Hello!!
When Jon told me he was off on a tip run on Tuesday morning, I hadn't planned on tagging along, but he lured me with the promise of looking around the charity shops nearby so I threw on the nearest thing to hand and luckily it looked okay.
We found a USA-made Rangers top, a 1990s Antoni & Alison tweed coat, a limited edition FC Mallorca Kappa footie shirt, a Moschino sweatshirt (with holograms, not a Turkish knock-off) and this fabulous 100% wool Nepali knitted jacket, which went straight into Jon's wardrobe.
On Monday we started Irish cop drama, Blackshore, and watched the rest of Tuesday night. It's a compelling watch with a strong and convincing female lead and there's enough loose ends for a second series (I hope!) Blue Lights fans will recognise a couple of characters.
Wednesday kicked off with a swim and, once again I managed to do a mile in 42 minutes.
It was dry when we left the house at just after 7am but when we left the baths it was peeing it down and barely light...on days like these, anyone who claims to love the Winter seriously needs to give their head a wobble.
I felt the need for some eye-searing psychedelia, reaching for this vintage 1970s maxi I'd scored on Vinted last year for £5.
We had a mooch around the chazzas and (for the stockroom) I found a couple more of deadstock Hype rave tops along with this lovely 1950s rayon day dress.
Jon wanted something to rest his drink on when he's sitting on the new sofa so we popped into B&M on the way home and found this Mid-Century inspired table for £6.
I've done well with secondhand books this week. I think I might start Dictator by Robert Harris (I've read all but two of his novels, I bloody love him!) after I've finished my Hester Stanhope biography, I feel the need to get lost in Ancient Rome.
It took William 24 hours to trust the settee, sitting on the arm of my chair and eyeing it up with suspicion....but it's finally met with his approval and he spent a large part of the day on it. I found those Frida cushion covers on Vinted last year (a set of five for £8).
With the rain showing no signs of stopping, taking Vinted photos outside was out of the question so I cracked on with my repurposing some of the old sofa project.
Wednesday was, as usual, rum and cola night. We watched Parasite, the South Korean film which won the Best Film Oscar in 2019 and upset Trump (HERE) which is as good a reason as any to watch it. It was superb, darkly humorous and great fun.
hursday was another grim day and with no desire to venture further than the bin I spent most of the day sewing. A house day calls for a housecoat..although I wear this fabulous 1970s wool number (a gift from friends G'n'T many years ago) to go out in, too!
Thanks for reading, see you soon!

As I blocked out that four year nightmare, I hadn't heard his diatribe against Parasite, a fantastic movie. I'm glad William knows the respect deserved; kitty fodder. There's so many books here I could read for years, but I still love a good explore.
ReplyDeleteGood find with the Rangers jersey. Is there a name on the back? The name can affect the value.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book suggestions.
