I know, two blog posts in a single weekend! You'd be forgiven for thinking I don't have a social life. Truth is that I'll be hospital tomorrow for a steroid injection to my hip joint and I'm doing everything I can to avoid thinking about it.
Whilst it's infinitely preferable to having to undergo another hip replacement just yet, the very thought of an IV line makes my toes curl up in horror.
So, in between visiting the pub and catching up with friends, I've scrumped and foraged for apples, blackberries and redcurrants in gale force winds and lashing rain,
And I've cooked like a domestic goddess on speed.
Check out my blackberry and redcurrant pie and my apple and vanilla muffins.
I've packed my bag hoping that glamour in the face of adversity will see me through (although I can't imagine I'll be looking too pretty with a 7am appointment).
I'm getting accustomed to how I'll be living for the next few days, lying about dressed in vintage lounge wear and catching up on my stash of vintage Bollywood films and books. (I'm probably the only vintage lovin' woman who can't be arsed with Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe.)
Clockwise from top left: Zeenat Aman in Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Sharmila Tagore in An Evening In Paris, Dimple Kapadia in Bobby, Aruna Irani in Caravan, Helen in Jewel Thief and Bindu in Kati Patang |
Vintage hooded maxi (the sweetest Squirrel), 1960s shag pile rug & vintage swirly cushions (car boot sale), patchwork cushions and curtains made by me |
Best of luck tomorrow I'll be thinking of you. You will look fabulous darling!
ReplyDeleteGood luck for tomorrow - those doctors and nurses are in for a treat - am sure those slippers will brighten up their Monday!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomoz Vix big hugs to you me beauty xxx
ReplyDeleteVixcita,
ReplyDeleteAll the best for tomorrow amor. I will be thinking of you. Here is me complaing about an MRI on Tuesday.
That hooded Maxi is so fabulicious like you.I don't care for Marilyn or Audrey either.
Cant wait to see you on Friday!
Besotes
good luck tomorrow! I hate the hospital. Couple of years ago I had to go and I wore Hello Kitty socks with pompoms. I think I made their day.
ReplyDeleteDimple! What a great name. Those Bollywood ladies are so beautiful.
All the best and a big kiss for tomorrow. You'll be the most stunning patient there that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteI do have such a soft spot for Bollywood, and I love Bindu, she's one of my faves.
Take care love. See you very soon.
xxxxxxx
I loathe IVs too - I have to look firmly in the opposite direction and breathe very deeply. Nasty things, but then they deliver small miracles to the bloodstream.
ReplyDeleteYou will perk up the IV administering ward pretty significantly in your planned slippers and dressing gown and I'm sure you'll look the very image of languorous glamour when you're reclining and recuperating afterwards.
Best of luck with the hospital treatment Vix (I know that cat-backing-away-from-going-out-in-the-rain feeling well lol). Try and enjoy your downtime - maybe by planning your next escape to the sun ... fingers-crossed and good vibes sent - the hospital staff won't know what to do with all the GLAMOUR xxx
ReplyDeleteLOVE your maxi dress. Love your blog. Good luck for tomorrow. That dressing gown and those slippers will brighten the grey dreary hospital no doubt about it :) Lou x

ReplyDeleteThinking of you lovely!
ReplyDeleteX
Good luck tomorrow, you'll be the talk of the place with those fabulous slippers.
ReplyDeleteYou swagged yourself quite a bounty of fruit.
You clutching that basket with your blue and white gingham dress reminded me of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz! x
Good luck, I'll be thinking of you. Lots of love xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck for tomorrow xx
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that all goes well with your hospital stay!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a short and sweet hospital stay. You certainly will be the best dressed one there, no doubt about it. Enjoy languishing about as best you can. xoxox, Pat
ReplyDeleteBest of luck tomorrow! You will be the most stylish woman there for sure!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add that MM and Audrey Hepburn, especially Audrey Hepburn, have the most boring style.
ReplyDeleteloads of love to you sweetxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteGood luck for tomorrow, Vix. I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well ~ will be thinking of you x
ReplyDeleteI thought your appointment must be this week, but hadn't remembered that it was Monday. Good luck with it, my darling - this time tomorrow, it will all be done with, and hopefully the effects will be magical!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly will be brightening up the clinic in your feathery leopard print slippers and red kimono - glamourous at ALL times! You look fabulous in that hooded maxi from Vanessa, such great autumn colours. And more domestic goddess-ery in beautiful gingham! The pie and the muffins look delicious, but did you actually eat any? Knowing you aren't much of a dessert girl, maybe Jon had a HUGE pud that day!
I'll be thinking of you, sweetheart, hope it goes well. xxxxx
Oh, good luck Vix. I had (a smaller one) a steroid injection in my knee. It did hurt at the time but after my knee pain was a distant memory. I just swore out loud (then apologised to the sweet young doctor). Guess I don't look like the swearing type. You will be looking gorgeous through the procedure, at least xxx
ReplyDeleteGood luck for tomorrow. xxx
ReplyDeleteBig love to you for hospital tomorrow. I see you packed slippers lol, I love your choice. I will be thinking of you. X
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I hope you get through okay!
ReplyDeleteYou'll be the most stylish patient in the hospital, I'm sure :) Love that apron. I have a blackberry bush in my backyard that I refuse to dig out---free fruit for cobbler and muffins!
I'll be thinking of you, dear Vix. Bring them a muffin and they'll treat you like the goddess you are. xoxo
ReplyDeleteKeep smiling.
ReplyDeleteLove from Mum
xx
Wishng you the best tomorrow dear Vix. I'm sure they will get one glance at you and treat you like royalty. Kisses xoxo/Madison )
ReplyDeleteOh Boo Boo. My sweet Vix. You are doing the correct thing by staying distracted. I have had 4 cortisone shots in my spine. Really. I know the feeling of anxiety beforehand. And it's over very quickly and it most likely WILL HELP!!!!! I wish you the best of luck. I wore my most gorgeous underwear and full make-up to my procedures. It helps to feel beautiful. I'm sure you will go in there looking your most Aishwarya Rai radiant. Sending you calm healing vibes from across the ocean. You'll be Bollywood dancing again before you know it. LOVE!!!!!
ReplyDeletebest of luck, dear vix, I know you'll be fine and doing it well!! xx
ReplyDeletehello vix , its not that bad at all, i had this done a few years ago , just a word of advice though , do rest after , i know its going to be hard for you but the first time i had it done i didn't rest went to work the next day and it made it worse, the time i rested it was much better , hope you are ok x
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-wishing you the best of luck and take care xxx
ReplyDeleteLoving your Bollywood vibe and sincerely hoping that it will keep your mind off the injection. Very best wishes for a smooth ride tomorrow. Cx
ReplyDeleteGood luck for tomorrow - on the bonus side you'll look absolutely stunning, wow the staff & other patients there and hopefully the procedure will pass in a as quick a jiffy as possible x
ReplyDeleteYou'd never know you weren't feeling 100% cos you always look so bloody stunning. (Don't you ever have an off day?) Absolutely gorgeous maxi from Vanessa, in which you look the dogs bollocks. Another pie...lucky Jon. Hope all goes well tomorrow, pleased to read they will preserve your dignity! xxx
ReplyDeleteMy dear queen of beauty it is always far worse to think about it than to go though it.
ReplyDeleteYou wont have to undergo another hip replacement I am sure. They are working towards keeping your own bones as long and good conditions as possible. Ask the traumatologist about the mother cells. I had injected in my knees and the resulti is amazing.
You know I wish you all the best tomorrow.
I will be holding your hand from here and sending you lots of sunshine ( sick of it)
All the best for tomorrow, Vix. I know it's easy for me to say, but it just has to be got through, and you'll feel so much better afterwards. Take care of youself and don't overdo it when you get home. xxx
ReplyDeletewish you all the best for tomorrow you bohemian goddess! and on the positive side you look amazing here!
ReplyDeletekiss
O, my darling gorgeous wench, I'm sure it'll all go smoothly and you'll be bopping around like a mad thing by the evening!!
ReplyDeleteGlamour is indeed the perfect way to distract from the horrors! You look totally scrumptious lounging upon your throne there!
MMMMM, pie and muffins!!! Crikey, Jon probably wondered what hit him!!!
Love Helga xxxXXXxxx
You'll be the most glamorous woman there. I hope it all goes quickly x
ReplyDeleteOh Vix big hug! I hate injections so you have all my empathy. The hospital won't know what's hit it when you swan through in your finery!
ReplyDeleteSpooky...I said see you on the other side before I had my whole medical mishap 5 weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteHospitals are the worst place that is for sure. At least you aren't going in for full on surgery and chances of complications should be zero.
I know it won't quell the anxiety, but you look fabulous and so does your baking!
Sending healing thoughts and good vibes your way : )
bisous
Suzanne
Hope all is feeling better very soon. I hate hospitals too but pretty sure that you will be the most glamorous there! Those muffins look delicious.
ReplyDeleteYou will be the most glamourous patient those doctors have ever seen. I hope the procedure goes smoothly and you are home and back to your old self (and able to tie your own shoelaces) in no time.
ReplyDeleteThe pie and muffins look delicious. Jon may want you to pretend you are going to the hospital more often just to get home-baked treats...
Wishing you the very best of luck with your steroid injection tomorrow dear Vix, just remember how wonderful it will be to be able to tie your own laces again, and rest and be kind to yourself as you recover.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfits as usual. You look utterly adorable with your Pocahontus braids.
Sending you lots of hugs and best wishes for tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYvonne xx
Good luck for tomorow hon ... M x
ReplyDeletedear lady, wish you a quick recovering!, hospitals are so stressful!, but I'm sure you're going to fight any unpleasant event with lots of glamour and great attitude!
ReplyDeleteI've stayed in hospital with Mr.A. last weeks and my funny colorful shawls and slippers made me feel better. And nurses were so kind with us!
besos & salud
Wishing you well for tomorrow Vix. Hopefully some glamour will cheer up such an experience.
ReplyDeleteTake it easy.
P x
Aw Vix, be brave! Sending you warmest wishes for a comfortable (and glamorous)stay in hospital and I hope you'll be back on your feet in no time. You'll be able to get round the boot sale and the chazzers in half the time. xxxx
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes as well as can be expected at the hospital lovely Vix. I'm sure you will be the most glam lady there. I'm glad I'm not the only Vintage lady who loves Audrey and Marilyn - I like them both fine, but I'm not obsessed with their movies or anything. Honestly I prefer a good horror from the 1970s (actually I prefer fashion from that time also) *hugs*
ReplyDeleteLots of love, thinking of you. It will soon be over and you will feel much better.
ReplyDeletePam in Texas.xx
I'm sure you'll be the best dressed patient by a mile! Needles at 7am doesn't sound like much fun, but sounds like the recuperation will be! I really must check out Bollywood - still looking for Monsoon Wedding in the charity shops. I like Audrey, but don't aspire to look like her and Marilyn I can take or leave.
ReplyDeleteTake Care Vix. I will be thinking of you. X
ReplyDeleteMake sure you wear your divine robe with the opening at the front, not the back. The red and your slippers will see you through this. You will be treated like the star you are.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, positive wishes your way. I am happy you have this option to fix you up! See you soon.
Oh Sweetie!!! Nobody looks as good as you when they deal with medical issues, I promise, early morning or not. All will be well, and I'm so sorry you have to deal with it at all.
ReplyDeleteLife definitely serves up some crap, but how you deal with it separates the styley ones from the not so styley ones, right? XXXXXOOOOO
I hope things go well for you, dear Vix. I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts for you tomorrow!! I'm sure you'll look quite glamourous at the hospital!!
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and relax and recuperate!
Lots of lovely luck with it all, and hopefully you'll be dancing up a storm bollywood-style before you know it!
ReplyDeletexx
Thinking of you -- respecting you for looking fabulous even when in agony!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck tomorrow and I hope that there isn't too much discomfort from the injection. I got a kick out of the hospital instructions mentioning "patient dignity." In my experience, all dignity goes out the window with medical procedures once you hit 40.
ReplyDeleteI just did a Google search on the procedure so now I have a visual in my head of you looking fecking sexacious lying face down on the table getting your anaesthetic and steroid drip. All the medical staff will be clamouring to attend to you and the horny interns will be popping in to check out your fabulous rump!!! The Phoenix had the same procedure on his elbow and it worked wonders in beating the joint pain- he's desperate for another shot now. I imagine you would have gone through this procedure prior to your first hip replacement, to help you cope with the pain in the interim. Imagine the relief you're going to start feeling in a couple of days time when the cortisone kicks in and you'll be wanting to kick up your heels again!! Big hugs and arse-squeezes to you my darling. PS. Yes, I'm VERY relieved, it all makes sense to me now and I feel I hopeful. Thank you so much xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteVix, I'm so sorry that you're having to spend time in the hospital, and hoping that the steroid injection brings you relief. Your leopard slippers with feathers are the perfect accessory for the day. 'Glamour in the face of adversity' is the only way to go. Works like a charm!
ReplyDeleteWill be thinking about you tomorrow.
What a treat- your many posts this weekend. I hope all goes well with you and here's to being a vintage loving post modern goddess of delights. See you on the other side! xo!
ReplyDeleteSo sad to hear that you have to go through all that horror. Good luck! Can't imagine you not looking gorgeous even at 7 am appointment. Love your two-braided hairstyle, you look so much like an Indian, it suits you so much.
ReplyDeletegood luck miss Vix! I hope hospital isn't too boring and that once your better you'll be able to Bollywood dance with all those pretty Indian stars! I have a huge Indian supermarket down the street with a video rental section. They always look at me funny when i have to ask if the movie have english subtitles but i love 'em!
ReplyDeleteBe well soon!
This seems like a lot of trouble to go to for a little lying around, but if the fringe benefits are more mobility and Bollywood movies, then it's perfect! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well for you. What a gorgeous apron (to say nothing about your hospital wear ...)!
ReplyDeleteLove, Biba x.
Best of luck, Vix - hope it goes OK and isn't too painful x
ReplyDeleteAll the best Vix, I don't like hospitals either, not a good visitor or patient.
ReplyDeleteOh Vix I will be thinking of you......all the best you poor thing........you will be looking fabulous and that will make the yucky things go away....I am sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's just fantastic to see you in the wonderful 70's hooded maxi.....I am so thrilled you love it.
Sorry for the lack of comments....we are both sick and with the opening only a few weeks away....eeekkk we are going to be more than crazy.
Love V
Best wishes....lovely Vix......
I am cringing at the thought ...by now over and done with I hope ...Soon have your heels back on
ReplyDeleteYou'll be on the road to recovery by now: hope the procedure wasn't too vile. Look forward to seeing you in your stylish lounging outfits. XXX
ReplyDeletefeck and ow! you will be done by the time you read this, I'm sure the doctor's were most delighted with your gown of delight and sexy slippers, rest well and take the utmost care of yourself, you are very precious! x x
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your appointment!
ReplyDeletexxx
ps. is the cover of that book from Devdas? I loved that film!
You poor dear! It sounds positively GHASTLY! I hope that it all goes well, and that glamour will be the medicine that helps the medicine (so to speak.) If you would like to know about a natural remedy that should help with your joint pain, let me know and I'll pass on some info to you. It's not only good for joints, but gut and skin and immune system too, so an all-round good thing to consume.
ReplyDeleteHope your lounging is as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances.
Much love from Rose of
www.foreveronthecatwalkoflife.blogspot.com
Best of luck Vix, I hope it all goes ok. x
ReplyDeleteYou are a DREAM in that first photo!
ReplyDeleteWe'll all have you in our thoughts and hearts and look forward to seeing you on the flip side. It's a relief to know that you're on your way to feeling more like your self again. Take care.
xxxxxx
Agree Judith/Style Crone - glamour in the face of adversity is the way to go. And I bet you look fab at 7am in the morning. Hope it all goes well & look forward to catching up soon.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Vix! Take Care
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, sounds painful. Much love and many blessings to Ye!xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I've missed this, dreadful internet issues at the moment. I hope it all went well and wasn't too painful. An IV line sounds horrible, but I am hoping it has performed magic as I know it can and that you are feeling MUCH better now.
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable lounging around in that hooded maxi, I love it so much. It looks soft and comforting. And you have some good plans for how to spend your recovery. You may not be bothered about Audrey, but I think you have something of her magnetic charisma about you.
Domestic goddess indeed. Those bits and bobs look lush! Did the hospital staff enjoy your casual wear? I bet the hospital was a-flutter with the Vix effect! xxxxx
Good Luck to you, hope you get better soon - Hope you delay the operation as long as you can but still, it is painful -
ReplyDeleteTake it easy!
Arianexo
My thoughts are with you lovely. I have had 2 of these myself into my hip joint before I had my major hip opps so I understand how you are feeling. Rest up much love and big hugs, dee xxxxx
ReplyDeleteHospital appointments loom like a black cloud. I hate them and sympathise fully with you. I think you'll be the most glamourous outpatient in the entire building if that's any consolation. Your recuperation plan sounds great too. Sometimes the recovery is worth the ordeal. Hope everything goes well xxx
ReplyDeleteWell if I know anything it is that you are going to look FABULOUS during this procedure.
ReplyDeleteThey will probably think they are dealing with Cher and you will get special treatment. ;) hehehe
Best of luck to you Gorgeous!
You'll be the most glamours patient they ever had! A red dressing gown and leopard slippers- you're too hot to trot!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Hope it's not too horrible.
ReplyDeleteVix, I hope your procedure goes well and you heal quickly and easily. You look gorgeous as always. xo
ReplyDeleteHope the pain goes quickly.
ReplyDeletehi vix .i'm sorry to hear about your visit to the hospital . it's never nice to have to go. i sure you will look stunning and everyone will be extra kind to a beautiful princess like yourself. i never knew of all those bollywood beauties. your house looks lovely. i'll say a little prayer for you today. keep well lucyx
ReplyDeleteI hope your hospital visit goes okay and isn't too painful. That hooded maxi is fabulous. You look like a young Cher with your hair like that. The blackberry and redcurrant pie is making my mouth water.

xx
Hope the hip's feeling better, bet you lit up the room with that kimono and the sexy hausfrau slippers! Even if you do have to sit down for a bit, that sofa is just gorgeous, I know how lovely your house is, so at least you're in beautiful surroundings. That Bollywood book looks rather fantastic!
ReplyDeleteFinally catching up! That pie & muffins look almost as scrumptious as you, the most glamourous invalid ever! So glad you were well enough to hit London, you were definitely a hit in London! XXX
ReplyDelete
