A bit of a paper-themed post today. First let me show you the amazing vintage frock my dear friend Jem sent in her brown paper parcel yesterday. Although I'm not a massive 1980's fan the futuristic styling of this beauty really appealed. Jon declared "Phwoar, Blakes's Seven" whereas I reckoned it was more in the style of Robert Palmer's backing band in his "Addicted To Love" video. Either way, I love it! Thanks, my darling! Perfect for adding an injection of much-needed rock class next time I'm down the biker's pub with the girls.
Vintage dress (Courtesy of the beautiful, Jem), Urban Outfitters purple net tights (Banardo's 48p), Black patent platforms (Local market £5) |
As usual it was wrapped to perfection.
Also included was some fabulous monochrome fabric which I've got in mind for a 1960's style shift dress, vintage buttons, ribbon and net and a groovy dogtooth checked scarf.
Whilst we were clearing out the guest bedroom in readiness for decorating we unearthed some of Jon's rock star past. He's the pouting beauty on the far right. Gorgeous! No wonder he was a Just Seventeen pin-up of the Fortnight on more than one occasion.
Finally , now it's in place I couldn't wait to show off our Cole and Son hand-blocked wallpaper I scored off eBay ages ago. It retails at around £85 a roll but I got two for £7 including postage. Now that's what I call a bargain.
I've got an early start in the pub this evening, we're meeting at 7pm and I haven't even washed my hair yet.
Must dash, have a great night whatever you're planning. xxx
That dress looks gorgeous on you :) What a lovely parcel - as always.
ReplyDeleteOoh check out your pouty other half! When was that poster from?
That wallpaper is lovely, but £85 a roll! Blimey! I'm v.impressed with your bargain - tis v.effective..

ReplyDeleteThat's so funny, I thought I recognised Jon from somewhere! Isn't he lovely! I only wish The Actor would let me post pics of him...

Vix - I had no idea your Jon was in the Charlatans. At first I thought you meant Jon Brookes, whom Google tells me collapsed a few weeks ago and was diagnosed with a brain tumor Eek! Hoping that's not your Jon, and instead Jon Baker. I'll have to check out some of their early tunes.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to pictures of your guest room decorating! And I think you would be fabulous as a Robert Palmer backup girl -- you just need a black and white keytar or something.
Love the black, beige, and silver shimmer of this post.
The dress suits you to perfection ( I love the 80s). The photo with the wall paper backgroud look so good.
ReplyDeleteHave a super time, you lucky girl!!

That wallpaper!! oh my! Jem's packaging... sigh... you and Jon!!! wow. Just WOW.
Great dress! :D And bless your Jon, I bet he has some great memoriblia!
ReplyDeleteSal xXx
Gorgeous wallpaper and gorgeous looking boy - lucky you! xx
ReplyDeleteYOWZA YOWZA YOWZA!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely wicked…I love it!
I just knew that even though the 80s is not your fave fashion era, the dress would look brill on you...and I was so right!
Fun for a night out, then you can always pass it on to a 80s devotee on eBay & get a few pennies to buy something you'll really love.
Jon looks so cute in that flyer, what a devastatingly pretty young boy he was back then! I love looking at Marky pics from before we met; there are some rather uproarious ones from the 80s, all permed hockey hair & spray-on jeans...I still think he was gorgeous though ;)
Both Mark & I love that wallpaper, it looks almost holographic.
Yet another astounding Vix bargain of unspeakable proportions.
The plumber came this morning, so the leak is fixed, thank goodness!
I’m totally shattered now from spending several nights listening out for dripping noises & just generally being super paranoid & as my mum would say “painting the devil on the wall”…imagining the bathtub falling through the ceiling.
Take care my love,
Jem
xXx
You look smashing in that dress. Timeless and very, very classy.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is fab on you, can't wait to see what you do with the material!
