Fair's Fair

A tad overdressed for a Sunday afternoon?

Well, out on the town last night we noticed a few posters advertising a vintage fair at Sutton Coldfield town hall today. As Jon was busy tinkering with cars it was a toss-up between being on tea-making duties or donning some vintage finery and tagging along with Liz and Adrian and guess which option won?

The admission price was £1 and there was a huge range of vintage and vintage-inspired goodies to suit all budgets.

I couldn't resist posing by this awesome red Mustang before I went in.

1980's stuff in abundance.

As our boiler's decided to pack up, I couldn't really justify spending £65 on a fabulous brocade opera coat with a marabou trim, yet another maxi or some original suede platform shoes, more's the pity.

There was live music, swing dancing demonstrations and vintage makeovers and even a vintage bridal boudoir.

I spotted the lovely Laura selling her gorgeous handmade jewellery.

Vintage catsuit (£3.33) worn with velvet platforms (£9, Office) and vintage chain belt (the fabulous Helga)

I couldn't resist this Anthony Richards catsuit off a clearance rail. Liz bought a stunning 1960's Danish day dress and a couple of groovy scarves, hopefully they'll be making a blog appearance very soon.

John Marks velvet maxi waistcoat (Vintage Village @ Clothes Show, 2008), emerald felt hat (£4, Birmingham Settlement), vintage locket and chain (the divine Kitty)

Sending lots of love to my sisters and brothers in the States today.

Hope your weekend's been a good one.

Don't be silly! Green is your colour. That hat looks so happy on your head. Love the collage of prints on that sweet dress. Think I need a Red Mustang;-)

  3. That velvet number is a stunner, especially when topped off by a green hat and posed by a red Mustang!
It's great to have a rummage amongst the vintage, there are a couple of fairs coming up soon in Sheffield, and even if I don't buy, I love going for a gawp and a try and a chat!

You did well to restrain yourself, and £3.33 for a lovely catsuit is a snip!
Glad you had a lovely time. xxxxxx

  14. Vix, you could never be overdressed, I think you look elegantly relaxed! The catsuit is so you, a great find. It's brilliant when you find things in your budget at fairs - they're often a bit expensive for me. Trés annoying about the boiler - didn't it break down earlier in the year as well?
    Have a nice evening x

  18. Green is definately your colour, it took me 20 years to get back to it after wearing it to school every day for 6 years, but it has to be dark or sludge for me. Loving the catsuit tucked into boots vibe.

Only people who haven't tried dressing to please themselves call it such silly names. You are utterly fabulous in your gorgeous green hat and maxi, while I'm very impressed with the red mustang pose. You look like you own that car!!! xoxoxoxo
