I'm referring to the "Anything that can go wrong, will" unwritten rule of the universe as opposed to the Nineties Spear of Destiny album of the same name. Here's why Sod's Law figures heavily in my world this weekend.

All week we've looked forward to visiting a vintage fair, a posh pub lunch paid for by friends and a house party. Saturday morning rolls round, Jon goes down with the lurgy and we're grounded. All dressed up with only the newsagent to go to.

Nothing of note in the town centre charity shops for weeks and the day I plan to do my Xmas shopping I find a mother load of cool vintage clobber and have to come home early spent up and loaded down.

The rest of the world moans that vintage clothes are tiny but almost everything I bought swamps me.

I buy two amazing 1970s leather coats to brighten up my winter and book a three week trip to Goa an hour later. Should have saved my cash for sunscreen!
Can't wait to pull on a string bikini, position myself under that boat and catch a few rays.
We're not going until New Year's Day (no partying for us on NYE!) but rest assured I'll probably bore you rigid with my packing and plans in the meantime.
I'm not used to being on-line on a Saturday. I'm off to catch up with my blog reading and hopefully live vicariously through those of you having a real life today.
Have a fabulous weekend.
See you soon.

Love that green leather coat. That color looks so good on you. You find the most unique and amazing clothes. So lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove your green trenchcoat!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with that princess coat.... and the 60s dresses. They are so gorgeous..... <3
ReplyDeleteAnd your green coat is amazing. I would wear it all day when I was you.
Bit jealous of your holiday. When we are sitting here in the cold and you lying in a bikini in the sun.....
xxx and have a wonderfull weekend!
Love your green coat, Vix. Similar situation here - everybody but me sniffing, snotting and generally feeling sorry for themselves!

ReplyDeleteOh Vix I am so sorry to hear Jon is under the weather (rather be under that boat!).
ReplyDeleteThe green leather trench looks fabulous on you. It is a great colour for you.
Here's hopig for a speedy recovery.
I am sorry to hear about your battle with Sod's Law, and to hear that Jon is sick (I had to look up what 'down with the lurgy was'. I love that I am learning all these great terms from you!)
ReplyDeleteGreat clobber you found (hehe, another Vix-ism).
Here's to booking your holiday. I look forward to reading all about it, both before and after you go.
Well, things happend, and as long as the illness is curable, no problem at all, but annoying, I know.
ReplyDeleteI thought what was going on with you not going to Goa this year.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Vix I love your shoes :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not used to doing nothing on a Saturday either. Love that coat so very much, it's utterly wonderful. You look fab, love it with the violet tights. The little beige coat is very cute indeed. Hope you're suitably employed now and Jo's feeling better. You just find the best stuff!

Sorry for the sickness at home! We've got some of that too. Love, love the green leather number, and I did own that 70's zip-up dress - so groovy.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be online either, but I couldn't resist to comment this wonderful coat and outfit!!!Here is already pitch dark and the sight of you and Goa's beach makes me happy!!
ReplyDeleteThis is also a bad 'Charity shop' mojo time for me, and I'm glad to see such great finds, I hope they'll bring me luck!!!
Love xxxxx
You found some really cute vintage items and you look fantastic in the green leather coat! Do you ever sell the clothes online?
ReplyDeleteBig hug to my sweet Jon get better soon my friend! Vix I want this coat, and that baby blue one too. You are the only gal I know that I honestly want to steal every item in your wardrobe. You look delish in this color and I love the purple tights, fab color combo! Those two mod dresses are to die for if only they were bright colors I'd have to have them. Your beautiful self made me smile this morning, thanks dear I needed that.
ReplyDeleteNow just take me to Goa and life will be perfect again.
I love you my friend, I really do!
Xxxxxxxxxoooooooo

Love the colour and style of your green leather coat, it looks fabulous on you (but then, everything you wear looks fabulous on you.)
ReplyDeleteWow, what kind of charity shops have that much vintage clobber in them?! Not the ones around here that's for sure. They've been full of nothing but tatty old gift boxes and endless displays of new stuff, urgh! This time of year is a bugger for the lurgy. It's only a matter of time before you pick something up. The coat is fab. The green and purple look great together xxx
ReplyDeleteTickets booked! Nice one! What a way to start the new year xx
ReplyDeleteWishing your Jon a speedy healthy recovery! I love your thrift store finds! Love you in that lima bean green coat!
ReplyDeleteI've had similar happenings, I was meant to be out on my work Christmas party lastnight, instead I was laid up ill too. It's horrible. Love your coat. X
ReplyDeleteBloody lurgies everywhere you look. Luckily Jimbo and I are well and are actually off out for the night (v excited). Hope Jon gets well v soon. Love the green coat and all your buys. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous green. Totally cheers me up! Vix, thank you so much for your very encouraging comments on my blog. I know you struggle with arthritis and every time you wear a pair of fab boots I am so impressed.
ReplyDeleteLove you, Connie*
I do hope that Jon is on the mend quickly. Little V has been down and out this week with days of high temps so nothing as fabulous as a vintage motherload happened her this week. I'm loving the yellow check coat from your motherload. But most of all I am flipping over your green coat, I'd have to say a green leather coat really should be on my dream list. You look damn good in green too.
ReplyDeletePlease post loads of lovely photos of Goa on your trip. Wishing Jon a speedy recovery. Better he be sick now than on vacation!
ReplyDeleteWohoo! Finally got your trip to Goa booked, countdown begins. That princess coat is stunning and what a find on the welsh tapestry jerkin.
ReplyDeleteLoving the green leather coat on you x
But your green coat is amazeballs! I always find that sod's law appears to go into overdrive in the winter months. Also, don't forget you can always make clothes smaller, but its pretty hard to make them bigger. Also - Goa? Hells YES *queue travelling envy*
ReplyDeleteUgh on the lurgy--the hubster had it earlier this week and now I'm laid low with it!!! And with 3 parties to have gone to!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous leather coat--how i love that green!!
Wow did you pick up some goodies!!
I never get bored of your packing posts!! I travel vicariously to India through you!!
I bet you will look stunning in that string bikini too! x
ReplyDeleteThe green coat is wonderful, what a find! Shame the other things were too big, but at least you can sell them on to fund Goa trips. Poor Jon, sending him get well wishes x Roll on Goa so you can get some sun!
ReplyDeleteLove the trench coat. Pairing it with those tights was inspired. I also like how you echo the colors in your earrings. Very creative outfit.
ReplyDeletePoor you, poor John! Hope he's ok now. Wow, you DID do well on the charity circuit!! That leather jacket is rather fine!x
ReplyDeleteYou look great in that leather trench, love it! The 2 60s dresses are so cute <3!! Hope your man feels better. At least you can look forward to the beach :)

ReplyDeletewell the coat looks amazing and will get plenty of use next year! Rather jealous that you will be jetting off into the sun while it'll be freezing here for the rest of us :( x
ReplyDeleteLove all of your new goodies, especially the tan leather jacket. The lime colored one is really cute, too.
ReplyDeleteHope Jon is on the mend, nothing quite like a man gone sick on you!! Do not give him a bell!! Love your green coat and your coloured tights. You could never bore me with your plans to travel.
ReplyDeleteLove your coat, and your shoes and tights Vix, poor John, we've all had the lurgy here too, one by one, hope he's feeling better. I love all your finds, especially that first maxi dress. I can imagine Helga in the bottom middle dress with the tie at the neck. I actually love hearing people's travel plans, especially packing lists for some weird reason, and that boat on the beach looks so peaceful, I can just imagine lying there in the heat, sigh. xx
ReplyDeleteI'ma keep joyfully repeating "mother load of cool vintage clobber" in the hopes that one day happens to me :P I do occasionally run across cool vintage clothes in ol' southern USA, but it almost never fits me, or the few friends' whose sizes I know.
ReplyDeleteYou just get more beautiful in each post, Vix. That green coat is utterly brilliant, and so is planning a three week vacay!

Love you more than avocado! Sarah xxx
love all your new finds! great work!
ReplyDeletePoor Jon, I'm sure you are being a dedicated, caring and patient nurse, Vix... Not your favourite role, I know!
ReplyDeleteStill, despite missing out on social stuff, you did find some fabulous goodies, and even if they don't fit you, they will contribute to funds for future trips and partying, I'm sure!
You look stunning as ever in that amazing green leather coat, especially with the bright tights and fabularse shoes. A vision of colour to cheer up the winter gloom, that's what you are!
Hurray for Goa, and I am blowing a kiss, from a safe distance, to the poorly patient! xxxxx
Sooo envious of your Goa trip, how lovely to have that to look forward to and only a couple of weeks away.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Jon's got the lurgy (every other person seems to have it at the mo') I'm sure he'll soon recover with you playing nursemaid and looking so hot in that FAB green coat, you look fantabulous in that colour! Great vintage buys btw.
As, sorry you missed your outing and hope Jon is well soon. But a good thrift shop haul can always cheer one up, eh? You must be so excited about your trip! Xoxo

It always is sod’s law, but better for Jon to be under the weather now rather than at Christmas! You must be so excited for your long awaited return to Goa. I’m sure New Year’s Day will roll around in no time – what a way to kick off the year! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat green coat is so lovely. I would be delighted to find something like that in a charity shop, think I need to train my eye better.
ReplyDeleteSod's law. It's powerful, seems to rule supreme most of the sodding time.
Sorry to hear about the lurg. Urgh. Hope it is short-lived and doesn't get passed on.
That picture of a boat on a beach, what glorious light at the end of the tunnel. I am looking forward to all the packing and plans. I'll take vicarious if that's all that's going! :) xxx

ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful in that green coat! The earrings are stunning too, love those colours.
Hmm, I'm afraid only no 1 gets the sympathy here! Poor Jon, hope he's better soon. Boy1 threw up everywhere last night so I'm currently on tenterhooks wondering if it was a one off or whether the rest of us are all doomed as well.

ReplyDeleteWe call it 'Murphy's Law' here in the States. I have no idea why.
ReplyDeletePoor Jon. So sorry to hear he's not well.
It seems your local charity shops have a never-ending supply of vintage. Love the lurex trimmed maxi and the blue/brown print dress.
I talked to a lot of folks about India today when I was selling at the bazaar. Between that and your pic, I'm really hankering to get back there!
Thanks for much for the label collage. Will post it soon.
