As I've been a lazy blogger this week here's two of my latest dresses.
My darling Helga sent me this groovy pink number and it got the thumbs up from Jon for being the perfect car boot sale dress. It's bright enough for him to locate me when I wander off and being nylon it dries quickly so I don't wet the precious vintage upholstery in his beloved car with my soggy hem.
1970's Cha-Cha maxi worn with vintage Ted Lapidus sunglasses (Acorn Hospice) and a 1970's Charlie solid perfume-filled pendant (car boot sale) |
Talking of car boot sales, yesterday's wasn't up to much. The weather brought hundreds of extra sellers out but it was mostly students flogging last year's high street gear or harassed parents selling toys and kids clothes.
I bought this 1940's era Sylph iron, made in England for Premier Electric Limited, for £2. It's got a Bakelite plug and has settings for wool, linen, rayon and cotton. My daily iron is a 1960's Morphy Richards enamel model, I loathe modern steam irons and was dreading the day my trusty one packs up. This ancient beast works perfectly.
The ladies in the Salvation Army saved me this pretty vintage lace blouse this morning. It was £1.
This sweet Bakelite travel chess set was 50p
Twiggs Hawaiian-made vintage maxi dress worn with an embroidered souvenir bag (Acorns Hospice) and a handmade hair flower. |
Today's maxi dress was an eBay buy which arrived earlier this week, just in time for the weather to turn warmer. I'm all dressed up for a night at the pub. The bag is big enough to carry our stash of booze to Caldmore Balti later.
Label love. |
Have you seen our new "Frock On A Friday" side button? Stuff dress down Fridays, we're for dressing to the nines every day. After all, a day without dressing up is a day wasted. As we can't all get together in real life why not grab the button and play along with us every week?
I'm off to the pub, have a fun Friday.
I'll be back tomorrow to show you what I picked up today (only one of my most fantastic vintage finds ever).

The floral dress is bloomin' gorgeous! I'm with you on the Frock on Fridays - I've got a bright orange vintage dress on today with a print of sailing boats, whales and Japanese houses! The sailing boats are all upside down though - whoops! Why be dull, eh? Hope you've enjoyed the sunshine in the Midlands. Emma x

ReplyDeleteIs it a dress that is literally magic?
Love the iron the most, I think it is fab.
ReplyDeleteYour frock on Friday idea is tops too xx
Well you know I'll be joining in! I can't promise a vintage extravaganza like you and Helga but I do enjoy wearing a frock on a Friday. Hopefully modern stuff isn't scorned too much?
ReplyDeleteI am most excited for tomorrow's post. You score such amazing stuff at car boots that I literally can't imagine what would class as one of your most fantastic finds ever!
The cricket club car boot sale is starting up on Sunday, hurrah! I can't say that I've ever found much vintage there in the past but second hand stuff for 20p is not to be sniffed at, even if it's High St.
I love that bag Vix, anything that is big enough to carry booze to an Indian is fine by me xx
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with chess, I play often with my Papa! The 40's iron is pretty amazing, that's interesting you use a 60's iron. My mother swears by 60 & 70's irons... I always wondered why! I love your pink groovy dress, lovely! -xxoo :)

*sigh* comment 46 again. I think my RSS feed is much sloooooower than everyone else's! I cannot get a hold of the Frock on a Friday button on this laptop, but should be able to get it on the pc. Cannot wait to play along.
ReplyDeleteMy new mantra: A day without dressing up is a day wasted
Re your clothing haul - as ever, you look GREAT! Watch out for the fuse on that iron though!!!
Ali x
You look lovely in your dresses :)
ReplyDeleteI love your dress in the very first picture! xx
ReplyDeleteLove how both frocks are a bit frilly - I had a rare pink'n'girly phase when I volunteered to have a dress like the 2nd one for my 8th birthday party (I secretly still hanker after it, a bit). They both look amazing on you - and Jon's decreed that you must now be drip-dry for carboots!!! - but I'm with you on being easy to spot in the aisles. That packaging on your new iron is gorgeous - you are brave with these old electricals.
ReplyDeleteYAY lovely as usual.
ReplyDeleteLOVING the pink from Helga.
I might just be tempted to play the Friday Frock game! That might get me closet diving...
HAve a great weekend.
Me gusta mucho tu estilo.
