On The Lash

I was out on town last night so excuse the puffy eyes and dodgy complexion.

It's far too cold here to even consider a car boot sale so I thought I'd experiment with some of my newly acquired vintage lashes this morning.

What do you think?  It's the first time I've tried under eye lashes and I love them. The top set are real hair ones by Miners.

I almost always wear false lashes, they're easy to apply and after well over twenty five years of sweaty clubs, rain-sodden festivals and boozy bar crawls I've yet to have one drop in my pint.
Before applying them remember to trim the length of each strip to fit your eye (to avoid the drag queen look) and allow around twenty seconds for the glue to go tacky then apply eyeliner over the lashes to hide any traces of excess glue. Hey ho, instant retro glam.

I bought some lashes from Poundland to wear to last year's Green Man Festival.

I kept them on for the entire five days of the festival without them budging.

Vintage maxi dress (20p Scout jumble sale), Silver velvet platforms (£9 Office)
Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Come and visit me tomorrow if you can, I went to a brilliant jumble sale on Friday afternoon and can't wait to share my fantastic vintage buys.

  12. I have a minor obession with false lashes - would wear them every day if I felt I could get away with it! I tend to pick up cheapy cheap ones from market stalls then use Duo to attach them (the glue that comes with is never very good!). Yours look great and I'm impressed you lasted 5 days with them on...did that include removing make up? xx

  13. There is a definite art to falsies and I have yet to master it myself. However, recently, a GORGEOUS blog friend sent me some amazing false lashes and I am now inspired to give them a go!

I have not had great success previously but I think that's because I need someone to show me how to apply them properly - any chance of a video tutorial Vix??

You look AMAZING with the upper and lower lashes - I agree with Miss Claire - VERY Twiggy! I love your fabulous high hair today too!

Yay! One more sleep! Sarah xxx

  16. I love those lashes!! Big lashes always look amazing, I would wear them every day if I could. I have had lashes expertly applied a couple at a time in a salon and had the poundland clag on ones and the poundland ones lasted longer than the expensive ones! Your eyes look fab!

  22. The under eyes faux lashes is so you! Looks fab. I've tried faux lashes few times but haven't gotten them just right to the point that I can trust them not to be all over the place in the end of the night.

  23. I used to wear fake lashes all the time- O loved the OTT glittery ones for clubbing and so forth. I still wear them now and then, you've reminded me I have a couple of pairs - I might well crack them out next time I'm off on a jaunt!

As for the hangover- you don't have a hangover face. I have a hangover face so shameful I cannot post it or it might scare people! Pimms (and cider, and beer) last night! Oops.

You are a tease, holding back the jumble sale goodies. I went to a jumble, a car boot and a street market, but I bet I didn't find anything as fab as you. Looking forward to the Big Reveal!! Glad you had a good weekend x

  41. Love them! I must do it more myself. I used to do it lots I'm a dab hand at applying them, so don't know why I haven't for ages.

Also I should have said you and Sharon Rose (MyStyle) are probably the exception to camis! xx

  42. Lovely!! I love a big spidery eyelash, me. I've just watched a great Biba makeup tutorial, and it's given me a taste for falsies. I've only worn them once for Halloween, but your '5 day' story has inspired me! xx

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love the look of bottom lash falsies! It gives a really cool doll like appearance! I will actually be doing a dolly makeup post soon!

I use DUO lash adhesive in dark, it dries down to a black colour so there is no risk of anyone seeing the glue!

Can't wait to see what things you got at the jumble sale! xxx

  44. You are lookin Fabulous with those lashes. I think I have only applied false lashes once on a Halloween. I HAVE BEEN meaning to buy some for over a year and give it a try for fun.. but I have never gotten around to it. After seeing how awsome they look on you, I think I will give it a try in the near future. *Hopefully* lol

  46. They do look fab I have to say, despite my squeamishness about the real hair idea! I have worn them for nights out, but must be either a) very sweaty or b) not using strong enough glue cos I'm certain they'd not last 5 days! I won a pair last year actually - very random prize - designed by Nicola from Girls Aloud. Will have to dig them out for the school run ;-)

  55. I can't believe they are real hair! They are very Twiggy - I love the effect of falsies - so glamorous! But I am rubbish at putting them on. They almost always end up half falling off so I am really impressed you managed to get some to stay on for 5 days!

    ReplyDelete
  56. They look amazing, Vix! I wore fake eyelashes once in my life - and loved it. I'm never sure about how to apply them. So you put eye make-up on afterwards, it seems.

  63. They look fab! I am rubbish at fake eyelashes, I once had semi perm ones done which still didn't last long, sadly I'm a klutz!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm yet to try false lashes, I'm sure i'd end up doing something daft like gluing my eye shut or something!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I've never used false eyelashes, and became even more iffy about using them after one of my friends got a pretty serious eye infection from the glue for a pair she used! Admittedly, they were a very cheap & nasty pair though, and that probably had something to do with the infection.

These ones look fabbo though! I can't believe that you managed to keep a pair on for five festival days - those things must be indestructible!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ohh - Twiggytastic! I love it.

I used to wear falsies every weekend back in my 90s clubbing days, but I haven't worn them for years. Time to give them another go methinks *heads off to Poundland...*

  67. I gasped with pleasure at your eye lash delights - you've given me the boot up the arse that I need to give them a go. They look sooo amazing with the green eyeshadow and I love the bottom lashes - it all looks so professionally done!!! Hehe - love that you haven't lost one in your pint to date and I am so frickin' impressed that you wore a pair for five days straight! Really, you are the festival queen!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxo

  68. I swear, you never make a fashion 'don't', you know where they place a black bar over your eyes to hide your identity? Well, who would hide those eyes? Amazing. The dress is fab as usual.

  69. Hi Vix! Oh it's nice to be back and read everyone's posts! I've missed your retro vintage glam! You look fabulous in those lashes, as usual! I have never worn false lashes, I guess I'm just afraid of them, haha! My eyes are really sensitive so I try and not wear mascara too often because they don't like that either! Thye would get all red and itchy and all. But I always admire girls who can just pop them on like you described it there! :)
