Hailstorms, Baltic temperatures and galeforce wind aside, at least we're enjoying a little sporadic sunshine this week.
With the weekend mostly being spent paperhanging (I can't really call it wallpapering as its the ceiling we're tackling) I've been dressed in dungarees for most of the time. It was quite exciting to slip on my Naked Generation dress (eBay, 2020) and a vintage suede jacket to pop to B&Q for more DIY supplies on Monday morning. I did wear the vintage tan leather boots I'd bought from the charity shop on Friday but they pinch my big toes so off to the Kinky Shed they go.
This midi looks remarkably like a Naked Generation dress but its labelled Mono and was a fraction of the price (new with tags via Vinted). This - with my Anokhi riding jacket over the top - was this morning's choice for swimming, Spoons and a trip to the dentist. My second trip in a week.
The toothache I'd been plagued with at the beginning of last week turned out to be a gum infection but luckily the antibiotics worked their magic and I've been given a clean bill of dental health. I'm aware of how incredibly fortunate we are to have an NHS dentist, something a quarter of all British adults can't access. Most of our friends have no choice but to pay monthly subscriptions for private dentistry. The bill today cost just us over £80 - this included my emergency appointment (examination, X-Rays and prescription), both Jon & I's biannual check-up and two scale and polishes.
By the way, it appears I tempted fate when last week I mentioned how I'd not being bothered by the menopause, apparently the teeth and gums are extremely susceptible to any hormonal changes that can take place around the time of the menopause...gah!
As promised in my last post, here's our recently acquired charity shopped vinyl. (The emboldened acts are those we've seen live.)
The first four collages are the latest 7" purchases - Melanie, Sham 69, The Banned, The Mission, George McCrae, Holly & The Italians, Bow Wow Bow, The Regents, The Alarm, The Reverse Cowgirls, The Late Show, The Real Thing, Gary Numan, Japan, Nick Lowe, a compilation comprising The Jesus & Mary Chain, Redskins, Simply Red and The Style Council, Electribe 101 and Elvis Costello & The Attractions. There's some odd choices but when the assistant insists you take 5 for £1 you'll grab anything that isn't scratched to buggery.
My beautiful friend Betty took this book with her to Morocco recently (read her blog HERE) and kindly sent it my way when she'd finished it. It tells the story of the year the author, Tahir Shah and his family spent in Casablanca and is a fascinating tale of the Morrocan mafia, dodgy workmen, superstition and jinns (evil spirits).
We've been to Morocco a couple of times. The engraved metal Hand of Fatima which still hangs on our bathroom wall was a gift from a shopkeeper we got chatting to in the Petit Socco in Tangier when we first visited in 1992.
Here I am on my first trip as a fresh-faced 25-year-old. With my serial killer fringe, Levi's ribbed tee shirt, a Wonderbra and my Adidas Gazelles I couldn't be more 1990s!
We stayed at The Hotel Continental in the heart of the souk in Tangier where, two years previously, John Malkovich had stayed and filmed The Sheltering Sky, Bernardo Bertolucci's magnificent film based on the Paul Bowles novel. Abdul, the fez wearing head waiter, had worked there since the Second World War, during breakfast he'd wind up the gramophone and play big band tunes. We visited the Bond baddie's Tangier villa in The Living Daylights, dodged a legion of touts who'd line up outside the hotel each morning and attach themselves firmly to our sides as we walked around le petit socco pointing out the obvious and demanding cash for the privilege.
We sat in cafes bedecked with graffiti supposedly daubed by The Rolling Stones, paid homage to the Marrakesh rooftop where Talitha Getty posed for that photo, marveled at Yves St Laurent's beautiful blue garden, trekked the Riff Valley, swam in icy cold mountain streams, crossed the country on the overnight Marrakesh Express train where we shared a couchette with the locals and accidentally ended up in an illegal strip joint in downtown Marrakesh with the chief of police (as you do!)
Obviously back in 1992, cameras were analogue and all the pictures we took are stashed away in an album in one of our sheds. I made this little slideshow of our thirty-two year old adventure for my blog a few years ago. Jon's got hair and everything!
I can't talk about books without mentioning my most recent read, The Heavenly Table by Donald Ray Pollock. Set in 1917, the book tells the tale of three dirt poor brothers who, after the death of their deranged father and inspired by a cheap dimestore novel, decide to become outlaws, murdering and pillaging their way across the American Midwest. It's darkly comic, Tarantino-esque in its violence and reminds me of one of my favourite films, O Brother, Where Art Thou? It goes straight to the top of Vix's Best Reads of 2024 followed very closely by Matthew Kneale's English Passengers, a biting satire on the evils of Colonialism.
I had to do a double take as I was writing today's blog post, I looked out of the window and spotted one of our handsome urban foxes sunning himself on the lawn. Despite them having dug up my stumpery to make themselves a den I still have a soft spot for Reynard the Fox (although not enough to cough up £8000 for this rare 1701 publication!)
Up until a few months ago, most evenings Mr Fox would wait on the doorstep for William and they'd trot off up the garden together. Being a street cat no longer, William prefers human company. He can't even be bothered chasing Kitty from next door any more, even when she sits on the windowsill snarling at him.
Due to the antibiotics, I've not touched a drop of alcohol for over a week. I'm almost giddy with excitement at the thought of having a glass of Rioja with my tea tonight! Cheers!
You write beautifully about Morocco. It's great to read your memories.
ReplyDeleteGood thing your toothache is gone. Enjoy your glass of Rioja. Cheers!
Thanks so much! I enjoyed every drop of Rioja! x
DeleteI enjoyed your slide show of Morocco, Vix.. there's so much to see. I think we will return. How lovely your Vinted dress is and, yes, very similar to naked Generations current stock. Glad you liked the book. Thanks for the mention. I have absolutely nothing to blog about lately as been signed off sick by gp for anxiety, but am enjoying reading other blogs. I am so looking forward to seeing your middle room.makeover.. am currently watching 6 episodes of Dream Home makeovers With Sophie Robinson on channel 5 catch up. she does wonderful things with colour. How strange that William likes hanging with foxes! Betty x
ReplyDeleteHello Betty! I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis, you poor thing. I hope you start to feel better soon.
DeleteWe'll definitely go back to Morocco at some point, I was amazed at the prices of the accommodation we found, too. We spent a week in Agadir a few years later, it wasn't quite as exotic but there were some great veggie-friendly places to eat, nice beaches and we bumped into Ian Botham!
You're right, that dress is remarkably similar to Naked Generation, it's a shame all my research into the label came to a dead end and the company are no longer trading.
I've not heard of Dream Home but I love an interiors programme (obsessed with Interior Design Masters on the BBC) so I shall investigate further. Are you excited about tonight's Race Across The World. I wish you'd made it on to the show!
William is a strange cat! xxx
We have applied for the next one fingers crossed :)
DeleteI shall cross absolutely everything! xxx
DeleteHope you enjoyed your red wine, Vix!
ReplyDeleteThe menopause is now a big 'thing' it seems. I do wish I had taken HRT but at the time it was linked to breast cancer (erroneously, it seems now) and there was a lot of that in our family, so I didn't. Glad your dentistry went well; that seems incredibly cheap even for the NHS. My dentist, also NHS, charges us 60.00 for a scale and polish and you have to pay a 20.00 deposit in advance!
Morocco looked amazing and I am reeling at Jon with hair...
Very interested in the book you praised so highly; I must look for a copy. The cover shows a quote from Philip Meyer. He wrote a wonderful book called 'The Son' which was a really good read, too.
I absolutely love the art work on the covers of the 45s you found. I'm astonished that Twiggy made a record. Who knew? And it was my era!
Let's hope it begins to warm up again; I'm sick of cleaning out the fire everyday.
xxx
Hello Vronni! I think that glass of wine was the finest I've ever tasted. I thought that a week off the booze might make me completely sozzled after my first sip but i was fine!
DeleteI'm very cynical about all these menopause related products flooding the marketplace and find it rather worrying that almost any ailment that women over 40 go to the doctor with seems to be menopause related.
According the NHS website:
Band One: A check-up which covers an examination, diagnosis and advice and, if necessary X-rays and a scale and polish and costs £26.80.
It sounds like your dentist is charging for Band 2 (£73.50) which covers fillings, root canals and extractions! Mind you, you wouldn't want to argue and end up chucked off their books, would you?
I shall investigate Phillip Meyer's "The Son" thank you!
I knew Twiggy became a singer after she quit modelling but can't remember what her voice sounded like, I shall have to investigate YouTube, I daren't take the wrapping off her album!
We've got frost forecast for tomorrow morning! We've had to bring the tortoise back inside! xxx
I wonder if the price difference is because the hygienist does the clean and polish and not the dentist? Our dentist stopped doing them ages ago. I have an appointment at the end of the month so I'll check with them...
Deletexxx
It's worth asking, isn't it? xxx
DeleteSo glad to hear that your teeth are sorted.
ReplyDeleteCatching up with your previous posts, I wasn't surprised to see you back at Victorian Radicals. I'm definitely returning before it closes.
I don't want to jinx it, but the weather seems to be improving slightly. I've got everything crossed for Penzance next week.
I loved reading about your trip to Morocco. I always think of Ab Fab when I think of Morocco these days. Pop Spex! 😀
Not too long now till Glasto. Is that your first festival this year? Xxx
Thanks, Annie! I'm amazed at how quickly those antibiotics worked but wasn't impressed with the no booze rule. It was weird going out last Tuesday night and sitting in Spoons with a Becks Blue!
DeleteThe sunshine is glorious this morning but it's very cold. Matt on BBC Breakfast just said to expect a frost tomorrow morning in the Midlands! Fingers crossed for some warmth for your adventure next week!
Pop Spex!!!
Yep, Glasto is our first festival, I'm so excited! xxx
Isn't the weather just horrendous? We're off to Bruges tomorrow, so I keep hoping for some improvement ...
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your teeth problem has been sorted. I often suffer from inflamed gums, but had no idea teeth and gums were susceptible to hormonal changes.
We haven't found any decent vinyl in the charity shops for absolutely ages, but that's quite a haul you got there. I'm impressed by the number of bands you've seen live. I think I've only seen The Jesus & Mary Chain and - wait for it - Bow Wow Wow out of these.
I loved reading about your trip to Morocco, and seeing those slides with you as a blonde ... and Jon with hair :-) xxx
The weather had better pull its socks up, I want lots of photos of you and Jos walking around Bruges without the need for umbrellas and big coats!
DeleteI was perplexed as to my gum infection, other than the odd lost filling, my teeth are quite well behaved. Let's hope we both grow out of this hormonal change quickly. Is this an opportunity for someone to invent menopausal dental products? Maybe I need to apply to the Dragon's Den?
Jesus and Mary Chain put on a fantastic show. Loved Bow Wow Wow, Annabella Lwin had such incredible style! xxx
There is a band called The Reverse Cowgirls !!!!!!! OMG that is hilarious, I need to get a tour t-shirt. That would make my kids die of embarrassment.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I didn't know that meno and teeth and gums health are linked, it doesn't surprise me. Isn't there an old wives tale about losing a tooth for every baby you have? I do agree with Vronni though, it has seemed to become a bit of a "thing". Glad its all behind me and I can wear my "Old Crone" t-shirt proudly.
Thanks for the Morocco slideshow, what an adventure!!! Megan.
We knew nothing about the band, Megan, it was the name that sold it to us! Reverse Cowgirls would indeed make for a fantastic kid-embarrassing tee. Liking the sound of your Old Crone one. I befriended a really cool older lady at a festival last year resplendent in leopard hot pants and a tee shirt with a picture of a T Rex and the words Prehistoric Beauty emblazoned across her chest, I need one of those!
DeleteI roll my eyes at the menopause marketing - vitamins, hair products, skincare, makeup, talk about taking advantage of vulnerable women. xxx
I'm glad for you the antibiotics did the trick. My daughter loved Morocco. I don't know if in my future but glad to read about others travels.
ReplyDeleteThose antibiotics were like magic although that opened bottle of Rioja taunted me for a week!
DeleteOf course, your daughter hopped over to Morocco during her time in Spain. I love reading about other people's travels, too and get really excited for anyone I know when they tell me that they've booked a foreign holiday! xxx
Vix, I really enjoyed all that you shared, it's so interesting!
ReplyDeleteGlad your ache from that infection is finally gone!
I had a two glasses of red wine last night.
Just want to let you know, I'm in a different place, hope to see you there.
Cheers!
Thanks so much, Lon! I enjoyed every sip of my Rioja, I hope you enjoyed your red too! xxx
DeleteHey Vix, Having teeth issues is the worst, and my story fits nicely into your story about live music. I had a gig booked with friends on a Friday night, I had to go to the dentist in the morning and he found a major issue with one of my back teeth and it had to come out. So he numbed my mouth and started digging that thing out, he ended up sawing it in half and yanked it out in two pieces, packed the hole, gave me some painkillers and packed me home. I texted my friends and said yes I feel fine I can definitely come, but then the numbing agent wore off and that was it, half my face was throbbing and swollen and I couldn't make the show, let alone throw back a few drinks. The band has not yet been back to Australia - so that's my tooth story. Anyway, glad to see you feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOh no, Diane, you poor thing! Both the extraction and the subsequent pain must have been hideous and to have to go home and miss the gig must have been so disappointing. I hope the band come back one day! xxx
DeleteNever heard of the bristle stomp.
ReplyDeleteNor me! x
DeleteHow fascinating Bertolucci's film fantastic that you were there a few years after it was shot.. For that time it was a station. Tageri.. I'm glad your toothache stopped. The vinyls are another love, the sound of the needle on the slightest scratch on the record, what you reminded me of.. The outfit is wonderful! Have a nice day🍷🌷!
ReplyDeleteI loved both Bertolucci's film and Bowle's book, Katerina, they were so atmospheric and haunting. It was so exciting to stay where it had partially been filmed!
DeleteThe warmth and tone of vinyl is beautiful, isn't it? CDs never had that magic. xxx
I loved hearing about the Moroccan adventures! It sounds so exciting!
ReplyDeleteYou look soooo different!!
I love that William has a fox buddy.
The dupe dress is great- looks like Dilli grey too!
Toothache is the WORST! I couldn't believe how ill I felt when I had a wisdom tooth infection at Christmas 2015! It was awful. Glad you have an nHS one- I got thrown off the books after lockdown as I just didn't know when it was ok to call. Kxx
Thanks, Kezzie! Morocco was such an adventure. I remember driving Jon mad singing "Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express" constantly, the whole time we were on the train! I know, I looked so different as a blonde.
DeleteIt was really sweet to see William and the fox having adventures, they'd occasionally play football on the lawn and have us in stitches!
I was so pleased with that dress. There's some lovely Dilli Grey ones starting to pop up on Vinted, some of the prices are really good, too.
That must have been miserable with that tooth infection over Xmas back in 2018. I was so worried that I;d be chucked off my dentist's books after lockdown. When I got a message asking to book in for a check-up I was dancing around the kitchen in delight. xxx
Ooh, tooth ache is so unpleasant. Glad you're sorted!
ReplyDeleteYour Moroccan adventures looked like fun (you're fringe doesn't say serial killer to me!) I have no idea where most of the photos I took back in the day have gone! So frustrating.
I've only seen one of those bands live (Fleetwood Mac), although I don't think I'd have rushed to see The Osmonds...
The Heavenly Table sounds like a good read. We love Oh Brother Where Art Thou?
Foxes are so beautiful. That's a lovely photo Vix! We have a regular visitor, but it's usually in the dead of night...although I did once open the bedroom curtains one morning to see one asleep in the morning sun on our neighbour's shed roof.
William's gone posh! He clearly knows which side his bread is buttered on. :-D
Enjoy your wine! xxx
Thanks, Claire! I was hoping it would go away on its own but after three days I admitted defeat!
DeleteWhat did we do before digital cameras? Even when I could afford camera film and developing costs it was a gamble as to whether our holidays photos would come out okay. We've got boxes of albums in the shed but there's been an avalanche in there and I'd be risking life and limb to ferret anything out from under the debris.
Fleetwood Mac! I bet loads of people would have given their eye teeth to see them. Now don't diss Crazy Horses, that was a seriously good tune (not so sure about Puppy Love, though!)
I'll put The Heavenly Table on one side for you.
It seems so odd to see foxes in the daytime, they're getting so bold. xxx
I thought that old pic of you was our Betty! That's so spooky. Your teeth are immaculate! One of my daughters -in-law had the same infection the other week. I won't tell you the eye watering amount she had to pay for emergency dentist on Easter Monday (her normal private dentist couldn't see her til the day after, even more expense)!license to print their own money!
ReplyDeleteThat was me commenting btw!
DeleteI thought it was you but thanks for checking in!! Now that's a compliment calling me Betty. Thank you for that.
DeleteYour poor daughter in law (both the pain and the costs) and isn't it typical that a nasty infection strikes on a bank holiday weekend?
Our lovely dentist who we've been seeing for almost 25 years is only doing one day a week at the surgery now as he's gone back to being a dental surgeon at the hospital. I was dreading the practice becoming private but fortunately it's still NHS. It's got so bad around here that a Sikh charity are funding a dental bus which goes around the area offering free dental treatment to those in need. Sometimes I feel like I've woken up in Dickensian London! xxx
Out of all those records, sad to say I have only seen Elvis Costello and the Attractions, 1981 I think, at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto-was a great show. Love that Elvis era, and love that song! I don't have that 45, but still have my 'I don't want to go to Chelsea' 45, also has a nice picture sleeve. Am supposed to see Bow Wow Wow this summer at a festival here-haha that's a little late!
ReplyDeleteSaw the Jam a few times, but not the Style Council...and Fat Boy Slim, I wish-his music is on repeat here, the ultimate mood booster for me...
happy turntable-ing :)
Hello Stephanie! I love Elvis Costello but didn't see him live until the noughties, I envy you seeing him in his prime. We've got the Get Happy! album (1980, I think), too. I didn't know Bow Wow Wow were still touring, maybe they'll play one of the festivals we're working this Summer. Jon will be happy!
DeleteHow fantastic to see The Jam! We saw Paul Weller on his own a few years ago when Roger Daltrey joined him on stage, it was brilliant. xxx
Yes for a while there I loved all things mod. I blame Quadrophenia. The first time I saw the Who in 1980 I was nearly crushed by the crowd after waiting all night to be at the front of the stage at Exhibition Stadium. Good times.
DeleteMust've been great to see Roger Daltrey with Paul Weller-wow.
I hope Bow Wow Wow show up at one of your festivals-I love to read about all the bands you see during the season 🎶
Quadrophenia was so good! Its high time we watched it again. I'm very impressed that you got to see The Who.
DeleteI wonder if Annabella Lwin is still as fabulous? You'll have to let me know. xxx
I should watch it again too! Yes, that was one of their final tours...I still have the t-shirt, and saw them another 3 times over the years-haha! The last time Ringo Starr's son was the drummer, so that was interesting.
DeleteI will definitely let you know-the festival is in July!
One might consider your blog entry as a sort of PSA: dental health care is *essential* to one's overall well being. On a side note, my vet says dental care is a key factor in domestic cats' survival into their 20s: It's a case of dental infections directly affecting the heart. She offered me a toothbrush for cats which I did not accept. (If you obtain one for Willam, please post pix of your using it.) My cats do nibble on "dental treat desserts" , the kitty equivalent of brushing after meals.
ReplyDeleteHello Beth! Bad teeth in cats can be fatal, can't it? William, after growing up on the streets, needed one of his removing when he first decided to adopt us, the vet told us that when neglected bad teeth can prove fatal. I've seen those toothbrushes and I wouldn't fancy my chances with our little monster. Like your cats, we encourage him to chomp on dental biscuits instead! xxx
DeleteEnjoy that vino! Both of those books sound interesting. Sorry to hear you have had trouble with your teeth/gums, but glad that it has been affordable. I follow Dr. Ellie's routine. It has really helped me. She is on Youtube. Another fabulous post with wonderful outfits...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephenie! I'd not heard of Dr Ellie and I've just been reading about her routine, it seems very sensible and straightforward and hs introduced me to a couple of dental products I was unaware of, I shall have to see if they're available in the UK! xxx
DeleteSuper post! I really like the idea of the fox taking a walk with William!
ReplyDeleteHow is Jacob doing, please post a photo or two of him soon! JanF
Hello Jan! William's such a strange lad, I don't think he considers himself a cat. I'll post a photo of Jacob on my next post! xxx
DeleteHi Vix, loving your blog!! Back from 3 and half months in India 🇮🇳 and cannot believe how cold it is here. Got back on the Utopia and couldn’t believe how damp everything was, we’d made sure we’d winterised but weren’t enough. Love your slide show of pics with you in Merakesh many moons ago, so young and so suits you with blonde hair.
ReplyDeleteGot a scale and polish for 1000 rupees, which is about £10, my dentists charges are massively overpriced compared to India 🇮🇳 even though their NHS. I need a white filling here and they said no 1 filling, only mercury on NHS. About £250 to £300 here because it’s not near the front. It’s an outrage lol 😂
I need 2 gaps filled and am considering bridges, so much cheaper than the Uk. Also living on a boat and moving around, it’s hard to find a regular dentist.
Thinking of Sri Lanka in January, if we save hard enough. Have you been? Can’t believe it’s the festival season already and can’t believe your tortoise had to venture back inside 🌸🌴🌸🌴
Welcome home, sweetheart! It's lovely to hear from you and I've loved following your adventures in Goa & Rajasthan on Facebook. It's so cold, what a time to come back! We used to spend a month in India in December and then go back for another month in April, coming back in May and usually missing the cold weather. It's such a shock to the system after months of heat, isn't it?
DeleteThere's a very good, British-trained dentist in Agonda, a lot of people we knew used to go for implants. I know the prices were a fraction of the implant prices here. My NHS dentist has only ever done the white composite fillings (mercury-free) - it's a shame the practice isn't taking on any more patients. The dental situation here is absolutely awful, I think you'd be a lot better off having the work done with a reputable dentist abroad.
We were supposed to visit Sri Lanka many years ago but had to cancel our trip due to a terrorist attack and have never been back. We nearly went in 2019 but after researching for months we couldn't find any cheap accomodation and ended up back in India.
My friend Betty went a couple of years ago: https://magiccarpettravels.blogspot.com/2023/12/waikkal-sri-lanka.html
I might pop Jacob back outside in a bit, now the frost's gone! xxx
That was good value at the dentist, we haven't had a NHS dentist for years now so we have to pay a lot more. I'm glad your pearly whites are back on top form and looking good. What a change in William eh, no more Mr Wild Guy and wild friends, smooching indoors with his humans instead. :-)
ReplyDeleteI know, it's such good value for how long the dentist takes with each patient. I had to have lots of complicated orthodontic work as a child which my parents paid for me have privately, I think even then the costs ran into the thousands. I feel like I'm wasting their investment in my teeth if I don't look after them properly.
DeleteWilliam has changed so much over the past year - only the best fresh chicken, Felix sachets and choice cat treats and as for abandoning his mates, shocking! xxx
Vix your hair looks absolutely stunning especially in the first pic. Are those waves from plaiting? Btw a fringe really looks good on you too. The pic of Kitty Neighbour snarling at a bored William is hilarious :) Lise
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lise! Yes, I Dutch braid it at bedtime and by morning I've got waves. I did have a "surfer perm" back in the noughties which looked amazing but cost an absolute fortune so it's DIY all the way.
DeleteWilliam is such a character, he does something to make us laugh most days! xxx
ReplyDeleteRe Twiggy https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=twiggy+the+boyfriend will propel you into the Bibaverse - I LOVED this kind of thing so, so much as a girlie. It explains everything about my addiction to the vintage :)
Saw Sparks in 1974 (fab)
Elaine Anon
Morning Elaine! Sparks played at Glasto last year but at a time and stage we couldn't get to without having to close the shop. I must watch their film. My bro was a huge fan. They must have been a sight to behold in 1974!
DeleteTa for the link, I shall investigate after my Wii Fit!!
PS What was the first song I hear when I turned 6Music on this morning? This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both of Us! Tune!!!!
DeleteSeu blog é o mais bonito da Internet. Muito mesmo. Um beijo. Estou te esperando lá, no meu, viu?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment! x
DeleteGlad that you've recovered from that toothache, and had the best medical attention!. Our own NHS only covers a minimum dental care, so we have to pay!.
ReplyDeleteLooking fab in both dresses and cool jacket and hat!, you rock it!
So amazing to see you back in the nineties in Morocco, looking so different!.
Hurrah for Rioja! ;D
besos
Thanks so much, Monica! xxx
DeleteYour outfit from the 1990s is very 1990s. Such a cute photo! I probably wouldn't have recognized you. I see you as dark haired and need to remind myself you are a natural blonde. Thank you for the reading recommendation. The Heavenly Table by Donald Ray Pollock sounds like a great read!
ReplyDeleteI think being born blonde must have been an accident t birth, as soon as I dyed my hair dark brown I felt like I'd finally become me! The Heavenly Table is an incredible read especially as the writer only became an author a few years ago, he left school, without any qualifications and worked as a labourer for 32 years! xxx
DeleteI love the maxi dress paired with suede dress. Your hair looks fabulous in curls.
ReplyDeleteToothache is the worse! You reminded me to call my dentist.
Thank you! xxx
DeleteI think I still have that Twiggy album somewhere....
ReplyDelete
