Isn't this Quad velvet maxi beautiful? The very lovely Miss Rayne very kindly sent it to me and I absolutely adore it. Well, it's a maxi, it's purple and it has huge sleeves, what's not to love? I've got a baby shower to go to tomorrow (I know, I know, don't all laugh at once) and it's definately going to be my outfit of choice (once I've sorted out my horrid brine coated swimming pool hair and chipped nails).
After I'd been swimming this morning I popped into my beloved Salvation Army charity shop only to find that the fab manageress had saved me a heap of vintage treats including this 1960's fake fur coat to add to my collection.
Cheap as chips!
The leather "Granny bags" were £2 each and the boxed bow ties 50p a piece.
After purchasing two new bikinis last week I was thrilled to find these two immaculate vintage swimsuits at 50p each (although they'll need some altering to get them to fit)
There's a jumble sale tomorrow morning, who knows what treasures I'll unearth.
We're staying in this evening, old big mouth here offered to make a batch of individual vegatable quiches for the party tomorrow so it looks like I'll be slaving away with a rolling pin and a pinny (accompanied by a glass of something lovely).
Phwoar Vix, that dress looks amazing on you. You have legs, you have cleavage, you have looks, you have charm - if you weren't so nice I'd be spitting with rage and envy.
ReplyDeleteI love that striped swimsuit, isn't it a beauty xx

ReplyDeleteVintage velvet with choker. What's not to like? I went to the Sally Army yesterday and got 2 pairs of tights. 50p each. My first foray.

ReplyDeleteStripy swimsuit?! Dear me, I am quite ferociously in love with it. Why don't modern manufacturers make such beautiful things? I hate my horrible Speedo one.
ReplyDeleteThe frock is rather spectacular isn't it? I love the neckline - so flattering and vampy.
You look totally wow in that dress, if you have to go to a baby shower that's how you should dress he he!

You've also inspired me to pull out my maxi dresses and search for some more on Ebay and Etsy. That purple maxi is blowing my mind and I'm jealous of you again. My sister finds a lot of stuff incredibly cheap also, she is a vintage roamer, I need to stop being lazy!
Truly love you blog!

ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, that maxi dress is beautiful! the colour is just gorgeous, and it compliments your figure perfectly! xx
ReplyDeleteThis dress is beautiful, I love the fabric, you can't find velvet like that in new stuff. It's so funny what you told about babies ! I'm the contrary : I can't see a baby without feeling like stealing him from his mom !
ReplyDeletehttp://selenite.weebly.com/
Love velvet and love the maxi. Aren't your Sally Army shop ladies proper dears!
ReplyDeleteThose swimming suits are just gorgeous! You really have awesome luck for great vintage finds (or is it skill?).
ReplyDeletethat dress is utterly devine and so totally you........good luck with the shower!!
ReplyDeleteVix you truly are a queen of vintage! You look absolutely wonderful, and I laughed at how charity shop managers always save you the best batches! THAT's why little rookies like me never find anything good in there :P haha, just kidding, it's because I have no talent to measure against yours! Have fun at the baby shower, don't upstage the mum-to-be (although in that dress.. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely dress - very gothic!
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the Baby Shower - quite fancy holding one of those myself - but dont know if I would feel a bit cheeky asking!! :D
Sal xXx
I love your dress! It's magical. :) And those granny bags are darling. I want one!
ReplyDeleteThe colour and style of that dress is beautiful. Hope the cooking went well. xx
ReplyDeleteAaahh Vix, I bet you were the best-dressed woman at the Do and showed the kids how a vibrant lady should look like. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous. Plus, it just goes to show that it's worth getting in with folk in your local charity shops. Regrettably, Edinburgh charity shops are very un-cheap. Our local Sally Army is selling stained wedding dresses for £100 and I toyed with a polyester dress with lace Peter Pan collar but turned it down at 12 quid. I'm still debating going back to look at it again...
ReplyDeletethere's not much time for bloggingland these past days... oh and i missed so much adorable outfits at your place....
ReplyDeletethis velvet dress is so amazing... i wasn't much into velvet since i was a teen. ón saturday i bought a velvet skirt at a charity shop. can't wait wearing it... i have to wait till i take my next break from wlb. ; )

More wonderful finds...trying hard not to get jealous now! That maxi dress was made for you, the colour is perfect.

50p for those amazing bathers?! I currently have a 50s deadstock onepiece on layby (which as you can probably imagine is costing me a good deal more) but it looks like wallpaper so I couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get all of your jumbling luck from?!
ReplyDeleteThe little handbags are lovely!! :)
I used the have the exact same swimming costume!! The dark blue one with white flowers. Unfortunately, it was a bit too small for me so I sold it on Ebay. One of my regrets as I've since lost weight and it would probably fit me now. How nice to see it again! Emma x
