Know the feeling? It's dark, damp and bitterly cold, the face in the mirror has dull skin and tatty hair and you just wish you'd stayed in bed.
What does a girl do to cheer herself up? In my case I draw the curtains, light the fire, soak in the bath, slap on some fake tan, put on some bright clothes and pretend it's a steamy and sultry summer's eve not a wet week night in the West Midlands.
Even the cats don't fancy braving the elements
I've got treats lined up for the rest of the week, there's a box of wine chilling in the fridge and great TV this evening, the town centre flea market tomorrow, a jumble sale on Thursday and nights out with friends on Friday and Saturday.
This evening's ensemble: Vintage Pia & Paula of Finland maxi skirt (99p from eBay) worn with a groovy backless 70's waistcoat (from my darling Helga)
Today's jewellery is a heady mix of second-hand tat and tribal silver from India
Are you sure it was your mirror you looked in and not mine? You always look stuuning and gorgeous. I know what you mean. I was so fed up at work just because it was so dull, wet and cold. I hate this weather! xxx
ReplyDeleteYowza....I'm right on it!!

Awwww your kitties are so precious! I really, really, really wish I wasn't allergic to cats. They are my favorite animal. Sigh.

I could handle the cold if it wasn't so dull and drizzly! You look very exotic - I think you were looking in the wrong mirror this morning!
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-wow, you look hot and full of vibrancy on this wet, wintry night-the skirt is fabulous and the halter neck is a gorgeous gift indeed! Enjoy your evening!! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou are to beautiful for than darn mirror! I want all those pieces of jewelry, specially the necklace.
ReplyDeleteTha waistcoat is to die for!
ReplyDeleteIf it is of any consolation, it is also raining in the south of Spain...
ReplyDeleteYou have soooooooooooo much to look forward to!!!.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
your tan looks great x
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! It feels like it should be lighter in the mornings by now. I put my flippin' skirt on back to front in the dark, thankfully I noticed before I left the house! I slap on my red lipstick that soon brightens me up! You look lovely xx
ReplyDeleteYou look fab as usual - reckon the bruise was courtesy of a West Country Granny at a jumble sale...lol xx
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous kittens you have, and what a gorgeous skirt too. You do right to indulge in warmth, I think we're all a bit sick of cold grey winter days now - can't wait for longer days and warmer weather. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your cats! How cosy do they look. The outfit is a star turn as ever and I wish I was having a glass of wine!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit(love, love love the Ebay maxi:)felines and you!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the print on that gorgeous skirt - and that waistcoat is so summery and lovely too! All those bangles are fab (I am so obsessed with bangles). I wish you felt as good as you look because you look as beautiful as always! Sarah xxx (Sending you some warmth from Australia, lawd knows we have plenty to spare.)
ReplyDeleteAh, was just thinking after the 1st pic that you were lookig very summery - great strategy for getting through these January nights! Bath, book and glass of red wine is my fave. xx
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful! I'm dreaming of summer today, its been so grey. Have a lovely evening xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful vest from Helga and a lovely tan to boot. I have shopped and shopped on eBay for tribal jewelry...a little bird ring in particular, but can't bring myself to pay what I KNOW it is worth.
ReplyDeleteOMG on boots from the previous post.
ReplyDeleteI had one of those days today as well Vix- it's the rain and the fact that it gets dark at lke 4! I hate it, it always makes me feel like 'right, time for bed!' haha! Your cats are too cute, first one is like 'don't take a picture of me' and second is like 'oh yes, please take picture of me' :P they make me smile :)
Oh just look at your back you sexy thing, phwoar! You don't look winter-y at all, if it's any consolation. You should definitely be here in the 30-degree-plus temps and searing humidity. xx.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful way to chill out and recharge the batteries. Glad it cheered you up.
ReplyDeleteThe waistcoat is gorgeous, great pick by Helga. x
You sure do know how to cheer yourself up! I'm feeling very lousy today...have had a cold for about 3 days and it doesn't want to leave!!
ReplyDeleteLoving the backless waistcoat!! I here you on the clumsy-factor sister! I'm the same!!
Xoxox
I know those days ,but wait you look ravishing amor..and those kittys love a good nap..you are always looking so bonita amor especially in that waist coat..how do you manage to find such great jewelry?
ReplyDeleteDearest Vix, I know exactly what you mean about those days. You look absolutely gorgeous! Love the outfit - the waistcoat is so cool, I love backless things and the print of the skirt is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love a flea market - can't wait to see what you find. I'll call you this week for a catch up, love C xx
I totally know the 'one of those days' feeling. But you look absolutely stunning, as ever. Your cats are just adorable! Sooo cute! xxx Comtesse xxx
ReplyDeleteSome days are just rubbish aren't they. Monday was like that for me, I simply told Mr D that I was in a bad mood and he would have to put up with me, then spent the rest of the evening complaining and swearing at things x
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling too... but you look so great! You have an eye for combining things, so creative and different. I'm amazed by your energy.
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty, Vix.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to dress to cheer myself up today in a cute cardi which is also v warm, and a pair of pale blue suede heels - which is a little silly as i can see them gettign ruined in a puddle :(
I feel like that about the whole of January - the last couple of days have been particularly miserable weather here - roll on Spring.
ReplyDeleteI do like your plan of attack though - planning little treats throughout the week and always taking care to look amazing - must try that. I love the maxi skirt and you have an amazing back that suits halter neck tops to a tee (all those swims clearly pay dividends).
I do know what you mean but you dealt with it beautifully! Jan will be over soon and before you know it Spring will arrrive!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun over the next few days!
You look great, the waistcoat is fantastic against your tan.
ReplyDeleteooh you have a really sexy back - I love womens backs!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cats look so cosy all snuggled up. I was intrigued to see what backless waistcoat meant and then I scrolled down and saw. What a lovely vintage piece xxx
ReplyDeleteYesterday was one of those days for me, too. Hope today is going better xox
ReplyDeleteI am more than obsessed with this maxi skirt. Dammmmn, girl.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Don't feel badly about being bruised. I'm bruised and scarred all over. Don't you know that dudes dig scars?

The weather here in God-awful Ohio is similarly dreary. I'm still struggling with a cough. I'm thinking about leaving work early and going home to bed. That's about all the day is good for.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
SB
I adore the jewellery... just up my street... You look amazing such a lovely colour still .. I am off blue/white xx
ReplyDeletelove ur attitude - nothing gets you down!!
ReplyDeleteSexy top!!
Oh vix, you're SO far from dull skin and tatty hair! I was actually thinking you look especially magnificent with your glow and tousled looks ;)
ReplyDeleteBut i can relate! Currently coming out of (hopefully) the worst week of the year. It's been abit of nightmare week here
x
Love the waistcoat and skirt and of course the whole look! You look lke you should be traipsing through a vintage market in Sydney! In summer!
