1960's paisley mini dress (courtesy of gorgeous Desiree), vintage pendant (courtesy of the equally fab Ivy Black) |
We'd only just managed to get round the car boot field this morning before the heavens opened. It wasn't a particularly awe-inspiring visit today, it was very quiet and distinctly chilly but I managed to unearth a few treasures to tide me over until tomorrow's jumble sale.
Three boxes of vintage false eyelashes including an under eye pair, something I've often seen in 1960's magazines and longed to try out. 50p for all three packs. The Miners pair are called "Flighty", how fab is that?
1967 pressing of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Axis: As Bold As Love. £3. The gate fold sleeve is magnificent, both inside and out. India and Jimi? The perfect combination.
Phwoar, what a truly beautiful man.
I've got far too many of these Little Forks but at 50p couldn't resist another box.
I think I've got a minor obsession with retro hairdryers. This Ronson Escort is in perfect working order and deliciously kitsch.
Here's Twiggy demonstrating it. The cost? £1.50
This Urban Outfitters snake print turban still bearing the ludicrously overpriced £22 price tag was a more realistic £1. Perfect for a bad hair day.
This English-made 1960's brown suede bomber jacket was £1 and the vintage sunglasses (yes, another pair) were 10p
Check out the groovy label.
Find of the day is this glamorous marabou-trimmed telephone with an iridescent dial, it works perfectly and is already taking pride of place next to the bed.
When the seller told me it was £1.50 I nearly fainted with excitement.
Have a lovely evening.
oh i so wish there was a thurs bootsale here! What amazing finds, i keep seeing those little forks on peoples blogs, so got to get me a box of them! The phone is fabulous and a complete steal and as a false eyelash nut i'd have wrestled you for those! Mwah Scarlett x
ReplyDeleteVix, only you could find a marabou trimmed vintage phone. It's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHow are you enjoying Wolf Hall? I keep meaning to get it out of the library but I'm hearing very mixed opinions on it.
I love love LOVE that telephone - how totally fabulous. £1.50????? Am so jealous I'm turning green!!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best legs to carry off such mini dresses ;) Great finds as usual ... On side note if any crazy Hindi fanatic saw that Jimi Hendrix Experience ... would probably go Al Qaeda on your blog! :P

Phwoar indeed! Love Jimi. Axis is my favourite cd of the moment - I'm stuck in some sort of 60s timewarp!
ReplyDeleteI've seen those fabulous forks on the Vintage Knitter's blog and drooled over them then. Annoying thing is I saw them, not long ago, in local Oxfam and I didn't buy them (grrrrr).
The telephone is bonkers but fabulous at the same time.
Your telephone is probably how Scarlett's flamingos conducted their long distance romance ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the lashes, though a bit perturbed at the enthusiastic 'Real Hair!' branding. Ooh ooh and the hairdryer too. Am trying and failing to avoid inserting 'Fork Yeah!' into this comment as well.
x
PS. Agree on Jimi
The bomber.. the vinyl..
ReplyDeleteThe phone--
How do you do it? Are you magic?
Love the dress, it looks really gorgeous on you! Great bargains as always, the phone is great fun!
ReplyDeleteThought of you today in poundland! Wanted to tell you what you probably already know but the Derma V10 you use from there is also made in the UK and not tested on animals! How easy is that!!
Even more fabulous bargains...well done....and even more so for getting soaked, I got soaked on my walk, I even pleaded with the girls if I could squeeze into their double buggy, but to no avail.(theres one photo of my Beetle on flickr btw, but I actually have two, altho one is sorn off road at the mo...am greedy!)
ReplyDeleteBlimey! That was a blast from the past. My mum had those little forks and the hairdryer. I can remember her sitting under that cap before a night out. xxx
ReplyDeleteO Vix that post made me smile. My Mam had a very similar hairdryer to that and I remember using it when I was younger to set the velcros for big hair! It had a funny smell when it was on too! My mam also has some very similar little forks which she doesn`t use but keeps in her dresser.

ReplyDeleteThat phone absolutely had your name on it. And I'm another one who's mum had that sort of hairdryer - what a palaver it looks now.
And another ditto from me about Jimi. He was a beaut.

ReplyDeleteYou've got some great bargains especially the turban but that phone is fabulous! xx
ReplyDeleteA hairy phone, how fab!! Does it tickle your ears when you use it??
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to start going futher afield for bootsales. I went to two on Sunday, all just piles of worn out Primark, old broken plates, bits of car parts, I would have been ashmed to sell any of it, I have taken better to the tip! The people of Manchester are not good at carboots is all I can say.
marabou trimmed phone! I thought I was a woman of the world but I've seen it all now.

ReplyDeleteI have a few of those little forks, they are charming!
I came across one of those hair dryers once sadly it had a tear in it. Yours looks FaBuLoUs!
That turban is great and the price you got it for is a steal!
The Poppy in the background reminded me I must go outside and do some planting today. I have a bag of mixed seeds that has Poppies in it and I just love them.
The telephone is divine as long as it doesn't tickle your ears! ;)
The best is that dress you have on! Lookin fierce Vix!
Ha ha ha, I love that phone - it is immense!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that bomber jacket, totally fab. Once again you are a bargain hunting champion, an inspiration to us rummagers everywhere!
ReplyDeleteThose Little Forks must have been very popular! And I love that 'Mastacut' label too; wouldn't a patchwork cushion made solely out of those vintage labels look so cool?
ReplyDeleteThat phone is fantastic Vix, Love it! My mom has lots of those little forks too. Have a lovely evening xxx
ReplyDeleteOh my, you look as delicious as ever today! How I wish I had your pins, I can't do short dresses without frightening the kids...
ReplyDeleteI am very much hoping you will treat us to a photo when you try the eyelashes! Does anyone out there use falsies (so to speak?) I'm longing to try but fear an embarrassing is-that-a-caterpillar-in-my-pint moment.
Fab finds as ever, Vix!
Love Curtise x

You really do find some amazing stuff for even more amazing prices! It's rubbish round here really, finds are few and far between :o(
ReplyDeleteVix that phone is amazing! I have a similar style in a delicious pea green (minus the fab marabou trim sadly!) which I rescued from my dad's shed! Then Adrian and I saw a similar one in a vintage shop for £35!!!
ReplyDeleteThe record is awesome too-Adrian is such a record junkie and always finds wonderful ones. I love the cover art and we have them on show around our home; one of my lasting childhood memories is looking at all the wonderful pictures on my daddys record collection so it makes sense to keep building our own!
The eyelashes are amazing too-and the jacket-and what a find! I wish I lived near you; we're only recently moved to Bristol and I am still trying to suss out the local jumble sales and carboots, you always get some fantastic pieces!
Much love hun xxxxx
Oh ps I invested in some lush shampoo/conditioner bars, which I am loving!! They smell soooo good and feel a lot less full of plastic than the liquid stuff! Adrian has a really sensitive scalp so I am hoping they'll be better for him and easier on my pocket too! Winner!
xxxxx
Does it look like you've got a beard when you answer the phone?! Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou always look so good! Iove that shirt and your dress!

ReplyDeleteCan we have a photo of you wearing the false eyelashes? I've got some but never dared wear them in case of an embarrassing is-that-a-caterpillar-in-your-pint moment... Advice from experienced falsie wearers would be great!
Hope you are having a good weekend,
Love Curtise x
Those wee forks are super cute! I've never seen or heard of those before. Hope you're having a good weekend. It's freezing and windy in Glasgow so I'm on the sofa with the central heating on and a glass of red in hand looking forward to Britain's Got Talent - exciting, huh? But I'm happy! xx
ReplyDeleteYou really suit those citrus colours Vix, I'm so glad that frock has a good home:))). I'm swooning at the hairdryer - my cousins had one and I always wanted to get my hands on it when I was a kid and now you found a perfect one for a quid?!!!!
