I've been hankering after a pair of mini bun hairpieces in Beauty Queen Cosmetics ever since I spotted them on Wednesday, that's until I remembered I had hair of my own to play with.
Who? Here's my tribute post from 3 years ago. |
After weeks of sub-zero temperatures today's 11 degrees felt positively tropical. Being a hardcore Northerner I even took my coat off on the walk back from town. Look at me flashing off one of my 2 for £2 bras from Marks and Spencer's clearance rail last week, no shame.
Wednesday's purchases from Second To None were very restrained - I passed on the arse-revealing 1960s swimsuit (as seen on Clare's post yesterday) and a floral jumpsuit - instead grabbing this London-made 1970s Lewis Barnett denim number.
'cos I always need a denim waistcoat.
I couldn't pass up on this groovy 1960s shoulder bag either. The best thing? I traded in a much hated cameo brooch of my Mum's (seen HERE) so I even got money back!
Barry M Cobalt ....day 3 and not a chip to be seen.
It feels so good to be bare-armed again!
So what's your weekend got in store? Ours involves cheap white rum, pizza, a dinner invite, a jumble sale, a press photo shoot, some craftiness and series two of Mad Dogs.
Have a good 'un and see you soon!
Amazing bag! I'm the worst when it comes to bag, I can't look for one. I hit my eyes and either I love it or would never wear it! Amazing that you got to trade for something you didn't like instead of spending money.
ReplyDeleteI'm also enjoying the weather (walking around Chelmsford and taking off my coat after 30min!), hopefully it will only get better through the weekend! xxx
And we get to see those toned lovely arms again, too! Denim and blue and colorful funky jewelry makes you look all summery, too. I hope that it stays warm (we are expecting snow again here). I just bought a mod dress yesterday and that purse would go beautifully with it :) Amazing vest and love Tania's creations. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful waistcoat, and your hair looks lovely
ReplyDeleteGreat to see those arms again. I am not as brave as you.Your weekend sounds fun. We are off to friends tonight and then football, footballa nd more football with a Suunday Roast thrown in.
ReplyDeleteYou and Helen are as gorgeous as each other! That denim waistcoat had you name written all over it and looks fabulous with the maxi from Clare and Tania's crafty creations. And you mini Princess Leia buns too, of course!
ReplyDeleteThe 1960s bag is so rock chick, you had to have it - great trade-in! Denim and a shoulder bag are much more you than a cameo brooch.
Your weekend plans sound excellent. What are you wearing for your photo shoot? Not that I need to worry - I know you'll look amazing! xxxxxx
I love the hairstyle!!It look so good on you, it's a lovely idea for long hair, thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is a super funky outfit and your recent purchase at Second to none are to die for!! The vest is just perfect for that beautiful maxi, I like that at first sight they both look made of denim, then you are surprised by the great fabric print and coloured hem!
The bag is stunning too!I don't have any special plans, tonight I'm with the girls at home for dinner, my man is with a bunch of daddies from school but tomorrow I'll visit some friends!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Loving all of the denim - and those little buns!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, whatever you're up to (huzzah for bare arms!)

ReplyDeleteI'm off tonight to have some nosh and a catch up with my mate and plan our day out in Bath in a few weeks...laugh, eat, spend, laugh some more...something like that!
Have a wicked weekend, gorgeous.
Loves ya.

You look so gorgeous with buns, you have such incredible hair dear Vix it looks in amazing condition! Isn't it wonderful to feel the sunshine (or at least just the air) on bare arms again, thank f**k for spring! Such a pretty outfit, I love that skirt in particular.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta este look, el chaleco precioso!!
ReplyDeleteBesos y buen fin de semana.

That denim waistcoat looks wonderful on you. I bloody love 'Mad Dogs' and have seen both series 1 and 2 on DVD. I was only wondering yesterday when series 3 will appear on telly.
ReplyDeleteSleeveless in a denim waistcoat- being a hardcore Northerner. Well, I am a harcore Vixoner, and I love your bare arms, bright colors and heady mix of everything! Happy weekend to you, dear and hardcore Vix!
ReplyDeleteOoooh a photoshoot!! Exciting. Love the buns, they look great. The skirt looks great on you too, so pleased I got that for £3.50! The other fake Litas are great. I was not feeling the warmth, but mostly my hands have been covered in PVA. Have a fantastic weekend! The Second To None bag is really unusual and all waistcoats look good on you!! Xx
ReplyDeleteMy hair is far too stubborn for buns, I adore that shoulder bag - especially the ring detailing running around the edges - very fancy!
ReplyDeleteHave Vogue finally seen the light?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see you on the cover and if it's not Vogue...HELLO, wake the fuck up Alexandra Shulman, you are missing out!
I'd have to use fake hair in order to replicate your duo-bun-do but your fabulous headful of raven loveliness lends itself to a plethora of fabtastic do's. I've been eyeing up a wig, in one of the shops around the corner but I'm too skint at the moment to splash the cash.
Your new waistcoat is brilliant, I really love that military-esqe pleating to the front, makes me think of Adam Ant.
You look as wonderful and radiant as ever.
My weekend? I've got my Emergency First Response course tomorrow, I hope I'll pass :)
Loads of love,
Jennie
xXx
You look so darned cute with your little buns and all those lovely colourful accessories. I love the way you have styled the Second to None denim waistcoat, this look is so pretty and feminine. The skirt from Clare is fab and it's so much fun to see you modelling Helen and the beads, especially with that beautiful smile on your face.
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you on the bare arms. Did you get any comments in town I wonder? Now, is that the new eyeshadow I see making an entrance? xxxx
I love hair knots! I used to do two on top of my head when it was longer, but I would use all my hair because it was so thin.
ReplyDeleteGreat denim vest-- so cool to trade-in the brooch to get your new stuff.
Love that song/video,
Becky :)
Great outfit, denim waistcoats look so good on you. How cool that you traded your mums brooch (didn't think so at first but then I read the story) and got something you really like. Love Clare's skirt also and your hair of course.
ReplyDeleteI've got the weekend off but I'm full of snot so won't be doing much, gardening maybe if the promised sunshine arrives. Enjoy yours.
I am listening to this song as I type, digging it, cranking it~turning up the BASS because I love the BASS. Now the video has me distracted....dude this video is bad ass!!!!! I love the bird coming out of him~ just try and take that house. Native Americas....the first real Americans.
ReplyDeleteYour little mini buns are so stinking cute and perfectly show off your beautiful creations from Tania. The ribbon bits on your skirt are so so so adorable! You showed great restraint at Junes and I think this denim vest is unique and I'm so happy you snatched it up. That purse is crazy good too, I love all the silver bits!
Your weekend sounds fun and very full too. I hope it stays warm...even though it still sounds freezing to me :) BTW your ass looked hot in the swimsuit shot Clare took, gotta watch her with that camera huh :)
ILOVEYOUGIRL!!!
XXOOO
Nice springlike outfit!
ReplyDeleteI was utterly mezmerised by that video, along with a couple of my boys.
Thanks x
Crazy 11 degrees you say, I'm quite certain if I walked back from town in that temp I'd snap in two. Us Aussies living in Queensland don't do cold well. I'm much like you Vix the old denim vest gets a workout and I'm finding that especially at the moment with this pregnancy. So I'm rather fond of your purchase and might I add your swimsuit shoot from Clare. Honestly woman you're a goddess. Loving the maxi skirt as well and the floral band at the bottom. My weekend well you know I'm hanging for our market. I should be up and at it an hour to get ready, but I think it's going to be touch and go because of the rain. Please Mother Nature please.
ReplyDeleteAlways thought out, although I think you could get dress perfectly in your sleep.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite lovely today wasn't it? Well, apart from the rain. I think spring might actually be on its way. Have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeleteLove your new goodies, and your "mini buns"! I used to do that when Gwensday was little, and put clip in streaks of Manic Panic through them, she looked so cute! Somewhere I have a pic of her when she was 4 and we took her to CBGB, she was the belle of the ball! (Sorry memory tangent...) I wish this weather would just make up its mind, its chilly and rainy again here today, boo! Happy belated un-wedded bliss! Will try to be around more now that I don't have to do everything with one eye (well most of the time, its bothering me today so this is written half with one eye!) XXX PS your meet up looked like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteVix, you can pull on everything! flawless! magic!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet bun head!
ReplyDeletehi vix. again you have a lovely outfit. it is great that the weather is picking up. that shop is like aladdin's cave. i love how you put your outfits together . love lucyx
ReplyDeletebrrr, it'll need to be much warmer before I bare my arms! Love your new denim waistcoat, looks fab x
ReplyDeleteBare arms in 11 degrees - my goodness you must be made of stern stuff! The denim top is so groovy I would want to show it off too - and I am with you on getting the cheap bras. The skirt is just lovely, I really really like border print patterns. Hope you are enjoying some lovely spring weather :-)

ReplyDeleteHurrah for spring weather - I'm kind of jealous to be honest:P I love that beautiful skirt. All the trim is amazing. Have a lovely weekend xoxox
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you can venture out with bare arms. Not so here yet, as were in the middle of an ice storm as I type.
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit, especially the purse!
Sounds like you have good-times planned for the weekend. Enjoy.
Hooray for a bit of warmth! Love your new denim vest and that's a killer purse. Have a splendid weekend xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteon tap for my weekend: re potting the hibiscus that blew over, watching Dr. Who and sleeping.
ReplyDeleteThat bag is awesome. 2 for 2 pound bras? I wish I could find them that cheap. Your mini buns look cute. Ha, that sounded weird.
ReplyDeleteAre you super cute or what? SWEET outfit! The Helen pin is AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend is yoga, pizza also, necklace making and prepping for a flea market next month.
Have a great one! :)
Fabulous look! I love the mini bun look with your 1970s Lewis Barnett denim waistcoat and that Cranston Print Works cotton maxi! The detail of the floral trim near the hem of your dress is wonderful!!! What a tease just barely flashing that bra from Marks and Spencer. I love your turquoise Barry M Cobalt nailpolish. P.S.: I finally did a lingerie outfit post with retro 50s high waist panties from the Dollhouse vintage collection just now! :)
ReplyDeleteI bet you stopped the show on your way home, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeletelove, love everything you wear, but the brooch, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the brooch is such a want.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx
As well as all the posties wearing shorts come what may, our postwoman has bare arms all through the winter .. she's not even wearing a short sleeved shirt, she hacked the sleeves off of hers and wears it like that!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Mad Dogs; series three is on its way, can't wait to see Phillip Glenister again!
LOVE the music choice - I'm partial to a bit of Skrillex and Damian Marley, do you like 'Welcome to Jamrock'? Also you are rocking the new hair look, I like very much. And how good are your arms?!!!! Rifling through vintage clothes rails gives you good guns :)

ReplyDeleteYou are the best advertisement for cabochon stones that there is. Those rings are awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi there- I really love your vintage double denim, the waistcoat and the maxi skirt look really fabulous-loving your hair too! Have a great weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your hair! I used to do it like that all the time when i was a teenager. Not sure I have enough hair for it now, sadly!
ReplyDeleteI totally used to wear my hair like that when I was a teen! It's so awesome to see an adult take that style and make it look so elegant!
ReplyDeleteOOOOh, Vix!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know where to begin!
I LOVE the double buns, they look great!!!
I like to do mine all in one big double bun-head ;) It's a hit-or-miss thing...
the skirt, the vest, the funky cool brooch, the amaaazing bag! I can tell when you are loving your look - you have a certain smile. It is here now!
Oh yeah, and I've been fancying those shoes for a while ;)
super big hugs,
Reva
Indeed you have hair in a-bun-dance to play with (ho ho ho!) - how pretty that brooch is she made for you and totally loving that skirt!x
ReplyDeleteI love your mini buns, which are the perfect accessories for the denim waistcoat. So good to see you decked for spring with your colorful bangles and bare arms.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds much more festive than mine, as I have plans to start cleaning the garage.
Love the vest so reminds me of a pair of jeans I had in the 70's with the diagonal piping!
ReplyDeleteDeniseAngela
I love the Helen brooch Tania made you, and the link to your post about her, what a beautiful and talented lady. Bit like yourself with those cute buns and that gorgeous denim waistcoat Vix. My weekend so far involved a lot more vodka than I intended, and lots of singing along to Queen.
ReplyDeleteLoved the story of your mum being apoplectic with rage about that brooch. And her buying you Valley of the Dolls when you were eleven. That reminded me of when I was little, sitting in the hairdressers every week while my mum got her hair done, and reading all the serialisations of 'Princess Daisy' and 'Tilly Trotter' in the Woman's Owns they had lying out. I think I got more sex education from them than I did from school. xx
Oh you look glorious in that waistcoat & maxi skirt. I love the whole looks, it's just perfection with those amazing shoes. Xx
ReplyDeletecute waistcoat and skirt, very springy :D
ReplyDeleteI always think of you when I see a denim waistcoat in the chazzas - you wear them so well. This one is extra special with the unusual detailing around the buttons.
ReplyDeleteI've missed so much fun, I kick myself for being away. How I'd have loved to join you last week. I will not let another blogger meet pass me by. I can't reccomend them enough!
I'm curious to hear more about the 'press photo shoot' and I'm sure you'll enlighten me soon.
Gorgeous gifts from gorgeous blogger chums - life is better when you blog, that is for sure!
Lucy x
You really have a gift for finding fabulous pieces with halter collars, which makes sense since they look great on you. I kind of feel like you should have a book deal that shows how to find great vintage at bargain basement prices. You already have plenty of material from this blog.
ReplyDeleteOmg love the turquoise nails with the cash of silver rings. And those boots! Like Victoriana psychedelica :)
ReplyDeletewhat a striking beauty you are!!! first i love your hair! looks cute! and your tiny waist looks so great in waistcoats like that! you never cease to amaze me darling!
ReplyDeletekiss,mary
Lookin' good! Hey I found a jumble sale last week. It was AWESOME! Things were 5p/10p/20p! It was like being in the seventies again! xxx
ReplyDeleteO, I adore the detailing on that waistcoat!!! Pin tucking is afave simple detail of mine. I keep meaning to do some myself. Love all the faded denim tones in general, and BARE ARMS!! My GOODNESS! That's quite splendid to see, darl!
ReplyDeleteThe hair is divoon! Of course, you have plenty of hair, so you don't need any assistance! You've done it beautifully, and it's really quite funky!

Flippin' brill darl. I'm so glad you snaffled the denim waistcoat, it can be your back-up for when your much-loved favourite one decides it can't hang on any longer.
