All About Me!

The gorgeous girls,  La Dama and VainGlorySinner both tagged me with an award and I have to share seven interesting facts about myself.

Here goes:
1. The cheeky lads at the boys' Grammar School used to call me "Nice legs shame about her face" when I was a teenager after the popular song by the Monks.

Nice legs, shame about the boat race

2. I've got 8 "O" Levels and 4 "A" Levels and apparently no common sense whatsoever, according to an ex-boss who described me as the scattiest yet most intelligent woman she'd ever met.

3. I have no qualms about taking my clothes off in public, apart from posing as a life model for art students I modelled underwear (in my youth!) and have gone skinny dipping on far too many occasions.

4. I'm very low maintenance, never having had a facial, manicure or pedicure, only had two professional waxes and the last time I visited a hairdresser was over fourteen months ago.

5. I'm such a bad singer that I was once carried off the stage by a bouncer at a karaoke night for ruining other people's enjoyment.

I may be a passable lookalike but sadly the singing's nowhere near Amy's standard

6. I'm scared of babies. I've never held one and when colleagues on maternity leave used to bring them into work I'd hide in the toilets. One of my friend's is due to give birth in the next few weeks and keeps threatening to make me a godparent...argh!

7. Despite us having a fleet of vintage VW's, three campervans, a Variant and a Beetle, I can't drive. I have the attention span of a gnat and my last driving instructor had a nervous breakdown (but I'm sure you can't blame me for that). I have had seventeen lessons and am quite good at reversing, parking and three-point turns, it's just the actual driving I can't master.
Destined for the role of passenger.

Care to share a few facts? I'm tagging anyone who wants to reveal some fascinating facts about themselves, don't be shy!

What am I wearing? Jeff Banks for W1 1960's blouse (50p car boot sale), Pop Boutique reworked skirt (50p car boot sale), High-heeled brogues (£1.95 British Heart Foundation).
A whole outfit for £2.95.

  1. The Jeff Banks blouse is wunderbar. And the boys at your school were MORONS. But then schoolboys are all usually morons.

I'm always happy to find other people who don't drive, I have failed my test twice but still hope one day I'll manage it. Hated learning in London though so I have given up on lessons for the moment! xx

  2. I heard some boys on the bus liken me to a duck because I waddle. And I have to admit I do. That was nearly 40 years ago. Not that I remembered at all.... ;o)

    Magenta. Hot.

  3. I love that blouse! I'm with you on the driving thing. And the baby thing, although I'm having to get over it now I'm an auntie ;) xx

Just adore your Jeff Banks blouse and pop boutique skirt, very cute and vibrant and its a shame you can't drive with a wonderful fleet of vehicles!! xx

  14. Topnotch outfit like that for UNDER £3! You goddess! I am laughing away, um we are so alike! I can't drive but kinda can but can't handle the road, avoid the hairdresser, have never had a manicure (just one pedicure) and am... well.... also really scared of babies (never ever babysat. Not once. No way.)
    Similar much!

  15. Your shirt is beautiful - I adore you in rich colours, they suit you so much.

I have so much respect for your low maintenance. I've only had a manicure once (and hated it) but I have been spending some wodge on my hair as it grows

  16. The boys called me 'the ginger bullet' (!?!) at school- or (the more logical) ginger-nut.

LOVE your Amy Winehouse photo. A newer nick-name (courtesy of the hens on my hen-night and specifically my sister) is Amy Wine-Gum!!

  18. I love the blouse and the Amy photo. That's not nice of the boys and not true either Your boat race is every bit as gorgeous as your legs. xxx

  19. Aaahh, I loved this! Boys are so cruel because what they really meant was: Legs and face. Damn, that girl is double lucky! Plus, I always thought it was my Germaness that made me easy going with nakedness. One of my first jobs was being a life model. (Actually my mum sent me, telling me it was an easy way to make money, but holding a position for 20 minutes and more is anything but easy!) xxx

  25. super-quick comment from me, re this:**I have no qualms about taking my clothes off in public, apart from posing as a life model for art students I modelled **

you never used to have a bob hairstyle in the 80's did you?? I was an art student and suddenly remembering my life models!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. All I can say is WOW. I think we may be style mates. You and I both follow the same philosophy about not giving a shit about what others think of our clothes. I was just looking through some of your posts and I'm amazed, you rock lady. I will be coming back for more and I can't wait to see what you wear next.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, I'm exactly the same with the driving (have failed test 4 times now). I'm great at the manoevres because I've a good memory and just follow the moves, but am awful at the driving round roads. Think it's because I'm a control freak to a certain extent and I hate no knowing what other drivers/pedestrians might do. And lack common sense too - went into one test and put my handbag at my feet, instant fail!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Those cheeky boys. You look amazing as Amy Winehouse x

    ReplyDelete
  29. Love the purple blouse on you and you look so cute in the checked maxi dress.
How rude of the bouncer to carry you off stage! I can't sing either although I have managed to find a local choir that lets anyone join and it's great!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love the photo with the mustard hat, all the colours go together beautifully xx

  31. Boys Boys Boys! They are really clueless. Legs and Face both gorgeous! They should meet you now eh? They must be fat and balding now :P ... Was fun knowing more about you ... you never cease to amaze!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Your number 7 is my number 7! I have also been told I have the attention span of a gnat and I cannot drive to save a life. Failed test twice and last one had to be stopped by instructor in middle of road. Epic fail but like you I can reverse and park like a demon;)

  33. Aha I'm scared of babies aswell! They just eat, vomit, shit and dribble. I tried holding my baby half-sister once upon a time but dropped her. Luckily she dropped onto the bed!

You had a very long nickname when you were younger ;)

  40. Fabulous Jeff Banks blouse. I lol'd at the baby thing, I totally understand the hiding in the loo!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think those boys were officially morons. Your face is just as stunning as your legs, possibly even more so. I suppose it was half a compliment though? I just got mocked for being fat and geeky at school, lucky me.

Uck, babies. I've held one and hated every awkward, wriggly second of it. Two of my best friends are due to give birth this year though so I suppose I'll be called upon to do holding duty soon. Not particularly looking forward to it, can you tell?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like this post so much I've made one myself too))
I can't drive too, I'm even scared to start learning. I'm perfectly happy with the subway (well, I actually hate it, but I'm still scared of driving))).
Love your dress (the one with the red belt))

  43. Boys are obnoxious! Don't listen to them. They don't realize what a star you are in the blog world.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I just passed my test last year at 42 and no it hasn't changed my life. Love the gingham dress.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You have great legs and a pretty face! Those boys were obviously blind!

You always..always...ALWAYS look lovely in your photos! How do you manage to look great every day? Share you secret :p

My mum would be very jealous of you, she has always wanted a VW camper van but she says she'd have to sell an arm and a leg to get one haha!

The Amy Winehouse picture made me laugh! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  46. I was incredibly in love with yesterday's outfit, but the saturated colors of today's (plus the cost!) make it my newest fav!
I would have thought you to be a big-time driver!
Though, you are lucky to not have to take the wheel. It unduces great sleepiness ;)

  49. hahahahahahaha!! Youre funny Vix and so honest!

Must confess I am a bit shocked that you don't drive... don't know why really, why should you know how to drive? I'm such a revhead grease monkey that's why I'm shocked I suppose!

God...that gingham dress... you in that gingham dress... your body in the Amy Winehouse [how appropriate is her name??] get up!!!

I Love babies!! LOVE!!! their smell (the good ones!), their laughter... ohhhh... I LOVE them! even though I do love when children have formed their personalities and are achieving independance and the learning process the wonder of it all... I love babies! Am so sad that my babies are all grown up now. Cannot wait for grandchildren!! HOWEVER... I am repulsed by pregnancy.

Totally wanted to do Angelina Jolie until I saw her pregnant.

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

  50. You might be low maintainance, but you look incredible! That might be the cheapest outfit in the world and you look hot!

I babysat my nephew today and was finding him very sweet and cuddly until he did a big stinky poo. And it was all sticky. Totally grossed me out and (lucky for hayden) put me off babies for a while (Or at least for a few hours!) I get very clucky usually, ha!

  53. Vix you look beautiful. Love the outfit.

Amazing how things change. Bet the boys from school kick themselves when they see you now! Hey, their loss!

I was called skeletor at school due to being so skinny. Not quite the same now days! Haven't been to the hairdressers in donkeys, as for being naked, well! My teenagers favourite saying, "it's disgusting!" lol.

Always amazes me how we change over the years. Never really lacked confidence however the older I get the more I please my self rather than worrying about other.

  54. I laughed when I read your comment about hiding when colleagues brought their newborn sprogs into work - cos I've done the same! I never took Monkeychild into work - some things are meant to be kept seperate.

  61. Very interesting facts about Vix. I can understand you being scared of babies. They can be a piece of horror :) Truthfully I'm not very interested in other people's babies. Only mine. The purple top in such a gorgeously vibrant shade. Looks good!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Sighing wistfully over that flowy plum purple blouse!

I'm startled by your feelings about babies. You looked like such a benevolent natural at the ceremony in India. I think you'd be the coolest godmother ever; imagine what fun taking an impressionable young mind with you to boot sales and concerts.

The cheeky boys were correct about your legs, and stupid about your face. Your face is fascinating. The intelligent, perceptive ones are probably dreaming of it -- and you -- to this day.
