Thank you to all the wonderful people who were kind enough to leave a message following my post on the loss of Mum. You'll never know how truly moved I am by your wonderful words of support, we may yet to meet but I already feel like we're friends.
Today's been far too beautiful to be sad so we've concentrated on doing lovely things. We've re-waterproofed our vintage pneumatic dome tent (bought for 25p from a Scout jumble sale last summer) and we're camping outside tonight to get into the festival spirit, as it's only a month till the festival season kicks off and we're out of practice.
You can't beat a warm night under canvas with the love of your life and a bottle of white rum for company.
Don't worry, despite the lack of blogging I have still been getting dressed this week. So many kind people have called round to pay their respects I'd have been letting Mum down if I'd greeted them in anything less than fabulous. Even the undertaker was treated to a vintage maxi dress, killer heels and enormous earrings.
My maxi skirt was part of the parcel I received from India a couple of weeks ago, it's handmade from off-cuts of recycled sari silk and it's gloriously swishy. The Janis Joplin top was originally a shapeless jumble sale teeshirt I refashioned in to boob tube.
The brass bangles are part of the enormous collection of costume jewellery Mum amassed over the years. I don't think I'll ever need to buy another bangle, necklace or earring ever again.
Some of the beautiful cards and flowers I've received this week.
Thanks for your friendship and support,
Vix

ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. You are gorgeous. What an adventure - the tent, the rum, the love of your life. The bangles are perfect with the outfit you've assembled for this post. It's good to have you back.
ReplyDeleteYou have been on my mind all week, I bet you are exhausted with the grief, visitors and organisation. I hope the weather stays kind for your camping out, but once the rum kicks in who cares anyway?

What a fab tent, severely envious, I'm looking for a smaller tent for festivals and one nighters and that is just perfect. Your skirt is completely yummy.

Hi sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Jon had a lovely time in your marvellous 25p tent.
You never cease to amaze me with your jaw dropping bargains!
If they had something similar to 'The Oscars' for bargain hunters then you'd not only be nominated in most categories you'd also have a heavy load of gongs to carry home after the ceremony...I just had a momentary vision of you on the red carpet there ;)
I just want you to know that both my hubby & I are sending lots of positive energy your way.
…xXx
Well your tent is wonderful. So glad you are making the effort in the sense of finding time to get on with things. But do take care and look after yourself. You look lovely xx
