Hello! Excuse the gap between posts, it's been a busy old week. In addition to making a waistcoat and spending most of Monday in Spoons, I've swum 1.25miles and walked around ten, spent an hour and a half on my Wii Fit and listed over 200 items online. I've spent four mornings exploring the charity shops of various Black Country towns, sold a shedload of stuff on Vinted and managed to get it all wrapped and despatched within a few hours of selling it.
On Saturday, for a morning of photographing & listing stock and a quick sprint into town for some eyelets for my waistcoat from the haberdasher's, I wore an All About Audrey wrap top (boght in 2018) with an Indian Imports of Rhode Island vintage 1970s maxi skirt (eBay, 2021) and a Monsoon fedora (retail sale buy, 2022).
On Sunday, for a visit to the clearance chazza and an afternoon of Vinted listing, I wore a vintage Adini maxi dress (£1 from a charity shop, 2017), a vintage 1970s velvet jacket (vintage stall at Womad) and a felted wool fedora (eBay, 2020) which I'd customised using an offcut of the Golden Lily curtain I'd made my waistcoat from.
You've already seen what I wore on Monday for a day in Spoons but here it is again...
Vintage Kate Beaver velvet maxi dress, a maxi waistcoat made from Morris & Co., Golden Lily curtains, an orange wool fedora (Debenhams sale, 2017) and my copal beads (50p from the clearance chazza).
On Tuesday for swimming, breakfast in 'Spoons, a whizz around the chazzas and an afternoon of Vinted listings, it was a Dilli Grey block printed midi dress (2021), a plum fedora (Debenhams sale, 2017), Dune leather snake boots (Vinted) and a vintage horseshoe nail pendant (50p!) I bought the burgundy opaques (by Pretty Polly) from eBay in 2015 and they're still going strong!
On Wednesday for a morning of charity shopping and an afternoon of yet more Vinted listings I wore a vintage crushed velvet embroidered kaftan (Vinted, 2023), my new cowboy boots (well, not that new, I've been wearing them on repeat for over seven weeks!) and a Monsoon fedora (retail buy, 2022).
On Thursday for swimming, Spoons and yet more Vinted listings I wore another Dilli Grey dress (bought in 2022) with my Gohil's exotic snakeskin boots (bought by my junior school teacher in 1966 and gifted to me a decade ago!). Despite stuffing my hair in this charity shopped River Island cap, which Jon calls my gimp hat, I still managed to get it wet in the rain when I walked down to the baths, hence it looking a bit fuzzy!
On Friday, for a morning of charity shopping and another afternoon spent with Vinted, I gave this vintage psychedelic maxi its first outing. It's handmade with cosy courtelle-type fabric, big in the 1960s, which'll be perfect for chilly festival nights. I bought it on Vinted for a tenner as it needed a few repairs, namely replacing all 14 of the buttons (luckily I have a vast supply of vintage ones!) I shall pack it away now it's had its first outing, along with this groovy 1970s fake fur lined cotton gilet, another future festival garment (and another Vinted find). The purple suede boots are original 1960s go-go boots and were a gift from Gisella.
Whilst we've found lots for the stock room in the chazzas this week, other than the obligatory paperback novels and vintage vinyl, the only thing I'm keeping is this little pot of Absinthe lip balm. The cover model looks very familiar!
William's made himself at home on my Afghan war rug (yeah, they're quite rare and highly sought after but who am I to deny the cat?) He's currently obsessed with the catnip peapod Ann & Jos bought him over from Belgium.
It's Friday and it's almost rum o'clock. Have a fab weekend and see you on the other side.
PS Here's the link to our Vinted profile, if you fancy a look!
No need to apologise for an absence - life is definitely for living!
ReplyDeleteVinted is not my friend at the moment. I use In Post lockers too, but another item of mine has gone astray. I know we'll both be compensated, but it was an item I would rather have kept than have it get lost in the system - and In Post's customer services are next to useless!
Gorgeous outfits as ever. What a clever idea, customising your fedora with left over material!
I wonder if you'll see the green fairy whilst using that lip balm?
Hello Claire! After 15 years of blogging I always feel guilty if I don't post a couple of times a week (ot keep up with comments!)
DeleteHow frustrating about the In-post lockers, do you always use the same ones? I'm finding most parcels reach their destination within 48 hours of posting - although I've probably put the kibosh on it now I've mentioned it! I remember trying to track a couple of items I'd purchased earlier this year and the customer service was terrible. One parcel took 3 weeks to arrive but at least it reached me eventually!
Too many bad nights on the Absinthe - I'm glad the balm's mint flavoured and not the dreaded wormwood! xxx
I'm exhausted just reading your first paragraph! And a whole day in Spoons is very impressive :)
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping my swimming, walking and Wii Fitting counteracts a day spent in the pub! xxx
DeleteAw, no more EBay shop? That's a lorra listings!!Good luck with it all.xx
ReplyDeleteSadly Ebay seems to have died a death, I've sold on there since 2001 and am very sad to leave it but you've got to go where the buyers are. xxx
DeleteHaven't looked at Vinted much yet, will look at your shop though. I do love your fedora hats, I am going to treat myself to one for Christmas :) Aren't black cats the most majestic creatures :) Betty
ReplyDeleteHello Betty! Be warned, Vinted is very addictive but great fun, too! I have a treat myself to a new fedora every year, I love the Accessorize/Monsoon ones, they're really well made and very comfy.
DeleteBlack cats are incredible, I could stare at William all day long! xxx
I love that bright coloured dress. It cheers up all the grey days we've been having of late.Arilx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hasn't it been miserable - both weather and news-wise? xxx
DeleteSurely there's no need to apologize! Any post from you is a treat, no matter how long the gap between them! It's always a treat too to see your outfits. I really need to get my act together in both departments ... As for charity shopping, I've just been for a wee rummage this afternoon, the very first time in many weeks!
ReplyDeleteThat little pot of Absinthe lip balm is gorgeous, and I'm glad to read that the "model" is enjoying his Belgian pea pod. xxx P.S. Just went down a rabbit hole on your Vinted profile :-)
Thanks so much, Ann! You've had a lot on your plate lately and it's hard to get back into the rhythm of posing for outfit photos after a prolonged absence. I'm excited to hear that you've had a bit of a charity shopping session today, I can't wait to see what you've found.
DeleteWilliam lo9ves his peapod, it's distracted him from the fireworks this week! xxx
A very nice outfit week. Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Friday are my absolute favorites.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the beautiful colors.
xxx
Thanks so much, Andrea! xxx
DeleteNo need to apologize, blogs can always wait. It's important to live in the moment.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your week in outfits. Wonderful maxi outfits...and I love your collection of hats...and your hair looks cute with that light curl.
It's great you enjoyed some swimming....I need to find a place to swim here!
Anyhow, the green handmade psychedelic maxi is my fav look this week. It's everything one would want in a vintage psychedelic maxi dress. I like how you styled first outing. How wonderful it's handmade and cosy and warm. The purple suede boots are so pretty, too. Such a lovely present from a friend.
That absinthe mint lip balm has such a pretty cover. The cat on the cover does look like your cat. I have some cats friends now, too. You could say that I share my cats with my neighbours. :)
Enjoy your Sunday evening!
Hello Ivana! I'm ridiculously disciplined so I see not blogging regularly as being lazy, I doubt anyone notices if I'm a day behind publishing a post, it's just me and my self-imposed standards!
DeleteI love that you share cats with the neighbours, I know William visits at least one of our neighbours regularly, he even sleeps on their bed! xxx
I'm totally exhausted after reading about your busy week (any of my 'busy' weeks is considerably less productive!). And it's always lovely to see your outfits and finds and Mr.William. Love your dresses and matchy hats and delightful accessorizing!, but my favourite one is that psychedelic green outfit with that cool waistcoat and purple accessories!! totally in love with it!.
ReplyDeleteI have to find the time to list some clothes in Vinted (and probably invest the money in more fab pieces!).
besos
Thanks, Monica! I feel like the swimming, walking and working out compensates a little for the pub all-dayers! I was amazed to find that psych dress at such a great price, I had to give it an outing before packing it away for next Summer. xxx
DeleteDoh! Behind again!
ReplyDeleteI love all your outfits. It's essential to wear colour in this horrible grey weather we're having.
You did an amazing job with that maxi waistcoat you made. In less tricky to match fabrics, you'd sell loads at next year's festivals 🙂
Thanks so much, Annie! You're right about wearing colour to brighten the gloom. Friday was so bad it was full-on psychedelic! I really enjoyed making that waistcoat, pattern matching aside. I've got a few festival regulars who are on a waiting list for my handmade garments, I ought to get sewing for them! xxx
DeleteOooh, I love it when you share a bumper crop of outfits! Such beauties here! I really do like that black Dilli grey dress- it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI'm dead chuffed with my latest vintage purchase- a sheepskin coat. I have been eyeing it up for a year and after regretting not buying some items in T2 in Belgium last week, I decided to get rid of my cross feelings by buying the coat! Very glad I did- it arrived today and is fab! I like that green waistcoat with the fake shearling lining! That's beautiful!
If William wants to recline on the rare rug, who are we to deny him? Us mere humans. Pah!
xx
Thanks, Kezzie! I love an outfit post, it's such a shame there's so few bloggers that do this anymore. That particular Dilli Grey dress often gets overlooked, I always enjoy wearing it when I remember!
DeleteYour sheepskin coat will be a game changer, like my Afghans you'll be able to wear a summery dress underneath and be as warm as toast. I bet you're excited for the weather to change.
William appreciates the finer things in life, if I dare not put any of my velvet garments away the moment I've worn them he appears out of nowhere and makes himself a nest! xxx
The green velvet is absolutely stunning, and your hat is an excellent match.
ReplyDeleteThank you! That velvet kaftan was last year's birthday present to myself. I did make a mental note to wear a slip with it next time, I'd worn tights underneath and the bloody thing wouldn't stop swizzling around. I think Sheila calls it "velvet rage" ! xxx
DeleteAll the dresses are so pretty dear and that hat is fabulous. Wishing you a great day!
ReplyDeleteRampdiary
Thanks Jyoti and the same to you! x
DeleteI love the little absinthe pot with William as the cover star. :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it gorgeous? X
DeleteWhat a busy and fun week you've had. I love all yout outfits. I'm going to have a sticky-nose at your Vinted profile. X
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jess! xxx
DeleteAnd here I'm feeling bad for being behind on comments - don't worry about it, Vix! We're out here living life! Love all your outfits, of course - that psychedelic number has festival written all over it. Oh, William, you look so cuddly, but I hear you've been naughty! Love that tin of lip balm - I would have bought that too!
ReplyDeleteHello Sheila! Always lovely to hear from you! xxx
DeleteYea! I am finally able to catch up and see and read your blog! Been away for so long, been so involved in politics and trying to be positive that our America would do a big turn around and get back to the America we have a!ways known.........and Yahoo, I have been waking up with a smile!!
ReplyDeleteLovely to hear from you after so long, Chrystal! I can't say that I share your optimism with American politics but I'm glad you're happy. xxx
