Jon was a bit scathing when I bought this dress back from a charity shop spree in town last week. "Blimey, off to dinner with the mayor, are you?" I think his exact words were.
No chance of any hob-nobbing with the local dignitaries but we do have a dinner date this evening with our equally posh pals, Liz and Adrian.
By day a respectable solicitor and art teacher, by night something far more worrying.
The dress was £2.95 and labelled "Robert Newman W1". My usual source of vintage label information has drawn a blank. Unless he morphed into Rob Newman, alternative comedian, author and former member of the Mary Whitehouse Experience, it appears this Mr Newman disappeared back in the 1970's.
We're hosting our own dinner party on Saturday night. We've no idea what we're going to serve our six guests but I've got a suitably swanky frock lined up for the occasion.
My favourite TopShop shoes with Barry M's "Spring Green" nail varnish, four days on and not a chip in sight.
Bon Appetit!

The only thing wrong with that outfit is that you can't see the outrageously gorgeous and desirable shoes!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice time.
those shoes are to die for, once again you look gorgeous my dear. The colour really suits you xx
ReplyDeletewhat an elegant dress, the shoes match it so perfectly! you look wonderful as usual, vix. and as you already know, i am so jealous at the fact that you have a campervan! i'd only ever consider learning to drive if i could drive a vw campervan. then i'd have a vw beetle, a vespa and a vintage bike. sorted! :)
ReplyDeletelove, jazzabelle. xxx
Those shoes are utterly amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress too
Have a lovely time xx
OMG look at those gorgeous shoes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, that link to the labels is really useful, I didn't know that existed so I'll be on there later.

ReplyDeleteGiven the incredible dress and intriguing shoes, I can't wait to see what is on the menu! Great color on you (though I wonder if there IS a color you can't wear???)
ReplyDeleteI came back to correct a spelling error :)
That dress is a great shape I love it. I am addicted to the BarryM nails at the moment too they do last for ages I'm on day four with a very similar shade to your frock.

I love that dress! And with the shoes, it's awesome! And the nail polish, woo hoo! XO!
ReplyDeleteI adore that colour! Enjoy the dinner party.
ReplyDeleteI am also a Barry M obsessive, it is the best. I'm currently sporting Coral but may swap it for a baby blue shade later. I had white and black stripes on my toes for Fulham's (lucky) semi final and (unlucky) final courtesy of Barry M. I tried to get the boys done as well but they were having none of it, so I blame them for our eventual defeat.
(The Rob Newman thing made me laugh. I used to think he was sooooo hot, what was I thinking?)
ReplyDeleteLove Barry M for its lastingness [is that a word?!]. Lovely, lovely shoes.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Adore those shoes.
