It's no secret that I'm a fan of the 1960s jerkin, in fact if you search Google images you'll find six pictures of me on the first page alone.
I wear the same two over & over again I thought it might be worth investing in a third just to ring the changes, I'd hate to get stuck in a rut. I spotted this 1960s red leather version on eBay last week and loved it so much I was prepared to go over my usual £10 spending limit.
As the auction was scheduled to end at just after midnight I stuck a snipe in, went to bed and was thrilled to discover I'd won it for £10.31 the following morning. I thought that was a bargain but since I started writing this post I've snapped up another eBay bargain for a mere £2.08.
It gives my favourite maxi dresses a whole new lease of life and it's a far groovier layer of warmth than a cardi.
Can you believe that I took today's photos just after lunchtime? It looks like the middle of the night.

ReplyDeleteA Funky Little Fashion Blog
The new red jerkin is gorgeous and still a bargain at £10.31! Do love the other outfits too...
ReplyDeleteThis red leather jerkin is so sexy, there is something about red leather, my prom dress was actually red leather :) I do love how you look in these and it totally adds to whatever you pair it with!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on your ebay deals! I think the UK ebay has much better vintage selection and prices compared to the US. Although... I did just pick up some orange boots with faux fur for $8 :) can't wait to get those.
I love all these pictures of you, dammit woman you are SMOKING in that bikini top TOTAL FRIGGIN BABE!!!!! I also love that catsuit in the top picture, MEOW RAWR!!!!
Loveyoutoopieces~
Krista

ReplyDeleteYou look stunning in red jerkin. what a great deal.photo collage is so cool. love photo of u showing us ur hot abs.I know I was going to do eyeshadow tut today but the lighting is horrible, lots of fog on my side.
luv ya
Ah, you've been jerkin;-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a stylish find, but you always have the most unsual and individual pieces here. Another reason why I'm so fond of your blog. XX
I love how you wear the same item of clothing but it always looks different. Love this red jerkin you outbid! btw.....you you look freaking awesome in that bikini!
ReplyDeleteIf I was the jealous type I'd say you've been a right jerk(in) Mwahaha! Sorry I'll get me coat!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colour, and much more fab than a cardi.
xx
I love your tan jerkins and they always add a certain groovy something to your outfits, but oh Vix! That red leather number is such a beauty!
ReplyDeleteIt goes wonderfully well with your Dollyrockers maxi, but I have no doubt at all it will go beautifully with whatever you choose to wear it over - bikini, catsuit, mini, shorts - anything! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ooohhhhh ....ahhhhhhh..... my favorite kind of layering piece!! :) Ha and I had to giggle about the google thing i will try it and see if you come up on the Bahrain version of google and I will let you know lol!! The red one is fantastic looks great over your maxi:) and oh my it is rather dark outside there...well it is winter I will try and send some sunshine your way ~ Love Heather
ReplyDeleteLove the fastening on it, and such a great colour, love ebay bargains!!
ReplyDeleteDo you remember Kid 'Jerkin'? Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteLovin' it! Don't know about just after lunch...it's bloomin' dark all day long!
Z xx
I love the cut of this red leather number. Fitted, but still open at the front - clever. Cardigans are mu guilty pleasure, but I do feel such a frump on them, and really it's only the torso which needs to be kept warm - all those vital organs!
ReplyDeleteSecond-hand shopping means anything over £10 feels like splashing out. A tenner on the high street wouldn't last 5 minutes, I'm always horrified when I see the price of new clothes.
Love how your jerkin fondness means you dominate Google images - that's dedication!
Lucy x
How exciting to dominate the Google images! The jerkins are fabulous. I really must get better at layering; I've always been more of a throw on a dress and go person. I think that comes from the years I tried to fit into the office mold; running late every morning is just the first of many ways it was a fail!
ReplyDeletexo
High five on coming up in Google you superstar!
ReplyDeleteI think the red number was well worth spalshing out that little bit extra for. It looks amazing on you!

Helga xxxXXXxxx
I just found myself a "Three Dog Night" CD remake from the 70's and this look fits right in! I am having flashbacks of Naru jackets, leather fringes and super cool dudes and dudettes. Keep on truckin my friend. -T
ReplyDeleteIt WAS dark and miserable today but not so your jerkin. Love it. What is the difference, though, between a jerkin and a waistcoat? They are looking like one and the same to my untrained eye.
ReplyDeleteLoving the red jerkin! It really bring a certain something to your dress. What a bargin too!
ReplyDeleteI have to say being someone who feels the cold easily I do wear cardigans although I hate men them though! Terrible double standard I know! lol.
MBB x
love how you've worn your suede waistcoat over so many different fabulous outfits!!, and love your new purchase, it's so delightfully Red!! and it fits you as a dream!!
ReplyDeletebesos
Seeing all your photos together like that is so fun! I love the hot pink jerkin (I never knew that's what they were called!)

ReplyDeleteFabulous jerkin, I'm with the above commenter I never knew that this is what they were called either!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will more than get yours worth out of this one xxx
I love a good last minute swipe on Ebay, and waking up to a bargain! Great new piece to add to your wardrobe! :) x
ReplyDeleteHow ignorant am I? I thought it was called a vest. I'm enlightened. You look great in those jerkins and congrats your wins!
ReplyDeleteYou're AMAZE !
ReplyDeleteThe shape and shade is perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteYay, your jherkins are one of my favourite things you wear- they're really unusual, congrats on finding another! Very nice berry colour!
ReplyDeleteIt's great seeing how you make each piece look different everytime!
Pretty funny that you can find yourself under the search for jherkin! I wonder if it's an indian word? I haven't heard of it before =)
I just sat there and googled it to see if it were true - think its brilliant that you're on the first page of Google Images aha! Looking fab as always xo
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to come home to your blog full of warm and beauty.
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous inside out and beyond.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You wear a jerkin so well I'm not surprised you're on the first page of Google images.
ReplyDeleteSadly, I can well believe those photos were taken at lunchtime as it's not really been daylight here in Essex all day today - it's soooo depressing.
oh my god, your outfit is divine as always and really bargain-o-tastic ;)
ReplyDeletesorry for the grey weather you have over there...
I love the colour of it. Looks great with your maxi dress. Thank you for your lovely comment as well xxx
ReplyDeleteIts so horrible when its grey all day. You look fabulous as usual x

ReplyDeleteI also cannot believe you got another for £2.08 MY GOD WOMAN! you are full of suprises.
OH AND ON THE DAYLIGHT ASPECT. *uhgggg* It is dark here at 4 p.m. We were trying to get our Christmas lights up at 4:30p.m. in the dark yesterday afternoon. I had to turn on all the indoor lights to help Mr. Coco be able to see. lol
That jerkin certainly brightens up a dull day.
ReplyDeleteLove that collage pic! So many favourites in there... and I LOOOVE the new red leather one - what a bargain! What's the difference between a vest/waistcoat and a jerkin... is it the length?
ReplyDeleteYou're gorgeous, as always - and especially love the bikini pic - PPHHHHWWWOOOAAARRRRR!!!!
Love! Sarah xxx
Hee - there's definitely worse things to be notorious for than jerkins! I love the colour of your new one and it does look nice and cosy too.
ReplyDeleteWasn't it just hideous today? It was so dull I didn't even go out of my office, which is really unlike me because I can't bear to stay inside a whole day. I love your jerkins. You really rock them out, I wouldn't have known what a jerkin was until I started reading you. This red one is a lovely colour, it's almost raspberry red. I think you need more because you really do get tons of wear out of them. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that 6 first-page google images are of you! I'm going to go in search of a 70s conker colour suede jerkin that I know my mum has squirrelled away somewhere - now that we've seen a collection of the multiple ways you look fab in one.
ReplyDeleteWhaaa?? I thought these were night photos! That's crazy! They are really creepy cool though. The eery atmosphere makes the vintage outfit even more glamorous. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the print on this dress so much! I'd love to have a 70th mini in this fabric - short bottom and long sleeves))
ReplyDeleteI always admire your fringed jerkin whenever you wear it but this red leather one is cool! I'm looking forward to seeing what else you pair it with! xxx
ReplyDeleteHehe, I've never heard the term jerkin before! But I want one. Love the new red one, the button closure is great, although I do adore the tassles on your tan coloured one :) Thanks for your comment on little chomby, those photos have been sitting around for a while, but he is looking very spritely as he continues to get better! I was crouching down, bending forward a little putting hay in his litter tray the other day and he looked at me and then jumped up onto my shoulder! Like a parrot! So cute :) Xoxox
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this type of waistcoat before, I am inspired and shall be searching one out in the very near future. What a useful piece, thanks for the tip Kat x
ReplyDeleteOh you look incredible, the jerkin is fantastic.
ReplyDeletei didn't even know what a jerkin was vix. a longish vest from the 60's i see. you look fabo in them and again, i love your commitment to your own personal style. it's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI totally thought you were taking the pics at dusk. :) I adore your style...what a way to stay warm! Hearts, janna Lynn
ReplyDeleteOh, all right. You look so super in the photo collage, it made me want to slam my laptop shut and go do a sit up. Lucky for me I had to see what you'd got on ebay so I avoided it. Thanks for the inspiration, you look great!
ReplyDeleteYes it does look like themiddle of the night, by contrast our sun is so blindingly bright atm I'm putting on sunnies just to hang the washing out and got sunburnt yesterday in 4 minutes flat. So much for keeping out of the sun! 36 degrees of punishment here today, only 85% humidity though!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I don't know how you continue to do it, but you are always impressing me. You "get it". And I want a 1960s jerkin.
ReplyDeleteoohhh loving the new red jerkin gorgeous button detail to. I love the way you have arranged your photo's today. dee xx
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of the term jerkin before but you sure know how to rock them. I love how the red one adds even more colours to an outfit.
ReplyDeletexx
