I'm Honoured!

I'm bare-legged! It's quite mild today and as my face looks so bad this week I'm employing my age-old tactic of revealing so much leg than nobody notices my zits.My eye make-up's looking a bit the worse for wear as my lovely friend Christina had me tittering away with laughter (as usual) during our phone conversation earlier.

Thank you so much, I was overwhelmed with your wonderful comments yesterday and the lovely Lottie even gave me a mention on her blog.

and the Versatile blog Award by VildesVerden and VainGlorySinner.

Gifts, awards, lovely comments....I'll be getting a massive head soon and it'll be too big for my festival headpiece AND it's only four months till Glastonbury.

I'm supposed to share seven facts about myself with you but what don't you know already?

1. I have more jewellery than anyone else I know and I can't resist buying more as I absolutely love it. Obviously it's all second-hand or haggled over in flea markets.

2. I love reading especially books set in India, historical books and gory thrillers and can't abide slushy romance, chick lits or most sci-fi. I'm currently reading Twilight, courtesy of the lovely Amy.

3. I'm double jointed and can bend my arms around the wrong way which makes most people feel sick...so I do it all the more. I'm so evil.

4. I had my eyes tested on Friday and need reading glasses so now the hunt is on for some groovy vintage babies. Maybe I should get prescription lenses added to a pair of my sunglasses. The specs in the shops all look the same.

5. My header features Bollywood legend and Burlesque queen , Helen, not me! Thanks to those who think we are alike, this old girl's very flattered. She is my absolute idol. I blogged all about her here, back in the summer.

6. Although I love them, I cannot eat off a patterned plate, puts me right off my dinner. Darling Helga's promised to serve my food on plain crockery when I finally manage to visit.

7. I've a teaching certificate in Self-defence which I took after being molested by a perv back in 1991. Whether I'd remember how to defend myself if it ever happened again is another matter.

Any excuse to show off my velvet platform boots.

Wearing: 1960's pussybow blouse and 1980's West German-made shorts (Both jumble sale buys)

I'm passing the awards on to anyone and everyone I follow, you are all very special to me.

  6. I'll have to file away your age-old tactic of revealing so much leg than nobody notices your zits! SOOOOOOO funny.

It was interesting to see what you like to read...and your bookshelf looks like many of ours--full to overflowing!

I really think you should write a book. The 7 things about yourself are SO much more interesting than ANYthing I could think to post! (And I think you have 777 things you could write about!)

Love the outfit and the boots!! Congrats on your well deserved awards too. The festival picture is beautiful! Love the sunglass collection - you need some jazzy glasses, it wouldn't be right otherwise would it?

I only have plain white plates so when you come to stay there's nothing patterned. We're going to take you to Elaine's the restaurant I keep blogging about, my treat. We must put a date in soon. Love C xx

  29. First off I love those platform boots!
OMG! At all your jewellery I have been slowly starting a collection. Hopefully after a couple years of garage sale seasons.. I will have a collection a little like yours. lol
I have a eye appointement coming up soon and will have to be getting new glasses. It's so damn hard to choose what to get! Right now I am thinking of some rectangle shaped Tortishelle frames with little rhinestone details on the sides.. but I have a few more places to check out.

The eating off a patterned plate really made me laugh. For some reason I like eating off them more than the plain ones. LOL

  30. Oh, am I sick to be pleased that you need specs; I bet you just have the best specs ever?
Great factiods, sorry to hear you were got at by a perv, it's a mad world out there. I got a bit wobbly when I saw your backwards arm.

  33. Oh My Gosh the arm the arm *covers eyes and cringes*. Made me giggle abotu the plate - I can't eat off patterned plates either, or drink out of patterned cups, makes me want to throw up, and yet, like you I love them. I think I just don't like using old stuff to eat with. I also can't use that old silver cutlery - hurl!

  34. Awh, Vix! I was sure you'd already done the Stylish Blogger Seven, or I'd have tagged you, too. Well, thank goodness the other ladies did, so I get to read more fun facts!

I still adore your jewelry display and photo of it, and the plates with dark roses, and the info about Helen. I had wondered about your blog header.

I wonder if you'd liuke River of Gods by Ian McDonald. It's one of few fiction/science fiction works to feature a futuristic India.

Per Wikipedia: "The sprawling novel follows a number of different characters' viewpoint around August 15, 2047, the centenary of India's partition and independence from colonial Raj. This alternate India has become balkanized into smaller states like Awadh, Bharat and Bangla. The global information network is now inhabited by Artificial Intelligences, called aeais in the novel, of varying levels of intelligence.

Aeais higher than 2.5 (able to pass the Turing test) are banned, and their excommunication (destruction) is the responsibility of people like Mr. Nandha, a Krishna Cop..."

  35. I'd love your legs! Lovely to know morte about you as always. Glad you're enjoying the book. I'm onto the third so I'll be sending that your way as soon as I'm finished. I haven't got the second or 4th as I've borrowed those from my cousin x

  40. Hi Vix, I love reading your blog and seeing all your fabulous outfits ! Where do you keep all your clothes ? You must have several wardrobes full !
    love Lori x

  41. Have you tried Stuart MacBride (Scottish police novels)? He's a recent discovery of mine - they're really good but quite gruesome!

Ooh, can't wait to see what kind of glasses you end up with. Definitely get some lenses put in vintage frames - the frame choice out there is rubbish unless you want to spend a fortune.

  42. You have amazing style!!!!

  47. love the boots, but think you're v brave to bare leg, it's only feb and wasn't that warm here!
i am being pestered to read twilight by my sisters and my whole guide unit, i must get round to them just to see if i can understand what all the fuss is about!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Your bookshelf looks a lot like mine and I had wondered whether that was you in your header!

Re: glasses: have you had a look on Glasses Direct? I got some Dierdre Barlow-esque specs from there when they had an offer on that I'd seen on MSE, they had quite a lot of retro frames. Oh this has reminded me of the enormous glass contact lenses I saw on the Antiques Roadshow a week or two ago, you might be able to find it on iPlayer, makes me shudder just thinking of them!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have double jointed elbows but they don't do that!! (They rotate too far around rather disturbingly). Great shorts and boots combo and the blouse is fabulous! And love the Glasto head piece too.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ooh Vix, I AM very distracted by your amazing legs! You look beautiful to me and whoa, nobody looks better in shorts than you! I also don't like patterned plates to eat from! So glad to hear I'm not alone in that little quirk.

  51. Ha, you'll need a double-sized headband soon, Vix (nah, just kidding, I know you're totally beyond these egotrips). Loved all the little revelations, and have to admit: the double-jointedness freaks me out! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  52. hehe... always wondered whether you got the award or not:) but you have a lot to receive and everyone to give. way to go! liking those shorts btw..:)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ah, another one of my favourite of Vix's outfits <3<3

Twilight is brillant isn't it? The movies and tween obsession ruined it though.

I think the round brown-ish glasses would look amazing as reading glasses. I actually really want glasses but sadly my eyesight is fine :( hahah

  54. Those boots and your pegs are terrific. You deserve those awards, you're a great lady who always has a kind word for everyone that you come across. I wish that there were people like you in the world. If you like Twilight than you'll adore the Sookie Stackhouse novels. The first one is called Dead until Dark and it's leaps and bounds above Twilight. You will not be disappointed.

  55. Phew I had a lot of catching up to do! I missed 3(!) of your posts so I just reread them and there's so much I want to say!! :)
Firstly, thank you for my happy birthday wish :)
Secondly, this outfit is amazing! Again, I'm rethinking pussybow neckline because I always thought it made me look silly but everyone that i've seen wearing it in the blogspehere was just phenomenal! And those shorts go so well with it!!
Thridly, blogging is amazing!! Seriously, what do people do if they dont blog?! (Haha, i guess they go to work and have lives or something :P :D) but I just can't imagine my life without it!!
And lastly, i'm so totally bookmarking your ebay rules!! :)

  60. Can't beleve it was warm enough for shorts. It's been bloody freezin up here.
Fantastic facts Vix. What an awful reason to take up self defence but well done on getting the teaching certificate. Love unusual facts like that you can't eat off a patterned plate! x
