I'm a step closer to being fixed! I'm just back from the dentist who, being the coolest bloke in NHS dentistry, waived his £48 fee and fixed my busted tooth for free. He saw me in Mumbai a few years ago but couldn't get my attention over the traffic noise on Colaba Causeway. I loved it when he told me that, being spotted by someone you know in a foreign city half-way around the world with a population of over 21 million is totally insane.
I'm supremely grateful but, man, is PK heavy handed with the aesthetic? My face is so numb I'm speaking like I've had a head injury and I reckon I'll need a straw to drink my bitter at the Black Country Arms later (but at least I've got more cash than I initially expected so the first round's on me).
I unearthed this Berketex Boutique maxi & head scarf when I was rummaging in the wardrobe to make room for my new acquisitions (I donated 5 pairs of boots & sandals, 3 tee shirts, 2 sarongs, four bags, a purse full of jewellery, a bikini, 3 scarves, a dodgy-looking ornament and a stack of paperbacks to the Sally Army this morning). Over the past two years it's seen me through everything from arranging Mum's funeral, hosting dinner parties to cruising down the Mandovi river in Goa on a disco boat and large-ing it to Spiritualised & Groove Armada at The Big Chill. Not bad for an outlay of 99p.
Yesterday's free bag needed help, beige wasn't really doing it for me so I gave it a home dye job between last night's Olympic action. Dylon's Flamingo Pink (courtesy of Annie) is so much more me!

Right, it's early doors this evening and I'd better get my act together if I'm going to make the pub for 6pm.
Have a fabulous weekend and see you very soon!

Good on your dentist! Mine gave me free treatment last time I went with my wisdom toothache as I think she was baffled that I actually PAY for my treatment, in a sea of her usual benefit claiming patients! Hoorah for kind Dentists :)
ReplyDeleteLove what you did to your bag - looks much better and more you flamingo pink! :)x
I am not too keen on pastels normally, but this dress is just lovely, it works well with your dark hair and complexion. Have a good night and mind you don't dribble and drool too much lol

I love that dress and scarf on you, the colours are so beautifully summery and ice creamy and pretty. And to see you through so much for a measley 99p? Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great dye job on the bag, beige is so not you, but hot pink? Yes indeed.
What a kind dentist you have, he sounds a cool dude. Glad to hear the tooth is fixed, hope the ankle and the toe nail follow suit. Now get that round in, and don't incur any other injuries this weekend, love! Have a good one. xxxxx
That's a great outfit. Flamingo pink = rocking! I'm soon going to paint my toilet room in that.
ReplyDeleteI am currently also watching the Olympics (5am!) Remind me NOT to let any of my kids participate in competitive BMX racing! Carnage!
x Op shop gods will smile down on you due to that donation you just made! x
You do look like yummy pastel sorbet in that outfit! The bag is definitely better as pink. You are much braver than I when it comes to dyeing items. I would be afraid that I would make a complete mess! That is an unexpected windfall when your dentist waives the fee - that would never happen over here!
ReplyDeletethe ombre effect you gave that bag is incredible. i need to get my paws on one asap and try this!
ReplyDeleteyour whole outfit today is gorg.
i love the story about the dentist, that really is amazing!

Fabulous coloured bag now! I never think to dye something if I don't like the colour... How jammy you got your dental care for free!! My dentist is so nice I almost don't mind paying x
ReplyDeleteMy favourite place to donate, the Sally Ann!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have the skill to experiment with the dye. Everytime I've tried, I get a tye dyed effect...
I have a friend who lives in western Canada bump into an buddy from his British Army days in Jordan of all places. The world really is a small place.
Wow, great dress! It's fab when you unearth old treasures. You have a very cool dentist - mine will try and charge for everything they can! I'm sure your theory about clothes karma is right - I've been spotting lots more vintage recently after making some donations.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any tips on finding dye cheaply, other than eBay?
That frock looks amazing on you and I love what you have done with the free bag.
ReplyDeleteThat is totally crazy that you and your dentist were both in Mumbai at the same time.
Brilliant dye job on your bag. Nice one. Wish you better on the teeth front.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me thinking about dying my boring beige bag. Those earrings are crazy. When I go to the dentist I feel like a need a sippy cup afterwards, it's that or dribble all over myself.
ReplyDeleteYou are looking rather RAH!
ReplyDeleteLike a summer dream walking! That is so cool about your dentist in Mumbai, it really is a small world, isn't it? Take care of that tooth. Well, take care of all of them but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteyou're fabulous as a summery colorful gypsy princess, love your dress and hairscarf and earrings!, also love that pink dyed bag, well done!
ReplyDeleteGlad your visit to the nice dentist was not so expensive!
besos & weekend
The bag is just absolute awsome!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs
I like that you donate when you have scored more. I do similar with Habitat here. The colours in your dress and scarf are reminiscent of Neapolitan ice cream!! Yummy!!! ♥
ReplyDeletePoor you! I hate anaesthetic! You look charming though! Love that dress on you!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact he saw you in Goa! I was tracked down by a violin-player I knew vaguely, who knew I was SOMEWHERE in Bali when I lived there! Goodness knows how they found me, it's the size of Kent!
Lovely!
ReplyDeleteZ xx

ReplyDeleteVery much like you belong in an australian summer, LOL!
Not only are you one in a million you are one in 21 million! I love this guy already, unheard of in the states, it would never happen. Although I was offered a free tooth tattoo by mine:). You look so pretty in this maxi and scarf like a sherbert gypsy and the bag is a treat! I love how you are always exchanging your stash of clothes, I'm starting to get the hang of it too. Have a blast this weekend at Liz's too if we don't touch base next week for sure. I miss you something awful!
ReplyDeleteLoveyougirl!
Krista
Obsessed. Love love love this look. The colours, the print- the head scarf! So great.
ReplyDeleteLoving the summery look and your bag makeover... very pretty :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling dentist! Do hope your mouth did not detract from the Friday night bevvies... have a fab weekend!
What a nice dentist you have Vix, and generous with the anaesthetic too, though I have managed to bite through my lip without realising it, it's been so numb after the dentist's! I love what you've done with that beige bag. You've inspired me to make a new bag for my daughter because she'd inherited a black velvet hippy bag from me and she loved it but it got ripped irreparably. Your outfit is gorgeous, so summery and pretty. xx
ReplyDeleteThis whole outfit reminds me of Refreshers - my favourite sweets!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done with the bag, pink rocks! x
You seem to be stunning every day, but this was beyond stunning
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress and I can see why you've got good wear out of it as you look wonderful in it! Such a beautiful print and I love the combination of colours.
ReplyDeleteHope the straw helped. Have fun at the pub :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the colours, and what you've done with the bag! That's so cool your dentist spotted you in India, haha brilliant!! xxx
ReplyDeleteI didn't even recognize that bag! You've transformed it from ho-hum to sherbertabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice dentist. Once I waited in the visa application line at the Indian consulate in New York City and chatted with the man behind me for hours. Three months later I ran into him in a shop in suburban New Delhi. Makes you realize what a small world it really is.
Last time I had dental surgery I ended up dribbling my beer in the pub! I'd rather use a straw than take the pain though haha!
ReplyDeleteYou are unforgettable and highly noticeable all over the world !!
ReplyDeleteI love this pastel coloured maxi and everything that is pink dyed and especially for free!!
I hope you had fun at the pub and that you are feeling better!
Have a great Saturday!
Love and hugs!
xxxxxx
What an amazing dress that is, I love the matching headscarf too! You're too good at this whole DIY stuff, I wouldn't even think to dye a bag even though it's so simple! The end product looks so good, & so you! XO.
ReplyDeleteLovely in pink! The bag is a great DIY. I just unearthed an old bag that could use the same treatment; thanks for the idea!!
ReplyDeleteLove the matching dress and scarf, such glorious colours. Small world isn't? x
ReplyDeleteooooh I love the bag dye-job!!! It looks like you bought it already looking fabulous. What dear friends are the gorgeous frock and scarf with it's scrummy frill - they've been on so many adventures with you lovely Vix. I love to hear about your regular clear-outs - you're the one who inspired me to get rid of something every time I snaffled something "new". I'm getting there:)). Big hugs to you my friend, I hope your poor mouth is recovering from its ordeal! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThese colors are so alive on you and love the headwrap. Sounds like this outfit holds many memories. Great story about the dentist in Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteoh you look so summery. Hope the mouth feels better soon! That story of being spotted by your dentist is bonkers! Isn't the world a strange place!
ReplyDeleteThats good re your tooth. I need to go to the dentists but don't really want to! Lovely outfit you look fab x
ReplyDeleteOh I want to dye something "Flamingo pink" just so I can say its that colour. Which does make that bag so much better and looking great with such a fabulous outfit.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had the most wonderful weekend Vix.

Love the bag, Vix; please could we have a tutorial? xx
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit, the colours remind me of Refreshers! The bag looks great after it's dye bath.
ReplyDeleteAmazing dress...ouch I hate the dentist :(
ReplyDeleteargh! I hated my facial anaesthetic experience! You look perfectly normal - not a hint of puffiness, but you're always radiant anyway! That dress is gorgeous, such a bargain for the amount of use you've got out of it! The bag looks 1000 times better too! A lovely pink! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI hate the dentist!
ReplyDeleteYou always look simply marvelous in this Florida outfit, love your headscarf amor.that bag looks way happy now.
