Cheap Frills

This 1970's frilly top was another vintage treasure reserved for me by the lovely Salvation Army ladies. Somewhat stained and grubby, I gambled £1.25 and it washed up a treat.

This was last evening's choice of outfit. Kicking off with a few pints of pale ale in the pub, a dash to the offie for wine followed by a slap-up Indian feast with Adrian and Liz, just back from a European railway adventure. Travel tales and festival gossip were exchanged until the early hours when I walked back barefoot as my clogs were killing me.

Fellow British blogging lovelies seem to be stressing about transitional clothes. Our British summer might be typically rubbish but as far as I'm concerned it's August and I intend to dress in my seasonal best until my skin turns blue with cold.

There's even more vintage treats from the Salvation Army to share. Just as well really as there's been no car booting this morning as poor Jon's put his back out overdoing the DIY.

Would you credit it? In all my excitement about the stash of vintage pendants I forget to wear one.

  1. You look as gorgeous as ever. Wish I could do off-the-shoulder but am too ample (understatement) to sport a strapless bra. Which pendant WOULD you have chosen?

  2. Your Salvation Army really does sound like one of those lovely Charity shops, i'm presuming not the type of Charity shop that is overpriced and a little too shop like?

Your gamble certainly did pay off, it's amazing teamed with the maxi skirt xx

  5. I love going in the charity shop for clothes, looks as though you have a good one. Love the pretty blouse. Thank you for the wonderful compliment, my legs have got a leg slimmer and more toned since I started exercising a few months ago. I've only just started getting them out! :-)

You'd be very pleased with me - I bought a 70s/early 80s red polka dot maxi dress on ebay for £2 the other day. It's a bit too small at the moment but I'm sure it won't be too long before it fits. It's an incentive to lose weight anyhow.

  6. Hi Vix, love your outfit, I especially love the top as I am fond of polka dots. I think that if we were back in the day, I would have cropped the top for a bare midriff and paired it with torn jeans shorts, wedge sandals and a ton of loose bracelets. I do mean back in the day as I wouldn't be able to pull it off today trust me! But it's nice to dream ey!

Hope you are having a dreamy Sunday, Bonnie

PS - What is an offie? Trying to come up with possible words but I'm at a loss!

  8. @Jen: I'd have gone for the silver faux fob watch.
@Bonnie: Offie is local slang for Off Licence, a shop licenced to sell booze for outside consumption.

Your belt is different to mine so it may not be from Primark, probably its from somewhere more expensive, its a nice belt.

  17. I'm a big maxi skirt fan, so your lovely blue number with the waist cincher belt gets a big thumbs up from me!

BTW - thanks for your lovely comments on my recent post. Yeah, its more than likely that were we at the same clubs and probably gigs back then. Can you remember the psychedelia floor at The Institute? I used to love it when they used strawberry scented dry ice!

  22. Hi there, this outfit is fantastic, I like your fun and funky style of dressing and accessorizing.

I too am perplexed about the summer leaving too quickly, I still have summer outfits to wear too, but that's funny that you are willing to go blue in sake of fashion :D Well done you!
