Where has the weekend gone?
Here.....
Saturday's fair at Newport was fab (read all about it on the Vintage Girlie's website HERE) and, yet again, the good people of Stockport did us proud yesterday and we had an absolute ball. I never fail to be overwhelmed by the number of lovely people who read my blog and treat me like an old friend when they meet me, I just hope I'm not too much of a let down in real life.
No rest for the wicked. Despite yesterday's 5am start we had to be up bright and early to get the house looking halfway decent for some test shots by a photographer interested in submitting them to an interiors magazine.
These are a few of my photos after he'd finished his.
Isn't it funny that being with strangers enables you to see everything from a different perspective?
When he showed me his photographs I loved the look of the house so much so that if I'd seen them in the edgy interiors magazine I used to subscribe to, I'd have ripped the pages out and kept them in my inspiration folder.
Normally I just moan about all the clutter and what needs painting.
Normally I just moan about all the clutter and what needs painting.
Even the Wall of Misery looks quite cheery from a different angle.
It would have been rude not to make a few purchases over the weekend, including this block printed wraparound maxi skirt from the lovely Sarah who organises Stockport Vintage Village. I've written previously about unscrupulous sellers flogging these as vintage when in fact they are still produced in their thousands and sold on every street corner in Indian tourist resorts, but this one is 100% original complete with a 1970s Chelsea Girl label.
The 1960s orange plastic beads were a bargain at £1- who says vintage fairs are full of overpriced stuff? Not me! Wait till you see my other finds.

See you soon!
You are so bloomin gorgeous... (love that last pic) as is your house!

Wow , your house is amazing , love the floors, love the kitchen, love the patchwork curtains, love everything , you have created such an individual look , just like yourself , glad you had a good weekend , i dont think you are a let down in real life quite the reverse xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your house and I am so happy that someone came to take pictures to share it with the rest of the world! My favorite is the last shot, so bright and beautiful I need a chandelier like that before I die! The montage of the weekend of selling looks fantastic and I am happy to hear you were well received again. Let me just clarify something, once people meet you Vix they love you even more because you are an incredibly kind and caring person.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well with the hip appointment don't make me come out there are nurse you back to health too.....I'm one for two, that ain't bad.
I love you honey and Peetee does too!
XXXOOOOOO
Your house looks amazing Vix, I would definitely tear out the photos for my inspiration folder if I saw them in a magazine! You look great too, I hope it all goes ok with the appointment x
ReplyDeleteYour house is gorgeous. I personally love organised clutter as there's always something to look at.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend looked brilliant, you must be so excited for the magazine article xx
The house looks amazing!! Great skirt!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt. I remember Chelsea Girl - it was where most of my %5 wages used to go when I worked in a sweet stall in the market hall every Saturday.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks fabulous today.
I love your house and wanna pop over for some tea one day !
ReplyDeletexxx
You are a busy bee Vix. Glad the fairs went well and loving your purchases.
ReplyDeleteAs for your home, well it is stunning. You should be very proud of it.
X x
Love the home photos ~ I may sneak by one day and pinch that horse head lamp out of your kitchen ... Honey Bee insists we have it . ha ha
ReplyDeleteIt's funny each of our rooms in the farm house has a different feel to it ~ my main room is very Bohemian . I definitely can't stick to a theme so our house is a bit like me ~ a chameleon of sorts . I get bored if it all looks the same .
Love your rooms they would definitely keep my interest.
I KNOW I'd not be disappointed to meet you in person :) That's a fabulous skirt.....and I suspect you'll have 'nother whole successful side of life in INTERIORS. You know I've always been over-the-moon about any peek I can get into your house!
ReplyDeleteHoping you get some good, helpful info. from your surgeon. What a pain, huh?!?
I just love your house. I love it even more every time I see it. Can't wait to see what comes of the shoot xxx
ReplyDeleteMe too, wanting to come over for tea one day (or every day, forget "work!"). Your home is charming, inviting and expressive. I love it. And the wrap skirt too! xox
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can say better than that - if you saw photos of your house in a magazine, you'd love it! That's a wonderful way to feel about your home (I don't, I'm afraid - I mean about mine, not yours!) And your home is the perfect expression of you and Jon - eclectic, colourful, warm, interesting, unafraid, welcoming, with plenty of personality and oomph! It's not a show home, it isn't precious or stagey, it's real and it's you. I know - I've been!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds very hectic but great fun, love the Indian wrap skirt from Stockport, and you look beautiful with your double bun (ha, just mistyped bum - shoulda left it!) action. Busy week to come too - hope it goes OK with your surgeon. Love you! xxxxx
Your living room look fab - I love all the colour. Liking the updo too!
ReplyDeleteYour living room look fab - I love all the colour. Liking the updo too!
ReplyDeleteAll I say is that you let your personality shine everywhere, your house included. You can't go wrong like that.Letting us see your house? So sweet!
ReplyDeleteBefore the rest of the world? Double sweet!
ReplyDeleteYour house is awesome, Vix. How cool is that to have it highlighted in a official interiors magazine! Pretty soon, you'll be giving tours to busloads of fans. Surely the photographer got some shots of you in situ as well? Love the two bun look on you. And of course, the maxi ensemble is spot on. Whee! So much fun stopping by, you are always up to something. Hope your doctor visit is good.
ReplyDeleteI like your skirt. I used to love Chelsea Girl and buy all my teen clothes there, they were so affordable.Like your hair today too. Your house is fun, hope it gets published and they pay you loads. Betty
ReplyDeleteGosh, your shoot came about very quickly! Your home always looks so beautiful and photo-shoot-ready. Mine is always in utter chaos.
ReplyDeleteYour Chelsea Girl skirt takes me back! xxx
Ha! What a great idea! Home tours. I'm with Krista, that photo of the sitting room is just bursting with colour, it's got me all excited. It will be so much fun to see his take on your lovely home. You are so right about the different perspective. It's the same when you get back from holidays I find. Looking cute with your buns and Indian block print skirt. I've got a wrap one, how can you tell the age Miss, please Miss? Xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteYour home has the look that makes me feel like I could come on in sit down and feel completely relaxed and at home. Your maxi skirt is lovely. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead. X
ReplyDeleteLove the pics. I think you should give us a full house tour! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove your home Vix! It looks so full of character, I'd love to do to Stockport fair it looks brilliant xx
ReplyDeleteFirstly, you are definitely NOT a let down in real life, quite the opposite I'd say. Secondly, the house is looking ace, a true reflection of your personalities....I hope you'll let us know which publication it'll be featured in. Hawkeye here spotted your new rather fine maxi, a Chelsea Girl original is it? Lucky you. Sounds like you've a busy week ahead, hope it's a good one. xx

ReplyDeleteamazing what a bit of light and a fancy camera can do! For every beautiful interiors shot in a magazine, there is a pile a stuff just to the left that the photographer moved out of view. small messes for a perfect shot!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fab weekend missy!
I love your house inside and out, you have filled it with love so it is a home. I think if I was actually there I would stand with my gob open wide in awe! I had inspiration folders! Found some that I made as a teenager on clothes and hot guys! Very funny, and I still thought it was all utterly fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe photos from your weekend and of your home which you have decorated so brilliantly are real eye-candy! You and Jon have clearly put in an extraordinary amount of work in curating, repairing cleaning and organising your wonderfully colourful and fascinating treasures and home decor. Everything from your rails of vintage frocks for sale to your shelves of collectible treasures to your decorative wall adornments to your highly functional vintage style kitchen to your well vintage dressed selves are impeccably appointed and spiffy. It will be a treat for the readers of that interiors magazine seeing the photos of your fabulous home featured on its pages. Well done you!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on your car booting mission, on your visit to the orthopedic sturgeon, and, of course, in the voting for Vintage Personality at the National Vintage Awards!

Your home is as gorgeous and colorful as you are and deserves to be featured in an interiors magazine. It reflects your boundless creativity, as does your outfit of today. The vintage block print maxi is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks awesome!Love your house!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks awesome!Love your house!
ReplyDeleteSo much gorgeousness! I love your skirt and your kitchen. I'm coming over to steal both. I would tear the pages out and keep your kitchen pictures as inspiration too! I have to live with what I've got, but it could be much worse and I'm able to sort of fake the look I want with all my stuff. As you can imagine, I don't do minimalist kitchens. While I don't wear vintage clothes much of my home decor and even the usable things are vintage.
ReplyDeleteYou and your home make me want to just pop over and hang out.
xo
Love all the color in your living room, and how light and bright your kitchen is! I live in a suburban house with no character, except for me of course! :)
ReplyDeleteThe fair seemed amazing , with great stuff , would have loved to be there !
ReplyDeleteYour interior looks so bright , luminous ,reflecting both of your personalities ...
Definitely love the multicoloured sitting room ,and the fuchsia staircase ...
And what a magnificent Indian skirt , the patterns are in such warm shades ...Very nice necklace as well !
For sure , second hand is full of bargain treasures !
Magical kisses

First off you look gorgeous! Your house reflects your personal and incidentally awesome style- love the way the photographer captured the layers and angle of your casa! I would love to see your house in a magazine. Thanks for sharing you and your fab way of collecting with us all- we knew you when, ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI can very easily see your home feature in a high end glossy magazine, it is amazing, you look beautiful in your kitchen, looks like you had a great weekend, it takes talent to style things the way you do, it takes a good eye, or two, lol!!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so worthy of being in an interiors magazine! And I too, would be clipping out the pix for my scrapbook. As it is, I often save your pix to my interior inspiration folder!!! I'm currently quite swoony over your lounge. I would also love bare boards. And I covet your 6 burner cooker. My 4 element electric was just too small for last nights veg night cooking.
ReplyDeleteHuzzah for a rampant weekend! Who'd have thought work could be so much fun?!
Rock the hell ON, sister!
Love Helga xxxXXXxxx

ReplyDeleteI love the look of your home ... so colourful ... and interesting ... and inviting. The kind of place I know I'd love to visit. Just looking around must keep your visitors occupied for hours.

Looking forward to seeing the article, it does help sometimes to stand back and have a good look at what surrounds you everyday, we've done so much work here that we kind of lost sight of it for a while, but now I'm loving here again, as you so clearly love your place. One big upside to having the photographer come and gone, you won't have to do any housework for a while!! x
ReplyDeleteI love the photos and how you took them from a different perspective. Really opens up the house and shows off all of your unique collections. Truly a museum.
ReplyDeleteYour hair is super-fly.
I can't wait to see the article.
bisous
Suzanne
I love your home. Just love it!!! And I also love when you wear your hair in double donuts. Adorbs!
ReplyDeleteI just died. I just slipped away quietly while having a gander at your fabulous house. I tell you, your home is the stuff of dreams and I swear some of those pics are going to steal the front cover of any interiors mag your house appears in. I never knew you had neon pink stair risers near the Wall of Misery! And I'm gagging with envy over the horse lamp on the fridge and your fucking AWESOME lounge room!!!!!!!! Can I please have some energy? I need some. Now. I'll be thinking of you this week re surgeon's visit my dear friend. xoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI/m in love with your home the minute I first saw photos of it on your blog. It makes me happy every single time to see it! I really appreciate the new angles of these photographs, it gives me as a reader a new perspective. It's always worth to see the things which we get used to from a new angle, with a fresh eye - so it's already a magic experience for you, I bet. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful and playful with your funky hairstyle today. Sweet and naughty. I can't imagine anyone being less than in love with you after meeting you in person. :)
Hugs and love!
Oh I'm just swooning over those glimpses into your home. I love everything about it. Just my cup of tea. Xx
ReplyDeleteHow exciting about being in an interiors magazine!!! Your house is amazing and full to the brim with history and soul so no wonder that it would be featured. More mags should showcase décor that is not all beige and blah. XXX
ReplyDeleteYour house is great and you are always so beautiful! I love your turquoise jewelry and nails. I think I have been following your blog since about 2008 and as the years go by you never seem to age (you almost look younger now even).

Brooksie
I want to live there.
ReplyDeleteI love that your home is such a reflection of your personality.
As a die hard minimalist my home is sparse so I don't even want to think about what that says about my personality. :)
Love it! Your home is fab..no compromising to fit fashion, no bollocks about what other people will think of it. Fucking excellent. I'd definitley rip the p[ages out for my book of inspiration... in fact I will be doing just that!
ReplyDeleteYou a let down?! Behave yerself!
Loves ya.
xxxxxxxxxx
Your house is just brilliant, I do like corners of interest in a house (some may call it clutter! what!)I bet people love visiting you and your home, all is a visual delight, and you are never a let down, impossible! you are bloody lovely x x x
ReplyDeleteSuper post - full of ideas to steal, no I mean borrow of course!
ReplyDeleteI love eclectic interiors and I could spend hours gazing at these photos!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your medical appointment. x
Your house is amazing, just like you. I have everything crossed for your photoshoot.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine that anyone would be disappointed meeting you in person!
ReplyDeleteYour house is such a reflection of you and Jon - the colours, the different fabrics, fabulous kitsch and cool vintage. It reminds me very much of my artist friend Maureen's house, where there is something wonderful to look at in every corner.
I can hear a real estate agent now "At least the walls are white. When all that clutter is removed, we can have a nice blank slate. As it is, it's way too personal." yep, it's called "my home". I love everything in your house. Although I'd paint the walls all kinds of crazy
ReplyDeleteI adore you home, vibrant and eclectic, it I imagine it would be just like that meeting you in person! Sassy, witty, and a lot of fun! Enjoy the week!

Hello Vix,
ReplyDeleteWell, we have long since been of the view that it is so much better to be talked about than never to be talked about at all. And you, must certainly be the talk of every town you visit.
Your zest for life and ability to connect with people is palpable even in the virtual world. You obviously are hugely spirited, generous and warm hearted. It shines through your words and images.
We have found you via the delightful Curtise with a side tour of the Vintage Awards site. We never knew that any of this existed but we have cast a vote for you as you certainly seem a very worthy winner in our book. Good luck!
And your house is so very interesting and eye catching. So much to appeal to the senses and with a delightful touch of humour. We should love to steal the Russian poster in your kitchen, an example of Social Realism that has great appeal for us. We live for most of our time in Budapest so the Cold War is a very real concept for us. Nowadays the Iron Curtain has been replaced by the Net Curtain......you might find it very interesting as everything is Vintage here......it is just like living in the 1950s........tempting?

I absolutely love your house, its almost as beautiful as you are. Anyone can go out and buy a load of stuff and make a house, but a home requires time and thought and an eye for collecting the right things that will go together. I especially love your patchwork curtains. What magazine will the pics be in? I'd love to buy it. xxx

ReplyDeleteYour house looks amazing! Not surprised they want to feature it, so unique and colourful. I have tried to add a little colour to my very neutral house with an Indian Fair trade chair made from saris you have definitely inspired me to add more colour!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see those photos because your house is an amazing piece of creativity and delight! It looks so inviting and so unpretentious.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Masha

You are gorgeous too. love when you put your hair up!
Have a great day Vix

Preping for a photo shoot is a splendidly non-mundane reason for house cleaning! Moi, I invite dinner guests on a more or less monthly schedule to ensure that I do make the effort before the dust kittens become cats. Big cats.
ReplyDeleteOh swoon! Your place is amazing. What a treat to be able to see all these little details. I love it. And I wish I could reach into my computer and give you a big hug ... you are just that huggable!
ReplyDeleteI have a secret crush on your house, i just bloody love it , xxx.
ReplyDeleteI've thought your home was amazing from the first time I saw photos of it! It seems that fancy people who actually know something about design agree! I LOVE your hair like that - the two wee buns are such fun xoxo
