I thought I'd actually managed to visit the Salvation Army charity shop on Friday without making a purchase which wouldn't have been a bad thing after the huge haul of goodies I'd found at the car boot sale and both jumble sales the day before.....
...but just as I was leaving the manager called me back and presented me with this vibrant 1960's wool suit she'd held back from earlier in the week.
It's actually from a Bridal Centre, hot chilli red seems a strange choice for a bride. I've left the tag in to show the £2 bargainacious price.
The cooler weather means digging out the boots I snaffled in TopShop's August sale for £20. The advantage of living in the town that style forgot means that beauties like this end up reduced to clear whilst the rest of the female population shuffle about in fake Uggs and tatty ballet flats.
Two-piece wool suit (Salvation Army) Vintage mesh gloves (Car Boot sale) |
An exciting parcel arrived from Australia this morning which I'll be sharing with you tomorrow. I've also been asked to do a perfume post and a "Why I Love Vintage" feature. Any more requests are very welcome.
Oooh gorgeous boots! We also have that 'style' problem in my town, the Uggs are taking over!
ReplyDeleteOhh the boots are beautiful, I must admit I do have some UGGs, when you are at a football match in the middle of winter there is nothing better. But that's more about practicality than style
ReplyDeleteLove the boots! Not sure I'd manage to walk in them mind x
ReplyDeleteOh those are the Aggy boots aren't they? Been trying to get my hands on pair of those on ebay sparodically for a while. Your description of your town is hilarious. Fab suit, love the colour! £2!!! I need to move...
ReplyDeleteOh, the boots, the boots!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit and those shoes! Wow! I'm having a hard time thinking a bride wore that suit maybe it's meant for the mother of the bride?
ReplyDeleteImagine if you and all your followers lived in the town that style forgot - we'd all be so freakin' fabulous!
~Bonnie

Dear Vix,
ReplyDeleteI got your parcel this morning, THANK YOU so much my lovely!
The pants are hillarious, I don't know whether to wear them or do an Anna Ryder Richardson and frame them.
I'm wearing the fabulous earrings already & I might sneak off to bed early with the book tonight.
That dress suit is amazing, the colour is spectacular & it really suits you.
...xXx
Ooh, a perfume post...interesting...me like. Loving the red dress.
ReplyDeleteDear Vix, the colour is fabulous on you. What an amazing price. I laughed at "the town that style forgot." At least you have it in bucket loads xx
ReplyDeleteThat suit - what a great buy. All the Salvation army shops near us have had "makeovers" and hiked up prices to compensate, you'd never get something like that here for £2. Sooo jealous - love the boots too. xxx
ReplyDeletei revel in stories of clerks pulling you aside and showing you what they have been saving for you! this is the coral bomb! this is my fav vintage period.
ReplyDeleteOh! May be the bride was Indian? Chose Red! :) Nonetheless you look fab in it and those booties are absolutely delicious!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous suit, but yes - a strange choice for bridalwear! Gorgeous Topshop shoes, better than Uggs any day. xx

Super finds and looking forward to your upcoming posts...would love to know more about your kitchen as it looks lovely xx
ReplyDeletebeautiful outfit against the wonderful backdrop of autumn leaves! plus those shoes are amazing! they look rather difficult to walk it, though? then again, i find any type of heel difficult to walk in, aha!
ReplyDeletea request? well, we all know how brilliant you are at putting your most bargainous pieces together, with the cost of many of your outfits under five pounds, but i would love to see you put together your 'most expensive outfits'! whether the pieces are from the high street, jumble sales..etc, i think it will be really rather interesting to see what's the most you have spent on your clothes, and your reasons behind the purchases :)
jazmine. xxx
That is one fanTASTIC suit and such an incredible price! I think you are very lucky to live where there are so many bargains to be had.
ReplyDeletexx
The shoes are really gorgeous..and the color looks great on u.
ReplyDeleteHi Vix! Missed you so! I too live in a land style forgot (at least a neighborhood) and though ballet flats are a fav. of mine, the fake uggs and sneakers and sweatpants and way-too-big men's T's/jeans kill my soul a little bit at a time ;)
ReplyDeleteI bought some killer heels while on my trip, one purple pair suede sandals, 6"heels, and poppin platform pumps. Grrr.......!
I flippin LOVE the booties and your outfits are so amazing, I could just say "I love em all" right now, sight unseen :)
Hi my dear-this colour so suits you and what a fabulous bargain too! The boots are just gorgeous, a lucky find!

ReplyDeleteThat suit is GORGEOUS. The colour really suits you too. Thank you for my lovely parcel, it's great... I'll do an outfit post with it later in the week :-) see you soon. xx
ReplyDeleteOh god, I hate uggs - I think there should be a law against them. I love those boots! I do look forward to autumn when the boots can come out.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it was a mother of the bride outfit? Very stylish mother of the bride obviously! It's gorgeous, such a vivid colour.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I could ever describe Liverpool as the land that fashion forgot. Unlucky really - maybe if it was I'd bag some of the fab sale things you find. There are lots of different styles around but dressing to impress is definitely key here.
HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???
ReplyDeleteI have to find these places in new york!!! my pockets will thank me and i really need to save!!!
but above all u always have things noone else has!!!
Absolutely amazing! You have such an eye, and it must be lovely to know people who keep gorgeous finds back just for you :-)

ReplyDeleteOh look at you, I love that red on you. You're so lucky to score that beautiful wool suit at such a bargain price. I'm amazed at how little you have to spend to look so decadently gorgeous everyday. The boots are a bargain - they look like they have a metallic sheen - perfectly sexy and delish;) xo

ReplyDeleteShirl x
It even comes with a jacket?! So fabulous! (and I agree, it's more the dress for the hot lover than the bride, but then maybe this was the dress of one hot loving bride...)
ReplyDelete& the boots go perfectly with it. xxx
Hehe love the description of your town.
ReplyDeleteThis colour really suits you, and I love the shoes.

Yes, I'll bet the red suit was for a mother-of-the-bride -- a particularly vibrant and dashing mother of the bride. Or mother-of-the-groom, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI imagine I may have missed a post like this, but I'd love to see a photographic tour of your home sometime.
A true bargain, so vibrant but utterly fabulous as always xx
