Grab A Pizza The Action

Old enough to know better, that's me. I've spent the day in bed after consuming an entire party box of wine to myself, when will I ever learn? Oh well, I had fun getting into such a state.

Some of the gang came round last night so the vintage partyware made an appearance.

My 1970's style party hedgehog went all continental and sported a selection of Mediterranean olives. Amy's beautiful sari came in very handy.

We haven't got a dining table as I'd rather have nothing than compromise on something I don't like. Our dinner parties are an informal affair.

We served Jon's legendary pizza

Tossed green salad.

It went down very well.

Sporting a bindi at one of our bashes is obligatory as Jon and Al demonstrate.

The two Lizzies are a bit shy.

The boys love raiding my stock of vintage menswear.
This green wool blazer was a bit snug on Adrian.

The grey cashmere Crombie dwarfed Richard.

Jon refused to part with his beloved camel car coat despite Al's pleas.

Pavlina couldn't fasten the Jaeger jacket across her eight month bump but the colour really suited her.

Liz fell for the rabbit fur coat and took it with her. Adrian kept breaking into Bright Eyes from Watership Down when she wore it out earlier.

The party tree was bedecked with retro sweets and speared Jelly Babies in honour of pregnant Pavlina.

As promised here's the dress my darling Helga sent me last week. What a perfect fit it is.

We played Pin The Tail On The Donkey but by then I was beyond handling a camera.

No booze for me tonight. I'm not even dressed. What a disgrace.

  4. Box wine is really tasty, but drinking it all by yourself is hilarious. I wish that I was there to see the state you were in. You look like a goddess in that dress and it really flatters your figure and hair. Your parties look like such fun. Do you allow your friends to pick what they like from your closet? Are there any items that are off limits? Jon is a cutie.

  5. Hooray! What a fabulous night! I can't wait to have shifted enough boxes to have people round - dinner parties ala Vix look like loads of fun.

I am feeling your pain - I met the Aussie off the coach from Heathrow at 3pm on Friday, we finally rolled in through the door at about 2am on Saturday morning. We only went out for one... xxx

  14. An 'entire party box' sounds like goon to me...which is quite a scary thing as one gets older. If you ask me you're doing well to get a blog post done!

  15. Dear Vixy,
    Your poor liver ;)
I have done it myself more times than I care to mention...even resorted to taking the foil bag out of the carton just so that I could squeese that last drop of vino collapso into my glass...dear oh dear!
Glad to hear that you had a grand time though...very few things beat a house party with your besties!
I love that dress, is that embroidery or applique to the front?
You look AMAZING! Helga gets it spot on yet again.
Hope you're not suffering too much from last nights fun & frollicks.
    Lot's of love,
    Jem

  17. The hostess with the mostest! This looks like a great night, Vix. It took me days to recover from the party on Tuesday (and I think I only had 1 or 2 drinks, it's pathetic). You totally deserve a lazy day in! xxx

  25. Haha! Sounds like a lot a fun was had by all - the party hedgehog took me back to my childhood! I remember those at my family relly bashes with olives and cheese cubes and pickles and the like stuck on toothpicks. Looking divine in red there!

  26. @ Anon - Yes, I know they do! I'm a savoury person and much prefer nuts, crisps and Bombay Mix to sugary stuff.

  30. The dress fits you like a dream! An entire BOX of wine? I had to lay off the stuff in my early 40s as it led to some tremendous headaches. The salad you served looks delicious!

  37. What a fabulous party! And you look LOVELY in red! Truly, charming. As for how you're feeling today: Poor Vix! I don't think I'll ever be hungover again. When I was pregnant with my son, it was like being hungover and food poisoned at the same time, all day every day, for four months. Thus I shall never inflict anything like that on myself again! But before that...I can't say I was so diligent!

    much love: K

  40. This made me smile, it looks like you had such a fun night. Casual dinners are better than anything formal anyway. Why would you do anything boring and formal unless you were a rich person who had to entertain diplomats. We are lucky enough to be poor and only have to hang out with friends, much better! Love the hedgehog, such a good idea to do it with olives. And that dress is absolutely stunning - both red and plain, not your usual thing but it looks marvellous! Well done to Helga xx

  41. ha ha ha we never learn do we? I do this less as I get older but I still do it occasionally, and no I never learn either! Looks like a fabulous night was had by all!

  44. Vix, once again you look stunning, the party looks like a whole load of fun and as Pizza is my favourite food, I am drooling over Jon's.

Boxed wine is lethal as you never know how much you are drinking...until it's finished! I have done it many times myself.

I did see Zen, fabulous, I think that is what started my crush on the divine Rufus.
