Where's Your Head At?

Vintage Courtelle A-Line Skirt and Jackie suede sandals (Jumble sale), 1970's nylon top (Vintage shop), Socks (Jon's drawer)
Surprisingly, after last night's drunken dinner party shenanagans, I woke up early, clear-headed and positively raring to go.

My Grandma bought me this Robin Wallace designed mug when I was a little girl, I can't believe I haven't broken it in all the years I've owned it.

I finished the darkly enjoyable Jenny Diski novel I won in a blog giveaway. (Thanks, Sangu).

I completed my latest patchwork curtains.

I added another three pictures to my kitsch wall of misery.

...and after catching sight of my hair in the photographs Jon took earlier I've got the next half-hour taken care of.

  4. Your hair looks lovely but I know what you mean; when you feel it needs doing, you want to get it done and then forget about it.
Thanks for the compliment, I haven't really felt like doing a lot this weekend as I have been doing overtime at work these past few weeks and it has caught up with me. It also doesn;t help that I have been wide awake since 6am and only dzong all night due to a snoring husband. If we ever get a big enough house I think we may be having a his and her room so that at least if he is keeping me up I have a nice spare bed to go and slaap in peacefully! xx

  6. Your hair always looks fabulous! I'm never sure about the socks look, but you are really rocking it.

I adore the patchwork curtains so much, I need to give making patchwork a go, there is so much fabric knocking around here. However, I have ordered that fabric scrapping book for further inspiration. Thanks!

  7. Yesterday (I think) I scrolled FAR down your blog to find the last picture of your patchwork curtains. I sent the link to a blogging "buddy" who showed curtains SHE'D made from skirts of favorite, old dresses (not patchwork, though). I REALLY like yours.

I need new glasses! I've tried to figure out the patter on your top here. I like the colors & the sock/sandal pairing!

  13. The socks and shoes are such a quirky statement; I love the bright red in contrast to the black socks.

Those patchwork curtains look lovely, I am so very impatient when it comes to sewing, I am forever making mistakes and don’t think I could ever make something large scale, I really admire you. Be sure to show us them once there up xx

It always gives me a lift to see your home. so cozy and the Wall is one of my favs.;)
I am intriqued by morning people. It seems like a lovely notion to pop up and get going before 3pm or so, and do stuff as well :)
We night-owls seem to fare better and better as the evening goes on, and kick and scream when it's time to go to bed ;)
The world seems more geared towards the A.M. varieties. I actually switch over once or twice a year. The morning is a lovely place!

I see you have a Toyota sewing machine, mine's a Singer but I do have a Toyota Corolla! It's my 3rd Toyota and they are very reliable cars.

Recently viewed Monsoon Wedding and loved it as you said I would!

  29. Dear Vix, you look great and I love the socks and sandals look.

I think your wall of misery is hilarious and they look beautiful the way you've hung them.

The patchwork curtains look great. I really wish I could sew. I'm shocking on a sewing machine, I just manage to bunch it all up in a mess! Amazing you still have that mug intact! I would probably have broken the handle off that too xx

  35. Hooray! 'Darkly enjoyable' really is an apt way to describe The Dream Mistress, I'm so glad you liked it, Vix!

I've just been catching up with all the posts of yours that I've missed while crazy-busy this last week, and I am, as ever, in awe of your style and your energy.

Finished Animal's People a couple of days ago. It was so grim and depressing and yet so fantastic! Thanks so much, Vix!
