My New (Old) Coat

My oldest friend Liz (not last night's dinner party hostess), had the day off work today and needed to purchase a few essentials from town. Inevitably the lure of the local second-hand and charity shops proved too much and we came back without any of the items on the list.

The proprietor of a rather cool second-hand emporium had put this fabulous coat on one side for me. Not only vintage but Indian-made vintage at that and also a perfect fit. Not bad for £7.

The Pogul Weaving Mill in Sholapur, Maharastra has sadly long since shut down.

I do love a hood.

Dressing-up for dinner last night was much appreciated. We ate vegetarian antipasti followed by a wild mushroom risotto and garlic bread....yum, yum!

If the weather stays as chilly as it has been today I'll be needing this coat for The Big Chill.

  13. Absolutely stunning! A true bargain. Mr. Eddus of Big Biscuits snapped up a real steal today, a first edition hardback Faber & Faber poetry book (The Invasion Handbook, by Tom Paulin) for £2! The ladies didn't know its true worth, despite how striking and renowned Faber books are. He also surprised me with a gift a week or so back, "The Catholic's Latin Instructor" from 1897 for £2.99. Both are worth at least £25 each, if ever we become truly indigent.
