Here's Friday's frock, a gold lurex number I found at a car boot sale complete with flesh-coloured slip for modesty. The dealer thought it may have originally been a hippy chick's wedding dress but sadly the original owner was no longer around to tell the tale. I had planned to wear it to Glasto but it's always been either too hot or too wet for wool so rather than let it hang unloved in my wardrobe I wore it to run some errands in town earlier.
It certainly enjoyed it's mundane outing, elderly ladies stroked it and admired the artistry and a sprightly pensioner cheekily asked me to join him for a coffee.
Favourite thing on a Friday? This solid copper Native American pendant one of my late mum's suitors bought back from the States in the early 1960s. Little did she know her first born would be a Sagittarian with turquoise as her birthstone.
What else am I loving on a Friday? The fab post the gorgeous Strawberry Freckleface honoured me with yesterday. What a thrill. Thanks to my new followers, I'll be checking you guys out over the weekend.
That copper cuff on the left was another gift from the same admirer. The tortoiseshell Lucite ring was a gift from Dee and the brass bangle with blue flowers was from Sandy. The nail polish is, as always, Barry M.
These discrete earrings were 25p from a car boot sale.
Remembrance day poppy sold in aid of the British Legion.
Crochet maxi (£5, car boot sale) worn with embroidered denim waistcoat (previously worn inside out here) , Hand-dyed leather bag, Tods' python boots (£7, car boot sale) |

super frock and those sleeves are lovely (and dangerous)
ReplyDeleteIt's no surprise you look gorgeous even when running errands!
ReplyDeleteLove the gold lurex in the close up... crochet as a wedding dress was one of the ideas I tried to put together when I got married 18 years ago... cream crochet midi, with red suede boots.... never did find The Dress, sent the boots back as too baggy, and the marriage didn't make it past a year!
ReplyDeleteHow fab your mum had jewellery from an old boyfriend - though we wouldn't have you if she'd married him instead of your dad... Love all the rings you wear, but loving the black chunky rectangular one today.
Have a great weekend x
ps ....and how good sights of you around town must be for the libido of the o.a.p. population! ;)x
ReplyDeleteThe sleeves on that dress are fantastic, and who'd thunk that was the same fur waistcoat?
ReplyDeleteSo you pulled another pensioner when you weren't even wearing a hat?

ReplyDeleteThat dress is a masterpiece, Vix, and you are just the woman to wear it! LOOK at those beautiful sleeves! Small wonder you were being complimented, fondled and asked out on your way round town!
ReplyDeleteAnd all those spectacular jewels too. Love the story about your mum's admirer - wonder what happened to him? Perhaps he never got over your ma and pined away? If he's still around, he'd probably be another old fella asking you for coffee!
Enjoy the pub and your weekend. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sometimes I wish I could crochet just so I could make a crocheted frock. It's beautiful and very becoming, frisky old dear asking you to coffee lol. Have an excellent weekend lovely lady. Xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful wedding dress that would have made and it looks beautiful on you! It is a similar shape to my nans wedding dress, I wish she had kept hers and the massive floppy hat and platforms she rocked on her special day!
