I've always loved leopard print but this season it's become so commonplace I've had to relegate my beloved vintage Astraka coat to the back of the wardrobe in fear of looking like a fashion victim.
My darling 1960's leopard coat (£3 from a church Bring and Buy.)
Rather than abandon the luscious leopard altogether I've introduced a bit of big cat into my outfits in other ways.

These tights were from Claire's Accessories. I'd gone in for some hairgrips and spotted these crazy beasts on sale for less than £2. Just the thing for introducing a bit of drama into an otherwise drab outfit.
All these animal print brass bangles belonged to my Mum in the 1980's. The cocktail ring was 25p from a town centre charity shop.
1950's cropped wool jacket by Marston's of San Diego (eBay £4.90), 1960's crimplene shift dress (Charity stall £1.50), Faith concealed platform patent heels (Local market £5), Vintage silk scarf (Salvation Army 50p), Velvet opera gloves (Inherited)
Thanks for the lovely comments regarding my hair yesterday. I'm not normally one for fancy products but I treated a couple of my friends to this for Xmas as I loved the packaging. They were so impressed I used my Boots' Advantage Points to get my own.
So simple to use even I can manage it.
Loving those tights. Stunning combo as always, Vix.

Oh blimey you're so right about the leopard print, I've been thinking about putting the beast away till things calms down a bit but it's the warmest coat I have and this is the coldest winter for decades, so I'm having to brazen it out with the youngsters!
ReplyDeletePS the tights are gorgeous
ReplyDeleteyou know that i'm obsessed over leopard print! amazing!
ReplyDeleteThose tights are a huge hit. We'll all be down Claire's tomorrow, I'm a-thinking.

I really love leopard print but it is so 'in' at the moment that I don't wear it as much! Those tights are something else though - fantastic!!

There's something about leopard print that makes me smile - my Grandma who is 85 loves it and is thrilled its back in again - she's been having great fun rummaging through her extensive cupboards :)
ReplyDeleteHowever I think those tights are more me than her - I need to get some.
Hi my dear-a very chic and stylish look, you really do suit black and the leopardprint tights a re a great pop of colour too! xx
ReplyDeleteFab as always. I especially love the beautiful velvet gloves and the divine 1960s styling of the jacket over the shift - you are truly the mistress of misxing it up!
ReplyDeleteAnd I never care what's in fashion or not - I ALWAYS wear my vintage leopard!

Yay yay leopard tights! And what a superchic bargain showing your gorgeous legs to perfection, Vix. I secretly dream of a top-to-toe leopard outfit. One day! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab way to break up black! As usually I am gobsmacked at what you paid for everything. Love the suit and the bangles and I LOVE your leopard coat (still looking for the right leopard coat myself - you think it would be easy given the masses about) and I hope it doesn't stay hidden for too long - sure you look amazing in it!
ReplyDeleteOh ROOOWWWR Vix, you should wear mini skirts more often. Your legs are INCREDIBLE. And the tights are awesome. Love the entire outfit x
ReplyDeleteFabulous tights! I love all sorts of animal prints - I've got some boots and a belt right now. Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous print!!! The jacket is lovely as well. You have killer legs Vix, killer legs!!
ReplyDeletexxx
I love leopard print too! I've carried on wearing my vintage leopard coat even though it's falling apart. Yours is lush x
ReplyDeleteoh Vix, you are my saviour! A few weeks ago I saw a faux fur jacket in a charity shop in Bakewell for a few ££s.... unfortunately it was huge on me and I vowed to track one down in a smaller size. I lost the bit of paper that I wrote the make down on and have been searching and thinking about it ever since.... until now! Astraka! Just popped it in to ebay and found it just like that! So THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely outfit by the way, I love leopard and all animal prints xx
Big leopardprint fan too and though there are loads of cheap ones about atm (New Look anyone?) yours is just gorgeous and such a bargain too it seems! Beats any of the high street ones in the sales! Urging you to reconsider it... doing a great job with the tights though- I think they'd be a bit too loud for me but look amazing on you! x
ReplyDeleteAlso forgot to mention that I've only just noticed that you're back from Goa, how rude of me! Hope you had an amazing trip x
ReplyDeleteFAB tights!! Love the colour - there a bit special!! I love a bit of leopard myself - have been wearing my scarf today :D
ReplyDeleteSal xXx
I do not know how you do it, but I always end up laughing when I read your post.
ReplyDeleteI didn´t say anything about your hair, I was too busy looking at your coat hehehehe.

ReplyDeleteI love all my leopard tights just wish that they didn't rip so quickly
x x x
Those tights rule! They really stand out against the all black ensemble you've put together. You really know how to dress!
ReplyDeleteI love those chunky bracelets! xxx
I've really got to get out more! Those tights are just incredible!
ReplyDeleteOh my Grandma had almost the exact same coat as that! I'm really not a fan of leopardprint (on myself I hasten to add - it's fab on other people) but I do wish I'd kept it :(
ReplyDeleteEek, how exciting that you were watching Antiques Roadtrip today!! Didn't the place look rather nice? That was my lovely pal Lisa doing the talking - she has seniority when it comes to house related matters so she does the tv stuff. Rather her than me! I'd be way too shy!
so true about the leopardprint being everywhere. we discussed that too... but those stockings are one of a kind! also adds much flavor to the ensemble!
ReplyDeleteThose tights are great. What a fantastic colour.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably the only one I know who can rock those tights in such a glamorous way :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love Umberto Gianini products. Esp when they are 2 for £7!
I have bangle bracelet envy.
ReplyDeleteOMG! THIS IS SO PRETTY! :)
ReplyDeleteLoooove the tights!
ReplyDeleteI've fallen for leopard too! And there's a pair of D&G leopard tights that I just can't get out of my head and hope to get in my closet soon! :)

There are indeed a lot of people out and about in leopard print coats at the moment. Such a shame you had to relegate your gorgeous one for the season but can understand why.
ReplyDeleteLook the tights for spicing up the outfit.
x
Lovely outfit!
ReplyDeletejuliet xxx
Woosh, the bracelets are setting a bold image. Love the tights, fun color and pattern.
ReplyDeleteI like how this outfit is sophisticated and fun!
Donuting,

I hate it when fashion uses vintage "inspiration" and you can't wear certain pieces for a while! I have a gorge massive 70s owl pendant which I bought from shelter about 5 yrs ago and a couple of yrs ago I couldn't believe it when similar necklaces popped up on the high st.
ReplyDeleteAh but what a great alternative!
ReplyDeleteI've closeted my old furry leopard print jackets too. Unfair when our favourite quirky items are in vogue.
And backcomb in a bottle, i'm guessing it works as i detect more a bit more shuzz ;)
i may try that out with a teddy boy quiff
xxx
Oh goodness fabulous tights, you wear them so well! I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Claire’s Accessories, sometimes it’s like an Aladdin’s cave full of colour and kitsch!
ReplyDeleteI adore the 25p cocktail ring- how perfectly bold and beautiful xx
Yeeoowwww, Vix, those tights are sexy and cool!
ReplyDeleteI've loved catching up with all your posts. It looks like you had a fun New Year's Eve, happy to see the little hors d’oeuvre tree make an appearance again and the fun pic of your other half in an apron.
Thanks for sharing your Goa pics. India suits you Vix you took some gorgeous photos and you looked amazing. Loved the story about visiting the shrine, what a romantic couple you are! It must have been nice to escape the snow.
Happy New Year! xoxo, Bonnie
Those tights make your fabulous legs look even more fabulous! Love the pop of colour they bring to the outfit!
ReplyDeleteOoh great tights! Curious about the hair stuff now - yesterday I got some volumising mousse so may test your one after... :)
ReplyDeleteI love those bracelets! Chunky + metal + 80s = yes please. And you can never go wrong with leopard.
ReplyDeleteMate yoy get some great buys over there I so wish I could go to UK Id be charity shopping and flea marketiong all over the country.Imagine my costs for return flight tho I would have to wear most of it I think lol
