We've been on the road since 8am. Starting at the Staffordshire car boot sale, back to the Black Country to deliver a slice of retro cool to a vintage lovin' pal and then travelling through the three counties of Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire to pick up an eBay win (a shop display rack bought for a steal).
Feet on the dashboard, windows down, singing along to Radio One at the top of our voices and stopping off for chip shop chips on the way home. Bliss!
It's the first time since Sunday I've worn make up or anything other than a bikini and the eye liner's looking distinctly wonky from the lack of practice.
Check out this trio of retro fabulousness I bought today from the car boot sale. A shagadelic hand-made 1960s rug, tacky plastic planter and ridiculous fake fur covered stool which came to a grand total of £12. They originally came from the home of a 93 year-old lady who recently moved into sheltered accommodation. She must have been one groovy chick back in the day!
The stool is crammed with vintage sewing notions, Sylko thread in all manner of wonderful colours, daisy braiding and tasselled trim, darning wool, needles, dressmaking pins, zips, Wonder Web, bias binding in glorious shades, pinking sheers and enough to keep a sewing whore like me content for months.
This ceramic magic eye / Hand of Fatima good luck charm (50p).
Our 1971 Volkswagen Type 4 Variant 411 LE - yes, that is another bus under cover. Jon buys knackered VWs like I do maxi dresses. |
It'll look perfect hanging from Ebbie's rear view mirror once Jon's finished her paintwork.
1960s daisy print child's dress (courtesy of the divine Krista), fringed suede jerkin (£10, Second To None), Hush Puppies boots (£2, car boot sale) |
A day of favourite things continues - chilled rose, a bastard massive salad for tea and The Apprentice on TV later. To further add to the excitement I'm off again in the morning on a trip which involves bargain hunting, booze and the company of some fabulous blogging babes.
See you soon.
Oh my lord, the stool! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy, busy! I love that stool, my nan had one which was covered in psychedelic cord but I always recall the interior being sticky from a rogue boiled sweet!

Woohoo!! Road-tripping! You came to the East!
ReplyDeleteLove your Minihaha outfit today: fringed suede, long dark hair and bare feet, making no concessions to the sudden nip in the air. Those are the best car boot stands, when an older person is having a clear out. I'm all over them like a rash.
Chip shop chips. Now you're just taunting us.
