As promised here's a few snippets of the treasure we picked up over the weekend at various jumble sales.
I love finding bed linen. Our house gets so cold in the winter and the more blankets and bed covers we have the better.
This 1950's tapestry wool blanket was made inKent Dorset. Just the job for keeping us warm last night, it was freezing
Arts and Crafts period bellows, unusual to find a pair with the leather intact and perfect for getting the fire going now the weather's on the turn.
Cute English-made retro enamel scales.
Just looking at this glorious 1960s Worcester-Ware tray makes me happy.
Foreign-made "Alcohol and Liquor" tray.
A dapper old gent was rather jealous of this haul of 1960s Tootal scarves and cravats but Jon refused to give in, more for his huge collection of Mod neck wear.
Funky fake fur platforms from M&S's Autograph collection.
1970s crepe and sequin trimmed halterneck top by Suzie Q
Squared wood bangle (like I need another wrist adornment).
Canvas and leather holdall from one of our town's renowned leather companies.
Label from a fabulous 1950s wool coat.
Label from a groovy 1960s dress
Braiding detail from a North African cotton kaftan
I love this 1950s towelling wrap
Such a cheery yacht print.
Beading detail from a 1980s Hunza body-con mini dress. Maybe I should be Madonna for Halloween?
See you soon.

Wow you cleaned up at the jumble - what a score! I love the blanket, amazing find and the scales are fabulous too, as are all your bits! I would love to see you dressed as madge for halloween :o))
ReplyDeleteScarlett x
Goodness gracious you're braver than I to think of madge-wear in your forties. But then your much more svelte than me. I'm more of a blankie and slippers girl myself these days.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Luv the bed linens!! Old linens are made so much better!! My husband and I were flea marketing this weekend and found an old Rotisserie, great for our camper. Have a great day....and a great glass of wine!
ReplyDeleteaaww that is really funny that you have bought some blankets because that is just what i am after at the moment. Its hard to know where to find them. I took my duvet off last month as its a feather one its so warm. I am using my vintage sheets and candlewick bedspread and i love the light feel of them. With a crochet blanket on top but i just need that extra layer of a double blanket seeing yours i am heading out next week in half term infact im going on a mission to find some ;-)) You have some lovely buys those scales i have them same ones and i would be lost without them as i still use Ounces while baking. Loving the tray ;-)) Enjoy your week, dee xx
ReplyDeleteThat 60s does art deco tray is beyond awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can not resist bedding and blankets, our house also gets very cold so they are essential. They also go nicely in the camper van too xxx

GREAT. FINDS. I'm particularly jealous of the clothes. And goodness gracious, your bedframes are go-o-o-orgeous! The curved red one is killing me. Excellent style, as always.
ReplyDeleteBlimey you did have great haul! Lucky you. Those blankets look cosy, it's been freezing the past few nights.
ReplyDeleteLoving both the shoes and the top, looking forward to seeing the rest of your items being worn.
X x
Love the blanket. Looks so cosy. So jealous of your house every time you show pics! Absolutely love it. xx
ReplyDeleteYou really did get some great bargins. Love the bed cover on the top picture, we have something similar to that really heavy and warm and cosy on a winter's night.
ReplyDeleteThe bellows were a great find. My in laws a fair few years ago got in a bidding war for a pair for my BIL's birthday. And I think they paid a pretty penny for them too.
Love that bag too a real bargin. And love the ties and cravats too. No wonder that old man was peeved! lol.

Wow - amazing haul. I adore that 1950s towelling robe, so wonderfully evocative of that era. I'm also tres jealous of those scales and the gorgeous wool blankets - very useful at the moment with these chilly nights.
ReplyDeleteOooh Madonna of the Blonde Ambition era..pointy bra and pony tale...I can see you now! You'd be fab.
ReplyDeleteI love the finds especially the tray and that towelling wrap. XXX
oooh love both those beds I can't decide which is my favourite because they are both utterly beautiful .
ReplyDeleteLovely vintage finds too
xx fee
Dearest Vix,
ReplyDeleteWOW, another grand old hoard there!
I love the blanket & the Suzy Q frock. I've got a few 'HUNZA' garments myself & I love them cause they are so spectacularly 80s & so splendidly trashy. The braided caftan looks fab, I'd love to see it modelled pretty please ;)
Lot's of love,
Jennie
xXx
loving those old scales good find!
ReplyDeleteI adore those 1980s bejewelled boobies- a Madonna look is a MUST this Halloween!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that blanket was made in Kent. It looks like a
ReplyDeleteWelsh blanket the pattern is that of the Welsh mills. I have several, they are very warm on top of beds!

Holy wow....you did awesome!! Love those fab furry shoes!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
Statements In Fashion: A Funky Little Fashion Blog
Yet again I'm stunned at your amazing finds - its ALL GORGEOUS! I can't say no to old scales and trays either. Jon had better keep hold of those paisley scarfs - they'd make an excellent patchwork curtain, seeing them displayed in your photo. xx
ReplyDeleteGreat scores! I love the robe.
ReplyDeleteI can just FEEL the cold over there! Brrrr you poor things!
x
Madonna sprung to mind as soon as I saw that 1980's body-con dress! Madonna would be great for Halloween! Styled a la Romy & Michele's High School Reunion when they're both dressed like Madonna for their high school prom! Love that movie!
ReplyDeleteI adore the Worcester-Ware tray - it's so very art nouveau and beautiful!
The Suzie Q top is marvellous, I love a bit of black sequin detail! xxx
Your home is every bit as impressive as your wardrobe!
ReplyDeletefantastic beds! I can't decide which is better, I do love me some red velvet! Love the amazing linens you found!
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhhhh how I love all your finds, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteit is cooling down here at night. Now we are about 18ºc, but still 30ºc in the day. No rain on sight.
No secondhand bargains around here I have to go to Málaga for my nearest flea market.
Besossssssssss
Wow what a haul. I'd love to say what my favourite piece is, but I can't pick. I did have a chuckle at the thought of John getting mugged by an OAP for his cravatte collection. You can never have enough blankets, this is a very cold house too, it's these old houses. Xx
ReplyDeleteMy Gosh what a fabulous haul of vintage deliciousness.
ReplyDeleteI love your bedding & BEDS for that matter. When I move to a new place I really want to find Mr. and I a nice vintage or antique bed frame.
That enamel scale is lovely it adds a nice vintage feel.
Make sure that crepe & sequin dress doesn't cut up your armpit area.. (Like what happened with me and my devil-ish sequin tank) hehe
The label for that dress is intense! GOD I LOVE IT (And its just a bloody label) lol
The toweling wrap is great love the colors and graphics
More fabulous finds... just what you need to keep the spirits high as winter draws close!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant set of photographs, I've been poring over them for ages.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage blankets, the quality is invariably second to none.
Poor Madonna, she really has lost credibility. I liked her Like a Virgin image and Like a Prayer.
I hate commenting on this phone, but I'd like to wax lyrical about your finds for longer!
Lucy x
I adore the blanket and the halterneck; but I especially love that 1980s top!!!! jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteyou always come up trumps vix!!
jules
Brilliant booty! You will look fab in the body-con dress. I scored a gorge pair of leather boots in the charity shop a couple of days ago. Brand new, knee-high brown leather corkers for £3.99. I still haven't stopped grinning and have them in the corner of my bedroom so I can adore them while I'm reading in bed! Em x
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Madonna might want to dress up like YOU for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThe coverlets are great...the trays fascinating, and OF COURSE you can always use another bangle!
Fabulous finds :) x
ReplyDeleteVix those fake fur platforms are so sexy but paired with your green tights they are over the moon fabulous! I also love your Madonnaesque top and imagine you would look way better than Madonna ever did.
ReplyDeleteI love your fireplace and hope you are keeping warm my dear. I put Walsall into my favorite spots so I can check out the weather at your place. Just for the record, it was warmer at your place this morning than mine, but by days end the sun is out here and we are pushing 70 :)
Loving Jons scarfs and the amazing toweling affair! I really love it when you share your collections!
ReplyDeleteYou would look great as madonna!
ReplyDeleteSo many goodies, need to move to wasall.
I love your beds so much, the tray, zebra shoes with green tights.
the black halter neck looks gorgeous on you amor.
Good on jon for not giving in, those scarfs are so cool.
I couls see him smoking while wearing a hugh hefner robe.
Luv ya
Those shoes are gorgeous! I love the blankets too. You'll look great in that halter!
ReplyDeleteLots of fab things Vix. I love the zebra shoes.
ReplyDeleteDx
what gorgeous treasures.........love your beds too, just want to stay in mine under the covers right now!!x
ReplyDeleteCrikey - girl (and boy!) done (very) well! I love everything you've found that I don't know where to start! The yellow wrap gets a thumbs up from me, as does the sequinned halter neck and the blankets. But my favourite has to be that Alphonse Mucha style Worcester Ware tray. The colours are wonderful.
ReplyDeletexxx
Another haul of vintage awesome-ness! You should totally go as Madonna this Halloween. Also I love your house and all the new bits and pieces you bought for it - looks so great.
ReplyDeleteI just cant get over how much nice stuff you find. Bristol is rubbish for good bargains as everyone here loves vintage and so shops pump up the prices.
ReplyDeleteLove that wool throw xxxx
Hi my dear-ooh such gorgeous finds, I adore the bed linen and throws and of course the 80s hunza dress is fabulous!! Well done on your lovely gems! xxx
ReplyDeleteA fantastic treasure trove, as always.
ReplyDeleteFavourites? Hmmm, that's tricky.
Blankets, scales, groovy orange tray, shoes, sequin halterneck, pearl-encrusted bosoms... No, I can't decide, it's all too fabulous!
Hope you are keeping warm, I've just about lost the feeling in my hands on the walk to school this morning, need to unearth my gloves! xxxxx
Looks like Jon wasn't home today? Nice finds, if you see any more cheap enamel ware grab it and I'll buy it from you, we can't keep up with it at the moment and are having trouble finding it. Thanks again for the parcel, will show it off soon.xx.

Gorgeous! Looks like you've got plenty of blankets to snuggle up with this winter - these photos make your house look so cosy!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing all your haul I can't wait until The Boyfriend & I have our own place again, so that I can go thrifting for homewares. I think you certainly should go as Madge for Halloween - you could totally pull it off!
