Here's another of my Saturday morning jumble sale finds, a vintage St Michael Sixties-era towelling dress for 25p.
I remember my mum having some towelling shortie playsuits for frolicking on the beach when I was a toddler and of course, who could forget Sean Connery rocking a cheeky blue number in 1964's Goldfinger?
I think the patch pocket won me over.
Here are my new boots. Yes, new as in from a shop! I blame the gorgeous Margaret of Penny Dreadful Vintage, who blogged about sale shoes recently. After reading her post I checked Office's website out and found these velvet platform boots reduced from £98 to £9.
I dithered about them for days but finally took the plunge and I'm so glad I did, I love them, even if Jon does reckon I should be in a Slade tribute band. Well, Noddy Holder is a local lad.
They've still got some available in black but they're a whole £1 more.
The silver cuff was another saved treasure from the Salvation Army. A girl can never have enough bangles. If I ain't jangling then there's something seriously wrong.

Wow those boots were a total bargain! All the shoes I love are always soooo expensive :o(
ReplyDeleteTowelling frocks ~ perfect for after your swim, you could just jump out of the pool into the frock and head off home!
ReplyDeleteThose boots are really special, I would break a bone in them but you rock them!
Kandi x
Those boots are amazing! I seriously want to buy the black ones, but as I have 7 pairs of black boots already, I can't excuse that!!
ReplyDeleteWahay, well done! Even if they are new they are still a total bargain. Your terry toweling number is amazing, but I always abhorred Sean C in the baby blue playsuit. James Bond wouldn't be caught dead in such a thing! x
ReplyDeleteI love a towelling frock...they are a genius idea. My gran used to make mine when I was little for our trips to the seaside. Fab barginacious boots!xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the boots Vix! A real bargain too.
ReplyDeleteI remember being constantly dressed in towelling as a child. Maybe it had a resurgence in the late 80s/early 90s? :) x
Wow £9! Brand new? You get some bargains. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI had a towelling jumpsuit when I was small, with blue oversized buttons on the pockets and straps. I loved it, think if I tried squeezing into it now I'd get some seriously funny looks.
xx
ohhhhhh.... your dress is so amazing!!!!

both the boots and the dress are amazing!
ReplyDeleteAh cant beat some towelling fabric! Almost want to make a dress like this now, loving the style of yours :)
ReplyDeleteI had one of those towelling dresses last year, what I loved the best was the hand-shaped pocket. Bargain boots what a mark-down.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cute dress - love the colours, and those velvet boots go down a treat with it! £98 to £9! That is almost 91% off! That's the sort of reduction I like to see.
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-wow, what a totally groovy gorgeous outfit, the towelling dress looks super and the boots are a stunning bargain indeed! xx
ReplyDeleteYou do get some bargains xx
ReplyDeleteThe dress is a gorgeous find. Glamtastic! xxx
ReplyDeleteWa-hey,that towelling number is seriously funky!!!Love a patch pocket!!
ReplyDeleteThe boots are divine! I'd love to be in a Slade tribute band with you!Yowser! i reckon the black, despite the extra pound, are worth considering! Love the jewellery,as usual. Can't get enough of dribbling over your jewellery!!
Gorge to chat last night!!
Love Helga! xxxXXXxxx
That dress is wonderful Vix! and fantastic boots. Have a great week xxx
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a towelling dress like this before, everything about it is so unusual and the pocket is a lovely addition. 25p you can really not go wrong for vintage St Michael.
ReplyDeleteThe boots are the exact same colour as my cat! I don’t know how that is relevant but a great reduction in price- it makes you wonder how they can justify pricing them so high in the first place xxx
Firstly the dress - omfg! It rocks - who could resist vintage towelling! Next the boots - bloody hell they were cheap - amazing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit dear! <3
ReplyDeleteI looove that dress!
ReplyDeleteThose boots! I was having tea in Beattie's in Wolvo and was sitting by Dave Hill. Looked much the same as ever. That's the extent of my brush with 'celebrity' Not much to write home about.
ReplyDeleteThe boots have an ABBA quality too, I feel.
Blinking heck, firstly, Sean Connery in his towelling blue play suit! What a sight - and I'm not sure that it's a particularly good sight! Love you in your towelling dress. Those boots are fabulous. Very jealous.
ReplyDeleteThose velvet platform boots are lovely on you! I think you can join T-rex, just add a little more glitter and you be ready to rock!
ReplyDeleteAlso like the silver cuff
Am sure my Mum had a dress identical to that - seen a photo many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThose boots are fab - if I ever get a decent range of movement back in my ankle I am determined to learn to walk in heels.
the boots r great but i love that dress even more... such bold colors in print always get me
ReplyDeleteThe dress makes me hate you beacause I want it so bad. I have no words for the boots just this face :). You are really inspiring me to find more 60's duds. I have been all over Ebay and Etsy, but I can't seem to find any as good as your clothing.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous boots Vix - and what a bargain! xxx
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are to die for!! I WANT:-)
ReplyDeleteOh Vix, how do you do it?! You will be my vintage icon forever <3. I'll be telling my grandkiddies about you when I'm wrinkly with lots of many vintage clothes! haha
ReplyDeleteAn amazing St Michael dress AND the most PREFECT pair of boots every (velvet + boot + platform + baragain = heaven).
This is def one of my favourite outfits of yours <3 (i should keep track, there are so many!)

£9 that's a freakin' bargain!! Oooo I love velvet, aren't you tempted to sit there stroking them ha ha!! I also love pockets. I missed out on a skirt with pockets on e bay last night, totally gutted :-( but then I guess I could make one. I am a lazy moo sometimes. xx
ReplyDeletefab boots, what a bargain x
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at finding stuff! I absolutely love the boots!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress and boots. You look fab - not so sure about Mr Connery in the blue number!
ReplyDeleteYou are naughty - now I have ordered 2 pairs of boots I really don't need and probably won't be able to walk in x
Thank you so much for the nice comment. Lots of love from Norway
ReplyDeleteVix, this is my fave outfit of yours so far this year. The print is GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I LOVE your dress, but seeing Sean Connery I wonder if the 'man playsuit' added to his loathing of playing James Bond. xxx
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing Vix! Those boots are gorgeous! I can't believe they were that cheap! You find the most wonderful things. I love all of your jewellery! I have said it in the past and I will say it again... you're a VERY lucky lady! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable. I love the boots and the dress! What great finds.
ReplyDeleteLove you lots,
SB
Having seen those GORGEOUS boots in the flesh on Sunday, I have been looking at the Office website and toying with the idea of getting black. I just think I'm so tall that I wouldn't manage the platform and I'd end up headbutting doors... but I do love them... I want them lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for coming Sunday.
x
Love your new boots. The right type of heel, the platform and the price - mmm, so nice)))
ReplyDeletethat is the cutest towel dress ever.only you find dresses that suit you so well..those botas are a bargain...and you look so psychdelic...yes a girl always needs to janlgle amor.
ReplyDeleteVixen--I had totally forgotten about these terry-cloth clothes. I had a romper in this fabric I wore in high school.
ReplyDeleteAs for the boots, we just need to find you an electric guitar.
I used to have a towelling dress when I was little and I think my mum had some shorts too :D
ReplyDeleteGreat boots!
xXx

Oh god, I'm still in shock at the Sean Connery picture. I'm very partial to towelling but that blue number is enough to put me off my dinner. Your dress is gorgeous though.
ReplyDeleteAnd the boots! I had to ban myself from the Office site in the end. So many lovely but wildly impractical boots.
Ah that dress is just awesome, I love it! Also, topnotch boots. £9 is pretty good for Office - their prices have gotten crazier and crazier in recent years (especially in Ireland)! xxx Comtesse xxx
ReplyDeleteDearest Vix, that Sean Connery picture is genius!! Love the boots. You rock xx
ReplyDeleteLove the boots and LOVE the towelling frock - SUCH a fab find! You are rocking that look, as always, but isn't it freeeezing cold there??
ReplyDeleteSarah xxx
Ah Vix you are a star! Can't believe you've been proper shopping!!
ReplyDeleteOnly just had a chance to catch up on yours posts - I'm always last which is so annoying.
Love the patchwork skirt on Sat night xxx
How'd have ever thought a towelling dress would look so good. It's a very flattering fit and the print is so pretty. As for the boots, they may be new but that's a bargain and a half.
ReplyDeletex
oh you just look good in anything and everything, I swear!
ReplyDelete£9! Whaaat, I'm there.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress, it looks very familiar, I am sure my Mother had one just like it and once again it looks fabulous on you and appears to fit you like a glove. The boots are as I thought, simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteXXX
Your boots are awesome! I think the £9 price tag forgives you for having bought them from "an actual shop"!! x
ReplyDeletegreat blog, is really something.

Shirl xxx
Gotta love a bargain! The boots are gorgeous. And I LOVE the dress!!
ReplyDeleteFab outfit combination also but you really shouldn't have put that photo of Sean there because now... oooh...er... I can't focus... despite the playsuit (which okay, I don't mind era wise) that man is delicious!
Vix... I really truly admire your ability to do this, to blog every day and visit all other blogs and leave comments and do all the things you do. How do you do it? I feel like such a failure.
i pass this stylish blogger award on to you. check out my blog...
