A laid-back Sunday calls for suitably lazy clobber.
I love this catsuit as much now as I did when I bought it five years ago but, let's face it, when you're confronted with a wardrobe bursting at the seams with lurex, velvet, crimplene and psychedelic printed nylon denim ain't that exciting an option in the grand scheme of things.
I can't deny that it crops up with alarming frequency in my outfits. Along with second-hand battered leather, vintage suede and fake fur it makes my clothes feel less dressy and far more me.
Here's some previous outings in denim:

My favourite item of clothing ever:
Bought for 99p in 1992, it's been to North Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and travelled extensively around Europe. I don't know what I'll do when it inevitably falls apart.
My hands were steady enough to apply my eyelash extensions earlier and I've just got my feet and my roots to sort out.
See you soon.

Did you have a good weekend? Last evening was spent with the crazy gang and went well, no-one ended up in tears, paralytically drunk or disgracing themselves over dinner and, despite it being a late one, we were up bright and early this morning.
See you soon.
Aah denim, I can't help it, I do love it. It's sadly practical for the amount of crawling about on the floor I tend to do. Your waistcoat really is a really versatile piece, could you make yourself another do you think? I bet you could.
ReplyDeleteThought the bracelet would fit well with the rest of your vast collection and I was right!
x
You make casual denim look anything but! How can you make everything so stylish?!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you all had a good night.
X x
I'm not a natural denim lover but I do love all your pieces! The all in one is so special and unusual.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you ever need to worry about denim looking too casual or normal, with the way you wear it. By that I mean, you seem to seek out pieces with unusual cuts, so while it may dress down the overall look a bit, it doesn't look boring.
ReplyDeletehi vix,
ReplyDeletei just got back from skiing yesterday and went straight to a yardsale and found a 60's maxi dress that made me think of you! i adore your denim catsuit. i know i wore one in the 70's and loved it. wish i still had it.
am amazed that you can party so hard and look so great the next day. i'd be a shambles. xo janet
Fab denim look Vix, I spend most of my life in denim but alas don't have your panache with it. Loving the boots and shawl especially.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in denim Vix! Its versatility means it looks fab with a whole host of patterns and colours. I adore that waistcoat of yours, it's so you xxx
ReplyDeleteAnd why not add it to loads of outfits if you love it? Plus, with your style, it never feels 'done' or overused! It looks unique every time xx
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your outfit Vix - jeans are perfect for relaxing in!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your relaxing day!
Xx
You look great in the denim catsuit! You are soooo bloody tiny!
ReplyDeleteI think this is one of my favourite items of yours. So unexpected, considering your usual style, but utterly amazing x
ReplyDeleteYou always look extra hot in denim and jumpsuits.belt and tan boots give your outfit that extra added touch.
ReplyDeletedenim waist coat goes with everything! you will just have too make a back up denim vest.
luv ya
Ah a little nod to the Bowie birthday? :)
ReplyDeleteIt's weird because I don't think of you as a denim queen, probably because there is always so much fab stuff to take in with your outfits - but the waistcoat is a Vix (and mine) fave. It's perfect.
xx
Every time I see you in denim,I say the same thing-no one makes me covet denim more! You just rock it!This catsuit is rather sexacious,I reckon it would be fabbo glam style too! You are looking scrumptious despite a late night, wish I could say the same for myself!!!
ReplyDeleteLove YOU! SO MUCH!
Helga xxxXXXxxx
You look fab in all those outfits! Love the way you put items together :)
ReplyDeleteI must confess I am a denim girl through and through, I'm back in the jeans today!
ReplyDeleteI had an amazing demin catsuit, the only problem was I was too tall for it so it was bloody uncomfortable to wear so I sold it. Sigh
You rock denim. I love a good pair of jeans (rockabilly styled turn ups of course *wink*). You look amazing in the cat suit! Scarlett x
ReplyDeleteOMG I had this jumpsuit Vix! I wore it until it fell to bits, I absolutely loved it, I used to take the top part off, fold the bra cups down inside and wear it with a waist belt as uber-high jeans!! I've got some pics knocking about somewhere I'll have to find them!!
ReplyDeleteMuch love Amie xxxxx
Love your little tribute to Bowie in the title on his birthday, even if it was accidental! You look gorgeous as per, I'm pretty sure you could pull off anything!
ReplyDeletexoxo.
Hi my dear! You rock that catsuit, it really was a fabulous find and your waistcoat truly is a key versatile piece too! Sounds like another wonderful weekend! xxx
ReplyDeleteLooking HAWT!!
ReplyDeleteI mean this as a big compliment - nothing looks 'casual' on you! You still manage to look head-turningly cool and stylish in denim because you don't go for the dreaded look of comfort.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my beady eye out for an identical waistcoat, I plan on shopping (charity) like mad once Sonny starts school, which is tomorrow!
Love your denim outfit collage! I love how you rock a catsuit too with the gypsy scarf and all that glorious hippy jewelery. The print on the top is great!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely can't beat a bit of denim every now and again. I love that shawl though, that's fabulous. I love shawls... they aren't utilised enough nowadays. Bet you're on the countdown to the sunshine now?!?! xx
ReplyDeleteLove that denim cat suit, I especially like the fitted look of the bust/waist area. WAY better than dungarees!
ReplyDeleteYou little denim waist coat always looks gorgeous no matter what you pair it with. xxx
meeow!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you had such fun last night! You look great in denim, and it really is the perfect lazy day choice. I adore the addition of the hounds tooth tee and the shawl. Stunning!
ReplyDeletexo, Anita
I can see how that denim waistcoat would be your fave piece. If you can stand to part with it for a couple days, why not take some worn denim jeans and the waistcoat to a tailor in India and have a duplicate made? I did that with a favorite top. It took the tailor a day to make the top, when it would taken me far longer than that.
ReplyDeleteVix this looks so different yet so you at the same time. I Love it!! you make denim jumpsuits look soooo good!!
ReplyDeleteAnd that deni waistcoat looks like such a good wardrobe staple!
xx
That denim waist coat is such an awesome piece in your wardrobe!

I do love denim and after dressing up all week for work i do wear denim to at the weekends its more relaxed you can just slob out so to speak. Love the jumpsuit you do really suit denim and that waistcoat is just so lovely and practical. Enjoy the week ahead, dee xx
ReplyDeleteThat catsuit is awesome and really suits you!
ReplyDeleteMan, that catsuit fits you like a very well-fitting glove - it's perfect! And of course you can style it up differently depending on what you wear underneath.
ReplyDeleteI think you look great in denim, it could never boring on you!
Your denim waistcoat and your leather or suede jerkins are your unique Vix signature, I love them!
Glad to hear there were no dramas last night (no eyelashes on the fridge? You're slipping, love!) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Can you believe Bowie's 65?!
ReplyDeleteYou look fab - nothing casual about denim on you! One day I will own a fantastic denim catsuit like that - whether I would look as fantastic as you in one is unlikely!
Like Lakota, denim is usually the order of the day for me - active toddlers and flowing dresses don't really mix that well!
Love denim! But rarely i will wear jeans, but i will wear a jean skirt , shirt or vest
ReplyDeleteLove your catsuit
Is mild in your part of the world? I see you take pics outside
Here cold, snow and humid
But you will escape the dreadful weather soon!
Lots of love
Ariane
I love denim! So versatile, and as always you bring a whole new meaning to the word style. I havent been on here in ages but your posts always fill me full of inspiration. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA good pair of jeans is totally irreplaceable. I love all things denim, anyway, because you can do so much with it.

the catsuit fits you so well and the vest is wonderful. Here, I thought you had already departed for sunnier climes.
ReplyDelete1992? No way!!! That awesome waistcoat is the hardest working piece of clothing I have ever seen and whenever I see you wearing it, it's like seeing a dear old friend:)) I love your denim wrap-up pics!!! The only denim I have is a jacket that I love and jeans, which I put in storage nearly a year ago. xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteEyelash extensions??? We need a tutorial please! I've never seen them and had no idea you could apply them yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou know I LOOOVE a jumpsuit - and you look AMAZING in your fab denim! I love your round up pic and all of your divine bangles - you are as stunning as always, amor!
I think I'd better do my roots in anticipation of our chat later - I'd hate to scare you off with a big grey skunk stripe!
Love! Sarah xxx

LOTSOFLOVEandaKristabearhug~
No one disgraced herself? That's not very much fun! :-D
ReplyDeleteI love denim Vix. If I could I'd cover the world in it! I've enjoyed catching up on all your posts. To borrow from a song, looks like your bags are packed and your ready to go! Have a great trip and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletexo, Bonnie
Wow - you look amazing Vix!
ReplyDeleteSome vintage lovers don't do jeans/denim but when I'm feeling lazy I love it. I'm currently wearing high waisted denim shorts and they're comfy!! I have never seen a denim catsuit before, it's very cool. xx
ReplyDeleteYour blog is creative and the fashion is very cool. I wear fake eyelashes too. Hope you had a nice sunday and these are very pretty pictures. Glad I found your blog, following you now

That is one fabulous collection of great denim pieces, you wear it so well!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I ever ever come across a denim vest like that I am so buying it and sending to you!
Happiness to you V
That's my favourite: your denim vest is truly a gem! I'd say you have quite a history with that vest, definitely wear until there's no threads left. Enjoy your trip. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous cat suit!! Love the montages of last two posts! How do you do it - I need to learn.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the packing is going well and bet you can't wait.
xx
Is there another denim waistcoat that's as well travelled as yours? Probably not - unless its one of Status Quo's Francis Rossi's!
ReplyDeleteWorking outdoors I wear jeans as they're so practical, but you can't beat a classic denim number. Funnily enough, I was wondering the other day of where my 70s Levi flares have disappeared to. I haven't seen them in years (they're probably at my parents house somewhere), but I doubt whether the waist will fit me now!
Happy New Year, Vix! I love a waiscoat too - and you just have to keep mending it when it shows sign of deterioration and it will last you for EVER!
ReplyDeleteAli x
lovely catsuit!, and love the idea of adding some leather, suede or denim to make an outfit looks less dressy!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous, dear hippie-chic queen!
besos
I love that sexy denim vest! Your hair is so beautiful and takes center stage in this outfit. I wish my tresses would grow that long! =)
ReplyDeletepinkchampagnefashion.blogspot.com
Denim, it has to be like THAT - beautifully aged and faded (ideally naturally not in a company washing machine filled with stones). Love your denim influences, Vix! xo
ReplyDeleteSome people just look 'right' in denim - and you are certainly one of those people. You could saunter anywhere in this outfit and have everyone you pass thinking,"godammit, how does she make denim look so good?"
ReplyDeleteWow! You look Fabulous! I want a jumpsuit like that.
ReplyDeleteLove that denim onepiece. You always look good.Love the boots and your jewels.xx
ReplyDeleteThat denim suit is awesome! wish I would have nice slim body that I could wear something as rocking.
ReplyDeleteI love you in denim. You look very laidback, but still super stylish. That catsuit is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI adore those boots and I do love your denim waistcoat xx
ReplyDeleteI want to get a denim waistcoat this summer. xx
Love love love the denim; you are rockin it!
ReplyDeleteI love the vest that's traveled with you to exotic places. Maybe before it falls apart you could trace the pattern and resew with some distressed denim?
ReplyDeleteI live in Tucson, Arizona, in the U.S......have no interest in fashion... yet I LOVE your blog. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading it daily.
