My Hair, A Square and Some Fairs

You want big hair? Here's how I do mine.
(Music and video direction by Jon!)

In other news, look who came to add some glamour to the Kinky pitch at Nottingham's Fayre In The Square on Saturday, only darlings Curtise & Tania. It looks like they're trying to kidnap me.

Tania bought the purple Snow Queen cape from us last month and Curtise went off to the pub wearing the sassy cropped leopard jacket she snaffled on Saturday (and I had to stay behind with cheese sandwiches and Thermos of coffee).

Hello to Zoe. Originally from Canada, she reads both Curtise's & my blog and came along to say hi. I love it when people do that, I'm not as scary as I look, honest!

The rain kindly held off until we'd unloaded the van and set up the stall, but continued relentlessly all day.

Wearing: 1960s Hardy Amies fake fur, Levis shirt, self skinny-ed trousers, original 70s cherry red DMs, tweed flat cap

Not that it dampened our spirits, if us Brits were bothered by a bit of rain we'd have died out centuries ago. We had a roof, a suitcase boombox and a MP3 player loaded with classic tunes so we danced the day away.

Wearing: 1970s Tori Richards of Honolulu psychedelic maxi, vintage Saluki fake fur, 1970s platform boots, Lamini tribal pendant

...and then we got to do it all over again the following day at Stockport. Two 5am starts in a row, smashing!

Jon: 1960s Hardy Amies fake fur, vintage Bri-nylon shirt, Tootal kipper tie, 1970s denim blazer, skinny-ed up trousers, tooled leather belt, 1970s DMs  Me: 1970s psychedelic maxi, white go-go boots, marabou trimmed velvet opera coat, Lamani tribal belt (worn as a pendant)
I even managed a couple of sneaky purchases, too. I might be having a day out soon and obviously need something to wear!

That's it - no more vintage fairs until 29th November but there's no time for slacking. We've got an official photo-shoot for Your Home magazine happening next week and a house that looks more like an explosion in a charity shop than a stylish pad.

Linking to Patti's Visible Monday.

See you soon!

  7. Feck yeah, we celebrate big hair!!!
It's always a treat to see how other people do things such as hair.
An even bigger treat to be visited by Curtise and Tania! I don;t think there would have been much of a scuffle if they really were trying to kidnap you! Couldn't ask for more lucious kidnappers! And you all look mighty FIIIINE!
I am goggling with joy over all your spelndid outfits, and ever admiring of the British spirit! Rain?! WHATEVER!

  12. Your big hair was beautiful, suits you down to the ground. Looks a bit tricky, mind! We did want to kidnap you! But if the lure of Wetherspoons didn't do it, nothing would. We'll just have to kidnap you very soon! There certainly were some good tunes going down, i felt proper frisky. Two 5am starts, you deserve a medal. Good job you love your job! Pucci? Wow! Looking forward to seeing you modelling that. How absolutely lovely to have a couple of weeks off. So exciting about the house photoshoot! It's going to look lovely. Xxxxxx

  13. And that's how to get Big Hair! It does look so good, makes me wish I could be arsed to grow mine long again, but sadly it ain't going to happen, not after all these years... That's such a good song, Jon's not just a pretty face, is he?
Ooh, I wish I'd been able to meet Zoe too, that would have been the icing on the cake of a lovely day. It was so lovely to see you, and to finally meet Jon, it's just a shame you were on duty and couldn't come out to play! Loving my Kinky purchases, of course.
I think you definitely deserved a little treat or two after all your hard work - and Pucci and Annacat, no less, you label lover you! Yes, a girl needs a new outfit for a day out, don't you think? I need to do better than saggy crotch red leather pants...
Now get that house looking fabulous, it's going to be famous! Love you! xxxxx

  14. Great tease at the end of this post with the envy-inducing labels! If I ever get invited to some terribly fancy event, can I borrow that blue velvet opera coat?

Yes, I'm surprised you Brits over there haven't started evolving with webbed feet for all the rain you get. Can't let it dampen your spirits though ;)

  15. Oh Curtise's trouser crotch was saggy...I got that wrong then!
Great hair vid, sadly I don't think I could manage it with my meagre mane. A most excellent outfit indeed - the psychedelic frock and the Allison St coat. And a Pucci find...bellissimo, worth the 5am start, in my book. xxx

  18. A trio of lovely ladies in fab clothing (especially that gorgeous cape!) Are those fab white boots going to have to be surgically removed from your feet? Can't wait to see your sneaky purchases, they look interesting!

  19. The hair do, so cool! Lots of lovely smiles as well.

  20. Hope you've had a lie in after those two 5 a.m. starts.
Scrumptious looking stock and as for your opera coat -sooooo envious.

  21. Great video!!!! I love your Tori Richards dress and Curtise looks incredible in her jacket from you!

  22. Thanks for posting the hair tutorial! It turned out brilliant. If my hair weren't such a difficult colour to match I'd be doing this asap. I keep thinking I might have to get some hair pieces dyed to my colour just so I can play around and have fun like you.

Glad to hear the rain didn't slow down the shoppers.

Looks like you might have scored big time for yourself as well.

You both look wonderful...even matching a bit with the blue tie and your blue opera coat. What an incredible piece. It isn't too many people that have jobs where they can dress like movie stars from the 1960-70's. You really chose the perfect business.

I can't wait to see the magazine feature! How exciting!!!

    bisous

  24. LOL, I love the description of the home front! I also really enjoyed your video...I always look at the hair extensions for sale, but I've never found a close enough match for my hair...yet. And lovely to see Curtise and Tania stopping in for a hello and a buy! You and Jon? Both totally rocking the hip!

  25. Even though it rained on you, it still looks like fun! I would hang out with you both! I can't wait to see pics of Your Home, how exciting. :-)

  26. I loved the video - I have a hair piece that I have been playing around with - now I know how to do it! I loved the music too. I think one of the best things about your blog is when you show the places you have been and snap your followers popping in here and there - two very sylish ladies joined you on this one! Betty

  27. Excellent tutorial, I think I need to give this a crack. I have some hair extensions lying around somewhere. You cannot control the weather, but you can control how you deal with it, and you just do not let it get you down. You are one of the most positive up beat people I know, even if only via blogging.

  28. Ah Ah I have been admiring the Pucci dress everytime I went in Room at the Top and always thought it had your name on it!
Have a lovely sunny day xxx

  29. You guys have so much fun at every fair you go to, it's brilliant! People are definitely drawn to a smiling face, more than someone who just sits behind their table looking bored. Fair curators must bloody love you!

Gorgeous pictures, and what a lovely surprise from Curtise,Tanya and Zoe.

Good luck with your magazine shoot next week. You must be so excited! xx

  34. Thanks for the kick ass hair tutorial, I bought a pink one on ebay and can't wait to try this! Your big hair is only overshadowed a bit by that Tori Richards dress what a beauty! You three ladies are such a gorgeous bunch and I love that another blogger came out to say hello, did you say from Canada?!!?
Your stall always looks so inviting. I love that short woven cape in the first picture, why did you not keep that?! Can't wait to see your dresses, my god woman your closet is bursting with beauty just like you.
    Love youxxxxxxxxooooooooooo

  35. So much fun to watch your video. Another great Vix and Jon collaboration. Wonderful to see Curtise and Tania with layers and big smiles.

The psychedelic maxi with fake fur makes cold weather look like the best time of the year. Only you could make the the chill look spectacular.

  43. You MUST post picture of yourself in the Pucci dress! He and I both went to Reed college, though he was there considerably before me of course. As a fellow Reedie, I'm a big fan of his work. Well, that and the fact that it's just plain stunning! Here's a link to an interesting article about him from the alumni magazine. http://www.reed.edu/reed_magazine/march2014/articles/features/pucci/pucci1.html

  49. I highly approve of dancing at your stall - I dance at work quite often, although I'm a public servant and usually there is no music playing, its just a victory dance :) Looks like you had a fun time at these markets and the big hair video is awesome!
