Flower Power

Phew! What a weekend. It's testament to how busy we were at Saturday's vintage fair as I didn't even get a chance to take a photo of Kinky Melon's pitch.

One customer was so pleased with her purchase that she popped out and came back with a bunch of flowers for me. Rachel inspired me to use one of my Dartmouth Pottery glug jugs to display them in.

How dim am I? It had never occurred to me to do anything other than look at them previously.

I hadn't seen our stray cat (still nameless) for a couple of days, although she'd polished off the food we'd left outside for her, so she was very excited to see us this morning.

Photobombing like a proper blogger pet. She's a keeper!

We've got another vintage fair on Sunday (details HERE) and, still being on a high from Bridgnorth, I'm set up, labelled and ready to go.

Giving me plenty of time to mess around:

Making spicy pumpkin and apple soup,

Re purposing a broken mirror (a casualty from a friend's stall at the weekend) into a trellis,

And hopefully getting creative with a stash of donated fabric scraps and some broken jewellery in front of The Young Montalbano this afternoon.

1960s floral maxi (courtesy of Heather in California)

That's if the cat ever decides to leave me alone!
(The other two are fine, Stephen Squirrel is still meow-less and Polly Piglet's camping under the bed cover).

See you soon.

The cat is a beauty, such fantastic green eyes and a big fella. I hope he stays.

  5. You know, she's a perfect fit for you. Orange female cats are as rare as 60's loving vintage shopping original fashion females like you!

  6. Looking stunning here Vix, in this floral delight and loving your up 'do'. Most ginger cats are toms but my friend has a female who is a very vocal and affectionate puss, yours seems like she loves a cuddle too. The pumpkin soup looks divine, just the thing to warm your cockles on a miserable October day. Jugs are perfect for flowers, I'm always shoving a few garden blooms in mine. Fantastic upcycling with the mirror frame, how resourceful. Enjoy your craft session in front of the box.xxxxxxxxx

  7. That green-eyed vixen of a kitty knows a kindred spirit when she sees one! If I could fit into that dress, I be flying over there to snatch it from you - the cut, the pattern! Totally my dream dress! That said, it does look fabulous on you, sigh...

Perhaps you should call her kinky melon -that was a good suggestion.

  14. Don't know which I'm more jealous of, that dress or the kitty cuddles you are getting. Both adorable. That is so sweet that she has found you and decided she wants to be with you. Have the other two accepted her yet?

Your house is looking so lovely and full of colour. Those flowers are perfect in that vase and I am still in love with Gail. Well done for the fair on Saturday, hope you do as well this weekend. You'll be booking those tickets any day now. xxxxxxx

  21. That dress is a stunner! You look far too elegant to be schlepping about in the kitchen making soup, love, although to be fair, it does look delicious, and it matches the cat! She's almost as beautiful as you, and how wonderful that she likes a cuddle.
Of course your customers bring you flowers, I bet you are the most helpful and friendliest seller ever! They look gorgeous in the glug jug next to Gail. The mirror repurposing was inspired, hope your crafting afternoon went well.
Poor Stephen, where's his meow gone? And Polly's under the bed? Is she jealous of the newcomer? Oh cat politics - it's more complex that blogger dynamics!
    Love you! xxxxx

  25. You know as lovely as this post is, I was just absolutely focused on that gorgeous dress you are wearing. Love dresses with black backgrounds and eye popping colour on top!

It sounds like you have had a really good weekend. Love the repurposed mirror what a cracking (no pun intended) idea.

Aww cute puss. We found a stray on Friday well judging by his/her scrawny frame and no collar I assumed it was a stray. I was on my way to the shops and hoped to find the kitty on my way back so I could lure them back to our house and could of fed them. But no sign of the poor thing.

  31. You are glorious in that maxi, I adore it. I saw your recipe for the soup on FB and have never thought to use apples in such soup. I think I'll have to try it and perhaps even roast it all before making it into soup.

What I wouldn't do to go through those racks of clothes.

  32. Aww, hehe, maybe name your new friend something 'monkey'-ish as she's 'clinging' onto you like baby monkeys and Capuchin's do! :-)
Love the dress, very elegant and you did a fantastic job with the trellis! A true artist!
and more hugs to Stephen Squirrel, hope his meow comes back soon! xx

O, I do love pookie cuddles!!! Are Stephen and Polly starting to accept their new housemate??
Gawd, that mirror was gorgeous, and it's also gorgeous repurposed as trellis! We've just finally popped my trip of similar mirrors on the wall...not fully sure about the positioning, gotta live with it for a while before I know for certain.
I'm glad you were frantically busy at the fair, I reckon that means you did well! Go for it, killer!

She a pretty beast, no doubt about that.

I love the dress you are wearing in this post, and the tour around your neighbourhood. I live in New Zealand where a house built in 1900=1910 is considered really old. Looks like I have lots of archival material to sift through when I'm supposed to be working (oops! that's when I'm finished working of course silly me
