Hey Big Spender!

I splashed out yesterday, handing over a whopping £6.95 for this Sylvan of London labelled maxi dress. What do you mean, not another vintage maxi dress, Vix? I know but I just couldn't help myself, I spied the vibrant print, pulled it out from the rail and fell in love plus it's for a Cancer charity, a cause close to my heart.

I wore it out to the pub last night. As usual I managed to pull the hem down before the evening was out so it's now in the mending basket awaiting repair.

The weather this morning was nothing like the anticipated Indian Summer we were promised by the BBC so boot sale plans were shelved and we opted for a jumble sale instead. The clothes weren't very exciting but I picked up a bit more vintage tat.

A pair of framed embroideries for 50p

Two 1930's gilded porthole mirrors for £1

This tacky crinoline lady bell (to summons Jon with when my glass needs topping up) was 20p.
I also found Jon an Empire-made pair of blue and white plimsolls for 10p which he's rather taken with.

We're having a night in with Cuba Libres and home-made pizza and hopefully a car boot sale in the morning (weather permitting).

Whatever you're up to hope it's fun.

  5. I have a little bell shaped lady like that I got on a visit to Spain. It is in the shape of the Virgin Mary and it was a souvenir of a site where there is a pilgrimage walk. It is packed away somewhere gathering dust. Would it be sacrilege to put her to work calling for more sherry?
Maxi dresses are you to you what shoes are to me! Love the print on this one - definitely worth the splurge!

  14. Love this dress Vix, it really suits you! I had to shelve market plans this weekend too, it's raining for the fourth day in a row today, my backyard is so squelchy and muddy I'm too scared to park the car there, had to leave it on the street!

  15. Loving the maxi, I can never get enough of them on you :) No one else can rock them like you.
I really love the embroidered pictures, they have such character and the roses are lovely ;), though the Asia influence of the birdies is equally impressive.
