Rumble In The Jumble

We may have a dinner party to prepare for but I couldn't resist the lure of a jumble sale after seeing an advert in the local free paper. Not one of the best as the church hall is tiny and the queue is always huge but I managed to break through the barracade of bargain-hungry grannies to find a few interesting bits and pieces.

1970's retro picnic set

Perfect for Glastonbury

Victorian-style lace up boots

Not one but two pairs of 1960's bri-nylon bloomers.

An insane 1960's trevira sleeping bag

Trippy or what?

Brown patent platform heels

A pretty cotton bed cover with velvet flowers and embroidered leaves

Perfect for our bed

Two hand-knitted Aran cardies and a sweater.

Total spend: £3

I'm off to polish my partyware and to make a hedgehog. Have a wonderful evening. See you tomorrow.

  3. I am amazed by the variety of stuff you have managed to uncover. I love the 1960’s sleeping bag, and the picnic set is very cute too. The Aran knits are just lovely, Primark are selling (much poorer quality and mass produced) ones for £12, just goes to show how much the high street are knocking off originals xxx

  10. Wow, great finds. I went to my first jumble sale Friday and managed to pick up a couple of cardies for 30p each. I was inspired by your jumble sale tales and was pleased I'd taken the plunge. Everything seems so expensive now! :). The patent shoes are my favourite x

  14. Love the tiffin picnic set - you'll be able to do some delicious veggie curries for that (I often have cold leftover curry for lunch at work and it is still so tasty). Have a great dinner party tonight. The hedghog is a great idea but I am most keen to invite some friends over for a FONDUE party ;) I used to eat it all the time when I was a poor student; bread and cheese for dinner, it was a great budget meal xx

  27. I have one of those picnic sets! I find it very useful when cooking for a crowd or when cooking multiple dishes such as an Indian or chinese banquety type thing as you can pre cook some of the dishes and they keep hot in there for a good few hours. All lovely purchases but best of all is that brilliant sleeping bag - I absolutely looove it! xxx

  50. Love the trippy sleeping bag. I thought, when I first saw the title of the post, that you had indeed had to wrestle it out of the hands of an aggro nanna.

Just asked my husband if we should get some stuff for festivals, he said 'yep, a winnebago'. Not a natural camper, is His Lordship.
