Other than What the hell are you wearing? and Looking for business, love? The most common question I get from strangers is You're a psychic, aren't you? Yesterday the medical professional I was consulting asked me, so its not just your average, every day loon on the street befuddled by my black hair, sweeping skirts and bastard massive jewellery.
I'm a total sceptic when it comes to tarot cards, seances & horoscopes and don't hold with any of that malarkey but since childhood I've freaked people out with my weirdness. I'd predict events before they'd happened, known people's names before being introduced and take things round to friends' houses before they'd even asked to borrow them.
Old colleagues at my last job used to look on in amazement when, with a database of over seven thousand patients, I could tell them who was on the other end of the phone before they'd even answered it.
I wish I could use my powers to predict what I need to pack for the two vintage fairs we're doing this weekend. I can almost guarantee someone will ask me for something I haven't thought to pack.
I thought I'd take things easy this week and conserve some energy for a hectic two days of work but on reflection it's been pretty full on - a dinner party and a coffee date, two car boot sales, accountant & medical appointments, the never ending washing & mending pile, blitzing the house in readiness for an imminent photo shoot,
Stripping and painting this mid-century cabinet we bought from last month's jumble for £2 (still not finished, I need to line the back and I've run out of PVA).
And sewing this ruffle-tastic top from the fabulous Flamenco fabric Em gave me last weekend (worn with a curtain couture skirt originally seen HERE, the Frida pendant Tamera made me and a leotard from a jumble sale).
I'm linking to Bella's Shop Secondhand First as everything you see in my room belonged to someone else before me!

Yep , I'm the first one again !
ReplyDeleteyou do have a bit of the witchy woo vibe going on, lol, but only in a good way. Your shoes look great in that cabinet, best wishes at the weekend, if I was a few thousand miles closer I would love to come, lol, love the Flamingo doll collection, and painting, its fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteYou look as pretty as ever in this flamenco top fashioned by your beautiful hands! I think people who can sense things are just more connected to the world they live in, I like to think I have a bit of that in me too. I will also admit that I do find Sagittarians to be similar creatures so I do put a little stock in that. I love that cabinet showing off a bit of shoe porn. YUM! All your Spanish dancing dolls look sweet in front of that painting. I love your style honey! Take it easy this weekend and I hope no matter what you come home with a much lighter load.
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOU! I pick up Peetee today! Finally!
XXOOOO
That's too funny, intuition is such a powerful thing!
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the cabinet.
I wouldn't mind having it to display my shoes too!
Huggles!
Well , Vix , with my unusual look , Iv' had the most varied remarks : whether I'm a psychic , talking to the spirits of those passed away , or if I belonged to a sect ...
ReplyDeleteWitch is however the most frequent one , very original , don't you think ?
One of my last posts was written because some guy shouted " Morticia , for sure , you've got the look ! " at me , that was some evening I was wearing long dark clothes (black and violet) ...
Nonetheless , I prefer being unique and special than terribly common !
And I do get a lot of heartwarming compliments as well ...
Your blue-violet dress 's gorgeous again , self-made if I understand it well ?
Have a fantastic vintage weekend!!
Psychic kisses

You glow- I think youre just plugged in. Practical, grounded and comfortable with your own self- I guess that psychic sans purple smelling incense and crystal ball. I wish you could predict my future- im feeling a bit lost and drowning.
ReplyDeleteFreaky but fabulous, darling!
ReplyDeleteI think you're just really good at reading people and situations, and very tuned in to what's going on. You're observant, thoughtful, and interested in others, and you listen. So if all of that equals psychic, then yeah, you're psychic! Perhaps in addition to selling (vintage, nothing else!) you could have a little fortune telling table set up on the side. Crystal balls, that's what you need!
I adore that curtain skirt and the ruffley top, the shoe cabinet looks fabulous, and that first photo must rank as one of my favourites ever of you, you look just gorgeous!
Good luck at the fairs. I foresee plenty of success, and a Vintage Personality award in your future!
Love you! xxxxx
Hour home looks AMAZINGLY immaculate and neat! That's no small feat for a very active curator of vintage living and creating in a vintage home.
ReplyDeleteThat collection of flamenco dancers is beautiful. They all look very valuable.
Knowing what's going to happen before it does is a strange experience. It's only happened to me once in my life and was unplanned. It felt like intense deja vu - like remembering what was going to happen next. If you have that happen a lot you're even more amazing than I'd realised.
I love the pinks and blues in your DIY vintage couture - your ruffle-tastic top and curtain couture skirt. They look like vintage high fashion collectibles. Com to think of it I guess they are.
I hope you have brilliantly successful times at your two vintage fairs this weekend. I'm sure the photos from the imminent photoshoot at your home will look amazing since their subject already is.

Oh my! That skirt is gloriarse. I love it. And we get to see more glimpses of your fabulous home - yahoo! The shoe porn cabinet will be gorgeous when it grows up. Good luck at the fairs. xx
ReplyDeleteYou are tuned in for sure!
ReplyDeleteI looked past the shelf, the interesting Spanish dancing dolls & the painting hanging above it. All I can think about is that dreamy wall color! What do you call it? (Maybe you're not even crazy about it?)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a successful show/vintage fair. I predict you are going to do fabulously :)
I love the idea of a shoe cabinet. My shoes get so dusty and cat hairy in their home under the bed.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought of it myself but you do have a Madame Zelda look going on. I also once met a girl whose name I knew. She thought she knew me too and we kept looking at each other accross the room but when we talked, we'd never met. Quite peculiar.
Have a great fair. xxx
Isn't it always the same when you say you want some quiet time , it never happens, you certainly get to travel with your vintage shop , hope you have a busy weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteI'd love to meet you in real.life! You're just cool! X
ReplyDeleteYes, intuition is a lost skill for many, my mother 'told fortunes' but was really using intuition and did very well as Gipsy Eve, she often got letters from people years later saying everything she had predicted had happened. You have such a teeny tiny waist you make anything look spectacular! Have fun and sell loads.
ReplyDeleteBetty
So you did know that i was thinking about you...
ReplyDeleteLooking fab as always - love the clours!
xxxx
You look amazing as always Vix and very relaxed considering all the prepping of the house for the impending photo shoot. Hope you have a good weekend at the fairs. xx
ReplyDeleteSpooky spooky! You've got a good sense of what's happening, how useful. I've had a few deja vus of the years and just can't explain them.
ReplyDeleteLooking glamorous as ever x
You look absolutely radiant in those gorgeous blues and purples of that dress. They're very similar in colour to a maxi I have and adore. You sound as though you have a sixth sense, I believe it comes with being in tune with oneself, which you most certainly are. You know who you are and you honour it as well as taking care of yourself. Good luck with your crazy exciting schedule at the moment.
ReplyDeleteYou look simply stunning, the dress is gorgeous. I loved looking through the pictures.
ReplyDeletewww.hungrycaramella.blogspot.com
As usual, Curtise is spot on. I would paint a little motto on my wall "always listen to Curtise" but I'd have to put underneath it "then do whatever the hell you want".
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous and people tend to be rude. It makes for good stories though. When I first met you I thought Cher and witch or fortune teller did not enter my mind at all. Neither did that other profession. Now that I know you a little better of course I can only see the warm, colourful, intuitive, unique person who is Vix.
Love your clothes, your jewelry and your warm creative home. I have an attraction to that jewelry and then find I am not comfortable wearing it. I pile it on my dresser instead.
xo
I think Google just destroyed my comment. Probably my punishment for leaving a long one.
ReplyDeleteSummary: You are gorgeous, people are stupid, always listen to Curtise because she is always spot on.
Shoe porn display case AND Spanish dolls? Be still my heart.
ReplyDeleteWould you predict this weekends winning lottery numbers please :p

Ha, you do look so amazing!! and happy and healthy, as always! love your look and that flamenco dancer shrine!
ReplyDeleteWell, I predict that you will always look amazing!! You know, there is something to being tuned in. And you are most definitely well tuned in. We're all so happy that you use your "powers" for good.
ReplyDeleteJust freaky enough, lovely! And precisely the way we like it.
ReplyDeleteLove the new shoe display! I'm anticipating some fur....??!!
As you know, I loathe packing for any event. I never want to wear what I take, and that's just the way it goes!!!! As long as you look spectacular, you'll dazzle the punters into wnating and needing exactly what you've bought along!
Have a wild time!
Love Helga xxxXXXxxx
Hi my dear! Wishing you much success and lots of fun this weekend- I predict you're so organised you won't have forgotten anything!! xx
ReplyDeleteThat cabinet is looking fab! Looking forward to seeing you Sunday! Good luck for tomorrow xx
ReplyDeleteLove the shoe cabinet. Where do you keep the rest? I know you've got more than six pairs!
ReplyDeleteCurtise is right, that first photo is stunning. Your hair is looking lovely today. It's funny what people see in you isn't it? I wouldn't think of you as a witch or whatever. My friend Anna comes from a line of wise women in Sweden. She tells great stories about her grandmother who used to pick healing herbs from the forest. I love your ruffled top, you look like one of those flamenco dolls in it. Your house is looking wonderful in readiness for the shoot. Hope it happens soon, so you can stop cleaning! Xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI can understand someone thinking you might be a psychic based on what they've seen in films, but I don't understand anyone thinking you'd be looking for business. That doesn't make sense unless 'business girls' out there dress a whole lot differently than they do here! It's interesting about how intuitive you are ... You must freak yourself out sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a find on the cabinet. It's terrific and looks so good filled with your beautiful shoes.
Here's hoping your weekend at the fairs goes well.
Where in Shropshire are you going to be? Are you in Bridgnorth again?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosemary from www.foreveronthecatwalkoflife.co.uk
There are lots of female stereotypes based on hair. Being a redhead, I hear a lot of them too.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of all the vintage fairs in your region. They are few and far between here in the US. And I can't be the only one waiting to see the results of your photo-shoot. You may not be a freak, but you are exciting!
There is something VERY special about the way you look here! You are always gorgeous. But there is something extra here, in your lovely and very pretty face! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find, this little cabinet - perfect display for your shoe collection! Your home looks amazingly individual, endlessly interesting and spotless. I wish I had the whole book full of photos of homes like yours!!
Wishing you some fun times with the interview/photo session!
I am not surprised people think you are psychic... 'case you ARE. :)
Mush love from the other side of the pond
Next time some one asks one of those questions tell them you are a witch!! One who performs good magic of course, unless you want to go to the dark side!!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in the supernatural either, but you definitely have something special going on (in so many ways). I love that little cabinet with your faboo platforms showing! xox
ReplyDeleteDon't hate me, but I very much believe in the malarkey that is tarot and horoscopes. No, I don't read my horoscope on a daily, or even weekly basis. I think the newspaper horoscopes are too generic. But I do get readings done on occasion, and they have been actually very helpful to me. :) But, I would never try and convince others of my beliefs, or assume things about people based on their appearance. Some years back, I learned animal communication, something that I only thought psychic people could do. You know, the ones that wear a gazillion crystals around their necks, {not that that is a bad thing}. If ever anyone refers to me as psychic, I find myself looking back over my shoulder to see who they are referring to.
ReplyDeleteOh, I adore your skirt! The colours and their brilliance! You look fabulous and I love that you are standing next to a row of gorgeous flamenco dancers!
I'm not one for malarky either - but some people do have a certain something, whether its an amazing mind or an ability to read people and situations or something else, who can tell. I do love your cabinet Vix - a great way to share all your fab shoes! Love the wee bolero too :D
ReplyDeleteEven if you forget something your beautiful smile and quick spirit will mend everything! Do you sleep at all? You even had time to sew something? You do have supernatyral powers!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelly, you must have some kind of supernatural powers to do all the things you do! I think you are far too well grounded in reality to be a fortune teller but you do seem to have amazing powers of perception. Love the skirt and the shoe cabinet and the flamenco dancers. Hope you have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI've been known to dream something and then have it come true ... but that's about as far as my psychic abilities extend. But it must be a handy talent to have ... you never need pick up the phone if it's a salesperson cold calling you for a start.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your outfit as usual ... and looking forward to hearing all about the photo shoot at home.
xx
I do believe we all have a sixth sense (third eye) and some are more attuned to it than others.
ReplyDeleteWhatever, you look lovely as always. I love the sunshine yellow of that cabinet.
It is interesting how different people see you differently just because of the way you dress: someone sees a freak, another one a call girl, the third thinks you are a witch. For me you look more like a gypsy, with your long black hair, flowing maxi and numerous bangles.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous darling. That top is wonderful...I knew you's do something special with that fabric.
ReplyDeleteAll the witchy stuff aside, I reckon you are one of the most tuned in people I know. It's something to do with being down to earth and sorted I think.
My gran and her sisters were all Spiritualists...lots of people were during the war I think...my mum is spot on physic /creepy and I can see the future and oh look, there's you winning the Vintage Personality of the Year!
Love all the Spanish dolls. Is there anything more cheery than a row or two of Flamenco dolls?
Loves ya.

I Love your pics! you gorgeous woman! yes you are definitely have powers, you gave me an apron! my other ripped spectacularly about a couple of weeks before, so I now have a replacement - your shoe cabinet is fab!and your flamenco fabulous outfit! good luck at the fairs (I know you'll do brilliantly) and I can't wait to hear about the house photo-shoot x x x
ReplyDeleteYour home made curtain maxi is just stunning, I really think that colour combo is one of my favourites. Another here who used to be called Morticia, probably due to the wearing of lots of black and tie dye at work, and much longer hair! Again your home features some bits and bobs that my mum has, this time I see you share a lamp, and a matador!!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit Vix, your curtain couture skirt looks great with the ruffled top. Hope the fair goes well for you! x
ReplyDeleteReckon you're unconsciously picking up on vibes somewhere along the line. I remember Kate Bush singing about this in a song called 'Strange Phenonmena'. Her lyric 'Soul-birds of a feather flock together' is quite apt for us bloggers! xxx
ReplyDeleteHope you packed the right stuff and sold heaps.....isn't packing a bore? I'm doing mine tonight and can't decide what to take away with me. No doubt some random stuff will get thrown in at the last minute. I do LOVE that curtain couture maxi of yours. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you know Vix - if even a medical professional………...
ReplyDeleteyou are a really busy witch :-)
ReplyDeleteand the prettiest i ever known! love all this flamenco vibe going on in your outfit and deco - colorful and fun!
if i had a magic broom i would visit you at the fair!
xxxx
Hope you had a very busy time and the two fairs and made loads of money.
ReplyDeleteLoving the shoe cupboard Vix, very stylish.
X x
You do have a very exotic look about you, but that's most likely the raven hair, bright colours and long skirts. I also agree with Curtise, you are most likely a very sensitive person who pays attention and so you pick up on a lot of things most people miss. I get asked a lot if I'm an artist.
ReplyDeleteWish I could teleport myself over there to go to those fairs. I'd march right up to you and give you a hug.
Your Flamenco shelf is the best thing ever and that is the perfect little cabinet in which to show off some of your finest footwear.
I love that you have psychic ability!
ReplyDeleteI love that big perfect smile in the first photo! I wish I could predict the winning lottery numbers!
ReplyDeleteWhere's my comment go???
ReplyDeleteSaid it before and I'll say it again ~ your smile lights up a room ( love your smile)... of course your fun and fab apparel does too ! Hope the weekend was prosperous for you and the Melon !
ReplyDeleteHmm My first comment seems to have vanished too !
ReplyDeleteWas just saying how your smile and style lights up a room in a most wonderful way.
Love you skirt Vix and can I have those bangles, please, please, please, wink, wink!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are all kinds of freaky...but in the best way! I'd rather be freaky than boring any day.
ReplyDeletebisous
