All us vintage-loving chicks have our favourite era, for me it's the late 1960's and the early 1970's. Psychedelia, hippy culture, the overland trail, free festivals, sexual equality, long hair, bra burning, eastern philosophy, The Rolling Stones, crushed velvet, free love, Jimi Hendrix, mini and maxi dresses, platform soles, crimplene....what's not to love?
Vintage frock (Banardos' £2.99), Edwardian lace up boots (British Heart Foundation £4.99), Yellow opaques (Dorothy Perkins courtesy of the lovely Alex) |
I spotted this vintage 1960's mini dress on sale in Banardos' earlier and thought I'd nabbed the find of the day until I discoved these vintage lovelies hanging on the charity stall on the market.
St Michael nylon maxi dress £1 - actually a nightie but a perfect beach dress in Goa
1960's linen coat, still in the dry cleaner's wrapper. A perfect fit, Very Jackie O and just £2.
Sweet 1960's crimplene mini dress, again a perfect fit for £1.50.
Another perfectly fitting frock, a 1960's black crimplene number with gold lurex daisy braiding £1.50
Now which one do I wear to the pub tonight?
Your dress is adorable!!!!

Ahere do you live that you can get goodies so cheap? Up here in Edinburgh Barnado's is one of the more expensive charity shops, and a dress like that would be at least a tenner!

Come along to our Vintage Christmas Festival!
ReplyDeleteThis December, tucked away in an East London nook, an all day Christmas Festival presents a vintage alternative to festive shopping and entertainment – offering refuge from the misery of Oxford Street and fizzless Christmas parties.
From 1.00pm on Sunday December 12th, the regal Queen of Hoxton pub will play host to an unconventional festive extravaganza with a bursting line-up that includes carols, cabaret and Christmas karaoke. All based in a location lined with vintage market stalls, selling treats, trinkets, and vintage treasures.
Each stall will offer something different, as an alternative present for friends and loved ones. The day will be filled with on-spot raffles including bottles of champagne and festival tickets. Adding a traditional sparkle to the Festival, vintage hair and make-up teams will be on hand to make guests up into a style from their favourite decade (40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s). Just in time for the evening’s shenanigans.
Tickets allow guests entry from 1.00pm through to the end of the night, to enjoy a party lined with mulled wine and mince pies.
Tickets cost just £6 and each ticket sold will be donated to St Mungo’s to buy a homeless Londoner a hot Christmas dinner on December 25th.
To buy a ticket, visit: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/1014244633/efbevent
Not many people can get away with yellow tights, but you just rock them, Vix - fab look! x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finds! When on your charity shop/boot sale trips how on earth do you decide what to keep an what to sell?! I would want to keep everything!!
