Spring Fever

Despite today's frosty start it's actually feeling a bit like spring in the sunshine, maybe that's why a random guy kerb-crawled me as I walked from town this morning asking for a date. My Grandma used to say "In spring a young man's fancy turns to love."  Mind you, he may just have been dazzled by my clashing colours.

Today's outfit knocked me back a whopping £13.99

Vintage shift dress 20p (Jumble Sale)
Cropped jacket £2 (Car Boot Sale)
Suede boots £10 (TopShop)
Perspex chain  99p (Oxfam)
Leather Gladstone bag 30p (Jumble Sale)
1960's driving gloves 50p (Car Boot Sale)

Using old pairs from the tights tarantula trapped in my undies drawer I've layered a pair of metallic purple tights over a matt grey pair to create hyacinth blue. I hate buying new tights and another of Grandma's sayings was "necessity is the mother of invention."

Whilst I was in town I couldn't resist popping into the charity shops. I snaffled this rather pretty 1960's glazed cotton toilet bag set for £1.75.

The bigger of the two will make a groovy handbag.
These fifties-era stylised rose plates by Wood's were 10p each.

  15. Just wondering what area (roughly, not your address!) you live in? I go to many charity shops, on a daily basis, and am finding prices are getting higher and higher - Scope in particular almost charges full price for the clothes there....seems to me lots of charity shops have valuers nowdays - they seem to know the value of everything. How do you find prices, bargains notwithtanding, in your stomping ground?

  29. Wow! So many lovely comments. I appreciate every word you type, I really do.

Kessik - I live the West Midlands, just outside Birmingham. I regularly visit different towns and always find the poorer, more down-at-heel places the best. In these areas the locals buy because they're hard-up, not 'cos they're fashion savvy. This means the vintage, glamorous and designer treasures aren't a priority.
Posher places have better informed staff, they know their labels and the prices are much higher.
