Buy Buy Baby - Boot Sale Finds

Long time, no see! No excuses really, we worked at a couple of fairs which were good fun but no great earners, where vintage trading is concerned August is painfully slow.

The weekend was followed by a cheeky Monday all-dayer in Wetherspoons, Walsall. Jon's rather attached to his new-to-him pink canvas skinnies by Aussie label Cotton On, one of last week's car boot finds.

Today I'm wearing: 1970s Osti maxi (courtesy of the fabulous Helga) and vintage Anacat waistcoat (20th Century Stores, Stockport)
Which leads me - almost seamlessly - to sharing our latest finds. This fringed bag was handmade by Fran, a fellow trader, using leather & suede off-cuts.

I've only bought one pair of new shoes in five years and why would I need to when I can get fab footwear like these Aztec-inspired platforms for £2...

and these ankle boots for £1.50?

Who says that all Eighties fashion is all polyester and shoulder pads? This fab embroidered jacket was purchased in Guatamala back in the 1980s.

I can't wait to transform these vintage curtains & bed covers into groovy clothing.

Jon found three pairs of outrageously flamboyant, British-made shoes on the same stall. He's keeping this red leather pair.

Some rather splendid vintage clothing, which was instantly laundered and added to Kinky's rails at the weekend. Here's just a small selection.

Clockwise from top left: 1960s Devonshire Lady mini, green leather jacket, 1960s micro mini, 1970s midi dress, neon pink 1980s Cashmere swing coat, St Michael swirly shift dress

I bought the '70s Tori Richards, Honolulu maxi I'm wearing below from a second hand stall on the market last year. I probably mentioned that the trader let me have it for £4 instead of £5 as he'd had a bet with his mate that no-one would buy anything so disgusting. I think it must be one of the most admired dresses I own.

Taken on Saturday at Bus Stop Vintage , Shrewsbury
We've got the entire weekend off - no fairs, no festivals, no markets, no plans. Fingers crossed for at least one dry day so we can go car booting.

See you soon.

  8. Bloody hell...so much gorgeousness! Love those boots and the bag. Is there anything nicer than a big pile of sheet and curtain fabric to be going on with? Your maxi is stunning and I always like a reduced, 'nobody in their right mind will buy this horror' price. I've a few thing some my way because of my 'bad' taste'!
Have a fab, well-earned weekend off and I've had a few words with the weather and it will be sorting it's shit out as from now.
    Loves ya!

  11. I love that Honolulu dress - it looks amazing! What great finds. I especially love finding great foot ware for pennies on the dollar. I can't remember the last time I bought new shoes - about five years ago as well I think. Why buy new when used has so much to offer?

  13. such a beautiful bag, she did a lovely job of it!! The shoes are amazing, I have never saw anything like them!!!
You do wear that dress beautifully, it was made for you,,
I see a pair of curtains in that pile my mum had in our sunporch lol, how many times do you hear that, I bet it gets boring after while to hear " oh my mum had this or my Mum had that, or I had this or I had that "
I suppose that comes with the job of selling vintage goods, each piece brings back memories to people in different ways,
maybe this will be a weekend of sewing for you!

Oh look at Jon propping up the bar like he was born to it. What a treat to idle a whole day away in Wetherspoons. Bet all the old blokes hate it when he's there because they can't chat you up! :) I'm not impressed with this weather. At all. The only time it stops raining is when I'm at work. 26. I hope you managed to get the most out of your free weeekend. I took an unplaned short vacation and spend some time with my granny on the island Hvar, it was great fun.

You look gorgeous in that black maxi with vertical stripes...and only four pounds? that's a bargain, that dress is lovely and it looks fantastic on you.

  29. It's incredible!! Shoes so fabulous to current healthy cost so little ?! In Italy the shoes called "vintage" cost so much and are simply ugly. These shoes inspired Aztec I find them are beautiful, you know carry them perfectly! You two are too strong! I adore you!
Even the clothes you wear is perfect, and tissues ..? I have something like between the things of my mother, I have to investigate! You have a sweet night,
    baci!

  30. So THAT's where you find your vintage fabric! I will have to keep an eye out for curtains, etc.

  31. Hope Jon's red shoes are as comfortable as they are handsome!
The Hawaiian dress suits your sweet(bow bodice)and spicy(graphic swirls) style, Vix. Alas, another woman without your bright pink smile would discover The Dress was wearing Her.

Enjoy your weekend off: may the weather gods smile upon you and may the boots be packed with treasures!
