On A Bender

What a shocker! I nearly had heart failure when I found this vintage Lee Bender kimono blouse in a charity shop earlier this year, blogged about it, stuck it in the washing machine and then promptly forgot it's existence. I've obviously got far too many clothes, but that's not going to stop me going to the monthly jumble sale tomorrow or the Thursday morning car boot sale either....tsk tsk, it's almost an addiction.

Despite the adverse weather conditions over the weekend my (ethically-sourced) hair feathers are bearing up well. As a self-confessed hair feather hater I was honoured to get a mention on the fabulous Wendy B's blog yesterday who said I (along with Janis Joplin) was the exception to the trend.

Lee Bender blouse (£2, Cancer Research) worn with vintage velvet hot pants (70p, car boot sale), velvet tote (25p, jumble sale), suede lace-up go go boots (£1, car boot sale) and stacks of second-hand brass jewellery.
I've just about caught up on my sleep, washed every mud-soaked garment I took to Glasto and feel ready to face the booze again. Well, it is The Apprentice tonight and a cheeky glass of something is obligatory on a Wednesday evening.

  17. That is an amazing kimono top. I'm kind of with that lovely blog with the feathers, they suit you because you live a bohemian style life everyday - rather than just dressing up to go to a music festival. Rather like Janis. Just stick the wine and nothing harder m'kay ;)

(and I'm pleased to see the feathers are veggie friendly too)

  18. Fancy discovering that fab top TWICE - but yes, there's no harm in a jumble sale and a car boot this week ;)
You have a very good tolerance/recovery level re booze, being able to face some so soon after Glasto!
Not watching The Apprentice - going to watch bbc4 at 9 Hotel Deluxe. It hints that it will feature Blakes - the rock star hangout. Hope there'll be footage... xx

  30. Sexy-licious in those hotpants, lady! My oh my!

That bag totally 'makes' the outfit for me, I love an unusual bag and that one is retro, gorgeous and practical rolled into one!

  31. A very striking top, flattering without being revealing. Wednesday is the only evening I like watching TV, The Apprentice, and The Scheme (fly on the wall documentary on a Scottish housing estate). Glad your feathers aren't part of this rather laughable drama which made me smile today http://goo.gl/qefRC

  37. stunning blouse! Looks wonderful with the shorts. I know that feeling well - when rifling through the wardrobe and you find some amazing thing you forgot you had and you sheepishly realise that you are either going senile or you have simply have too. much. clothing.

  47. Dear Vix,
I loved your Glasto post, you & Jon both look decidedly radiant & you even manage to shine through the rain too!
I love this outfit and I just realized that it's another one that you managed to put together for under a fiver, you marvel. I would love to see a post where you bring together some of your under £5 outfits, that would be a lot of fun & a real eyeopener to those who are still unconvinced about buying & dressing in vintage & second hand. It would be a very FABULOUS post I have no doubt!
    Take care my love,

  48. Yet another fabulous find. I have to say, I've been wondering how you manage to store all the amazing gems that keep being added in to your wardrobe. I've reached the point where I actually cannot squeeze in another coat hanger. I loved your account of Glastonbury too - you exude joie de vivre!

  49. That top is gorgeous! I would say that I can't believe you forgot about it, but then you have so many gorgeous pieces of clothing. I'm also in love with that bag!

  50. Oh no, late to read and comment AGAIN!
Looking stunning as ever Vix, that blouse is a beauty, and it's always a joy to see those excellent pins, my dear!

Addiction? Yeah, why not! It's all within your limits money-wise, you sell stuff on, give things away, it's all charity shopped/second hand so very ecologically sound and helps charities - sounds positively healthy to me.
And think of the pleasure you get from your addiction, and the pleasure you give us!

  51. Oh I am SO in love with you in this fabulous FABULOUS outfit! The top is SPECTACULAR and the shorts/boots/bag are exquisite. I'm so glad you have more festivals coming up - you know I live vicariously through you!
