It didn't take us long to fill that empty space, did it?
Lockdown or not, my daily beauty routine is the same as any normal day.
I wash my face with Himalaya soap (India's leading beauty brand, I stock up when I'm there) and apply Superdrug's Vitamin E Radiance Moisture Cream. I've had my eyebrows tattooed twice since 2005 but they've faded over the years so I use Barry M's brow kit - it's three years old and still going strong. Next is Barry M's Bold waterproof eyeliner and then Feature Length mascara in black (also by Barry M). I love this mascara so much that I've not used false eyelashes since December! Sleek's creme blusher in Crimson has been discontinued so I buy it from eBay. Maybelline's SuperStay Matte Ink is probably the best lip colour I've ever used, it really does stay put (I wore it to cross the desert, slept in it and still woke up with it intact) - my current favourite is "Ruler" which I buy from an eBay seller for half the retail price although the brilliant orange "Heroine" is my go-to India lippie. When the day's done, I remove my eye make-up and lipstick with Nivea eye make-up remover, wash my face with Superdrug's Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser and moisturise with good, old fashioned Nivea in a tin (something else I buy in India, it's less than a quid).
Wednesday's first job was to sand down the flagpole and repaint the bits that someone who shall remain nameless had decided to pick up wearing his gardening gloves when the varnish was still tacky!
Spot the cat. By mid-morning, the heat had finally returned and the felines sought shade.
On opening the greenhouse we were thrilled to discover that the cucumbers and gherkins had sprung into life.
Jon filled the gaps in the flagstones where the wood store had been with gravel,
And planted some kidney weed seed, a tortoise delicacy apparently.
After our lunchtime noodles, I sat in the sunshine and cut up some fabric from my stash ready for my next patchwork project.
Thanks for that, Frank!
We've had a few mirrors scattered around the garden for years, but decided that they'd be better grouped together, so Jon set to work drilling holes and swapping the wire hangers to something more stable. Not sure what was going on with this photo, but I'm liking the effect!
After a walk around the block, we emptied the household bins into the wheelie bins, leaving messages of support for the bin crew.
For tea Jon made pizza using a no yeast pizza dough:
Serves 2
350g Plain Flour
2 3/4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Oil
170ml Water
Toppings of your choice (in our case pesto, gherkins, tomatoes, peppers, onions and grated cheese)
- Heat the over to 200°C/Gas 6
- Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl, add the oil and water and mix until it forms a ball. If stiff, add more water, it should be soft but not sticky.
- Knead on a floured surface for 3 - 4 minutes. Roll into 2 balls, then flatten out.
- Add toppings and bake each on a baking sheet for 15 minutes.
As it was Wednesday we had a few rum and colas and watched the Channel Four series' My Grandparents' War on catch-up. We'd previously watched the episode with Mark Rylance and last night it was the turn of Helena Bonham-Carter, Carey Mulligan and Kristen Scott Thomas.
Thursday (day 27) started with the usual Wii Fit and fruit and yoghurt breakfast then we watched with tears in our eyes as 99-year-old Captain Tom Moore completed the 100th lap of his garden, raising over £13million for the NHS. What a truly inspirational man. After seeing Frank decimating the catmint in the garden earlier I ordered a new plant from an online nursery and cut up the remainder of my fabric for my future patchworking project (which I'm saving for a rainy day).
I watered the pot plants and discovered that the cress I'd sewn in the cola bottle planter on Saturday had sprouted. I'm looking forward to egg and cress sandwiches very soon.
The postman arrived with a parcel from Liz containing some seeds and a mask she'd made me from the offcuts of my Treetops dress I was wearing (HERE).
I planted some of the kohl rabi in Liz's parcel along with some exotic salad leaves and more aubergine as the last batch had rotted. I knew the plastic packaging from the blueberries and grapes would come in handy. And don't worry, I haven't started boozing in the heat of the day, those vintage plastic cocktail stirrers are perfect for plant labels!
These composite stepping stones have been in Stonecroft's garden since my Grandparents lived here. At one point they ran across the lawn but we moved them to this bed about ten years ago. Frank struggles to cross the gravel so we thought we'd reposition a few to make his journey easier.
And as a barefoot gardener, I'm also happy, I don't need to put my shoes on to cross over to the garden now!
This 1960s barkcloth Hawaiian maxi is one of my festival staples, rather than hide it away till next year I'm bloody wearing it!
I sat in the sun and read a few more chapters of my marvellously atmospheric Scandi Noir,
Once he'd done the donkey work I grabbed my trowel and gave him a hand uprooting the weeds that grow between the slabs. The soil is full of rubble so tomorrow he'll rake it through and remove the worst of the debris. Hopefully, this will become another veg bed.
Today's buried treasure was the spout of a teapot, possibly some red glazed stoneware made down the road in The Potteries.
When I showed you the apple tree a fortnight ago there were a couple of green shoots, now there are the beginnings of blossom. Spring really is upon us.
After our frittata and salad, we'll be paying tribute to our wonderful key workers. The saucepan is out!
How's lockdown going with you? What have you been up to?
Stay safe & see you soon!
As I am quite busy working form home, I have not put much into home improvement. We hope after getting snow this past weekend, to spend most of the weekend outside, raking and turning a bit of soil to mark where the garden will go next month.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that! As we have no emplyment at the moment we're reiventing ourselves! xxx
DeleteLockdown is being made a whole lot easier for us by the glorious weather. Hopefully it’ll hold out for the next 3 weeks! I’ve nearly finished knitting my cardi and digging my allotment over. Looking forward to getting some planting done and will probably knit Rod a pair of socks next as they’re quick (and I might have quite a lot of sock wool in my stash!😳)
ReplyDeleteI love a Scandi Noir book as much as a Scandi tv series but have decided to reread the Harry Potter books during lockdown for a bit of escapism!
Funnily enough I’ve just finished watching My Grandparents war. I found it very interesting. Have yet to start watching Twin.....am a bit rubbish watching tv when things are actually on...but I have just started Wisting. It’s got me hooked!
Keep well and stay safe xx
I hope the weather continues just like this for three more weeks, don't the days fly?
DeleteI might have to put an order in for a pair of socks, Jon's worn his last pair out and they're beyond darning.
Really enjoyed My Grandparents War, it helped that they're all celebrities I like (and have heard of). I'm a bit like you, I rarely watch anything when I'm supposed to! Wisting was really good, I'm loving Twin, too. I need to see if there's anything new on Walter Presents.
Stay safe and healthy, Andrea! xxx
Let me know the length of Jon’s feet in cm & his favourite colour & I’ll see what I can do😉xx
DeleteI'll look out the tape measure and message you tomorrow! You are fab! xxx
DeleteThe gathering of mirrors is a great idea, and yes, that picture has an angelic effect! I planted the peas, such satisfaction they are surviving after 2 nights in the ground. I have started to read a little again every night, as with my appetite the want to read went away for a bit but is now back.
ReplyDeleteThe cat tried to ghet into one this morning, silly creature. They're great for adding a bit of extra light and even better when they start "foxing", I love a distressed mirror.
DeleteI'm glad your appetite for reading is starting to return, reading is such a good way to unwind. xxx
Spot the cat..I thought his name was Stephen..! :).
ReplyDeleteI bet they love it out in the garden, being back
to nature, all that hunting..and..sleeping..! :)
Looking more colourful every day..and little things
sprouting up, it's amazing how quickly everything
grows from one day to the next..! :).
I'm popping out tomorrow, it'll be the third time
in four weeks, just for a few groceries, and just
into town to Morrisons, as l usually shop at Lidl
on a Sunday..but..l'm o.k. for my continental things!
Just bread, eggs, lemons, and what ever is going
cheep..no not chicks..! ;).
And..Yes! I saw Tom Moore finish his 100th lap at 8.30
this morning..amazing feat..And, he said he wanted to
raise just £1,000 to begin with..Bless him..and he'll
be 100 on 30th of April..!
I watched The Repair Shop last night..amazing program..
I have now progressed from a box of tissues while watching
it to a roll of kitchen towel..as it's bigger and more
absorbent..it's a lovely program! :o).
Well..There it is..as Michael Jackson would say..l'm
getting the mystery year right on a local radio station,
The Breeze..from Mon~Frid..That's one thing l do know
a lot about..Music..but mostly Soul music of course..! :).
So remember..
"Life is like cooking..all the ingredients are, you just
hope it all comes out o.k.". Stay safe! Stay Happy! :o).
😼 🐾🐾 😼 🐾🐾 😼 🐾🐾 😼 🐾🐾 😼 🐾🐾 😼 🐾🐾
Hehe! Jon's got Spot The Dog upstairs, his pyjama case from when he was a little boy.
DeleteI've suggested he takes it to The Repair Shop as he's in a terrible state.
Captain Tom is such an inspiration, isn't he? So wonderful to have some heart-warming news in such dark days.
Good luck with Morrisons, Willie! Jon popped to the Co-op today and managed to get baked beans. We'll be dining in style this weekend. xxx
Just announced on BBC Breakfast..
DeleteCapt Tom has reached £17,000,000..
Amazing! God Bless Him..! :o).
Update! Update! Capt Tom has topped
Delete£21 million..AND..has made a record
with Michael Ball..his favourite
singer..
Here's the link if anyone would like
to listen to it..and it could be
number one on his 100th birthday on
the 30th of this month..of course it
will be..Bless!x
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdjMkkPf3h4
I keep checking Captain Tom's total, it's become a new obsession!
DeleteThanks for the link, Willie! xxx
over several days we have tried to donate to Captain Tom Moore and each time the JustGiving page crashes! I want him to get a Knighthood - he is amazing and what a handsome man he was in his younger days too! Mirrors around the garden are supposed to attract fairies - hope you get some :) I took your advice and contacted a local garden centre, they are inundated with orders but did acknowledge that they will get back to us so we may be lucky and get some gardening stuff.. in the meantime, I can virtual garden over at your place! the joys of blogland. Keep safe xxx
ReplyDeleteThey have said that the website keeps crashing. I donated when I saw Captain Tom on BBC Breakfast last friday when he's just smashed £5000. It took me ages to walk again after my hip replacement and he's got 60 years on me. He was a handsome chap (and very brave, too - he fought in some horrible battles when he was posted in India and Burma). If he doesn't get a knighthood, there's no justice in the world.
DeleteI'm glad you've had some success with the garden centre. Fingers crossed they come good.
Fairies? How exciting! xxxx
Synchronized posting again! And my post also has a garden mirror, although I definitely prefer your wall of mirrors. That photo is so atmospheric! The things we do for our cats, eh? And what do we get in return? Exactly! Jon's pizza looks delicious. I also love seeing your beauty routine, which for me too remains the same during lockdown. I sometimes skip mascara, though. Lovely to see you in clogs again, and your Hawaiian maxi is too fabulous to be hidden away until next year. Jos's daughter just called to say she is going to make us both a face mask, asking me whether I'd prefer a plain one or one with a retro print. Silly question! I saw Captain Tom on Facebook, isn't he amazing? xxx
ReplyDeleteI love it when we cross-post, shows that we're on the same wavelength.
DeleteWe are slaves to those cats of ours, aren't we?
I'm surprised Jos's lovely daughter even had to ask what kind of mask you wanted! What a kind thing to do though.
Captain Tom is just amazing, he's raised over £21million now, more than any other individual ever in the history of fundraising! xxx
I sincerely hope you won't have a monged tortoise!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is blooming like crazy - how fabulous to see all the green shoots and things sprouting. It's so satisfying and I'm quite excited by it all - and it's not even my garden!! I forget to say what a brilliant job you did on your garden bench.
The paving stones are lovely and I bet Frank appreciates them; I'm a barefoot person too - kick the shoes off at the first opportunity - the downside is very hard skin on my heels...
Great idea to group the mirrors together - did you realise you had a flying saucer behind you?
The patchwork looks lovely and look forward to seeing what you do with it.
My make up/cleansing routine hasn't changed either. I use the Vit E face wash and used Nivea in the blue tin for years and years. I often get sample sizes of quite expensive face creams at the foodbank (people donate them)but I still find that Aldi's serum and Caviar night cream are the best; and I do like Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference day moisturiser. I buy a couple of jars everytime I go to Ireland; it's always on a special offer on the ferry.
Take care
xxx
He'll be keeping our monged cat company! You want to see Frank's eyes after he's been rolling around in the cat mint, he's hilarious!
DeleteI've just spent 20 minutes with my Scholl Velvet Smooth gadget, my heels are an absolute disgrace before I owned one. I've been known to spend almost the entire five weeks in India barefoot when I just used to stay in Goa!
I've heard great things about both the Aldi skincare - sadly Walsall doesn't have a branch - and the Elizabeth Arden moisturiser. They must work, your skin is gorgeous! xxx
Yea for Captain Tom! but you know who else is an inspiration in these uncertain times - you! As I said the other day your posts are so motivating and are a nice spot in the day to unwind and see what you have been up to. Love those red clogs! Funny I was just thinking I wonder if you will do a beauty routine post and here it is today. Good for you. Keep safe and wellx
ReplyDeleteThat's such a kind thing to say, thank you so much!
DeleteThe clogs are Lotta from Stockholm, they're absurdly comfy, perfect for pottering around.
Much love to you! xxxx
Ah, Frank, so helpful. Loving your red clogs and your bright red toes, and what a fab dress that is too! I noticed that your scissors have the ribbon with "Vix" on them - does Jon try to steal them? Lol. That pizza looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThe stepping stones look like slices of a big tree - is that a faux look, or are they actually old tree? You say "composite" which means cement or resin to me...but they're of your grandparents' era? Either way, I love them - I like being barefoot on grass too.
I braved the waterfront for my Mental Health Walk today, then held my breath and grocery shopped - lugging my 40-50lbs home in bags and a backpack...I need a nap! But I think I might set up a reading area on my deck...You're inspiring me, Vix!
Well spotted, Sheila! My dressmaking scissors are precious, Jon would be cutting up all manner of non-fabric stuff if he dared get his paws on them!
DeleteThose stepping stones are a mix of stone and concrete, composite was a bit of a thing in the 70s, which I think was around the same time as my Grandparents' bought them. The can look a bit naff but the moss that's grown on them over the years makes them look a bit more authentic.
You deserve a nap aftre that epic walk/essentials run! xxx
You will be able to go to the Antiques Road Show with your treasures-and I love your enchanted garden-it's beautiful x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Flis! xxx
DeletePS - I noticed so many bluebells here in gardens and yards, and thought of you. I looked them up and they are Spanish bluebells, likely brought here to Ye Olde Victoria (we have an image of being very English - it's a touristy thing) back in early settlement days (1870s+) by English immigrants. My mom's family is from England - Burton-on-Trent - and my dad's family is from Staithes.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting about the Spanish bluebells. We normally get both in our garden, I shall have to investigate once I'm dressed and eport back.
DeleteBurton-on-Trent is a half-hour drive away, we often go there as the charity shops are pretty good. I met Curtise there a few years ago: https://vintagevixon.blogspot.com/2014/11/only-here-for-beer-adventures-in-burton.html
Ah, spring shoot green! You're seeing success in so many areas! My big tub of French lettuces is peeking out -- and since snow is in tonight's forecast, a tray will cover them at sunset. Still waiting for the delivery of my seed packets, alas. I chose to buy local and the little shop is apparently overwhelmed with orders for Victory Gardens.
ReplyDeleteThe mask made from the fabric of your dress might be the basis for a new fashion, Vix: matching masks for frocks? (Back in the 30s, shop girls matched their hat band trim with their scarves and cuffs on gauntlets. Polka dots were the trend!)
French lettuces - they sound rather fancy! I hope they survived the snow.
DeleteThat would be great, wouldn't it? A range of facemasks to match our dresses? OUr governemnt are still maintaining that they're not necessary but at least I'm ready when they invariably change their mind! xxx
Morning Vix. This is going to be a long response, sorry! You mentioned in a previous post that you were planting aubergines and I said I'd get back to you with a recipe, but completely forgot. Here's a simple one to start with (BTW I have a lot more, they're just a bit more complicated, if you're interested).
ReplyDeleteCAPONATA
INGREDIENTS:
Olive oil
1 onion
4 garlic cloves
1 diced aubergine (aim for 2cm pieces)
1 stalk diced celery
1-2 diced zucchini
2 diced capsicums
Mushrooms
1 can cherry tomatoes
Basil
2 tbls sultanas
1 tsp sugar
Chilli
Salt/pepper
METHOD:
Salt eggplant first. Leave to sit 1 hr.
Rinse off salt, pat dry with absorbent paper.
In a large frypan place oil, onion and celery. Fry a little.
Add augergine, fry 3-5 mins.
Add all other ingredients, except balsamic vinegar and basil leaves.
Add balsamic vinegar and basil leaves at last 1-2 mins of cooking.
Cook for anywhere between 20-40 mins depending on whether you like your veges firm or mushy.
Serve hot or at room temperature.
* Note: We usually serve it alongside steak or chicken, however, my favourite way of eating it is tossed through cooked barley (with a dollop of yogurt on top), or you can try with pasta (with lashings of shaved cheese on top) or on toasted cheesy bread.
Now back to your post, loved reading about your facial routine. Good old Nivea, works every time. I'm turning 53 this year and I've been using Oil of Ulay moisturiser since I was about 20. Last Xmas my kids bought me some Clarins skincare creams. Yes, luxurious, but I'm so, so happy!
Adore your red clogs. And all those lovely mirrors in the garden. They really do get gorgeous as they weather. Love your summery hawaiian maxi too.
We saw Cpt. Tom Moore on the morning news doing his 100 laps. What a superstar! Got a long round of applause in this house and a few tears.
Yes! Great recipe..I'm from Sicily..and it's
Deletea traditional dish from there..
“Caponata” derives from “Capone”, name with
which in some areas of Sicily it’s called the
“Lampuga”, a precious fish once eaten only by
the aristocracy, seasoned with the bittersweet
sauce Tipic of the Caponata..People who couldn’t
afford this expensive fish, replaced it with the
cheaper aubergines...
And it's made a bit different in say..Messina,
Palermo, Catania..etc..
And..l enjoy mine with pasta..con Parmigiano...! :).
Aubergine is an English name..or Eggplant..but back
home it's better known as Melanzani..! :0.
I read all the 'Inspector Montalbano' books last summer (amongst my favourite books of all time, and I have been reading for many, many years) and am just about to watch the t.v. series. I shall make some caponata to eat!
DeleteThanks you so much, Suzy! I was salivating reading that recipe. I hope those aubergine seeds shoot into life soon, I'll be dreaming of Caponata for months!
DeleteWe're the same age then (I'm 54 in December), you've got gorgeous skin.
I keep browsing the clog website to see which colour I need in my life next..as if I haven't got enough! xxx
Hello, Julia! Aren't the Montalbano books wonderful? The series really does capture the spirit and stay true to the stories. Hopefully you'll love it. xxx
DeleteI love mirrors in the garden! Well, I can't find the facial serum I get at the Dollar Store. They show it on their website but are not shipping during the pandemic in order to have enough stock for their stores. When that policy expires, I'm going to buy a case of it!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to see Captain Moore finish his laps around his garden, especially all the recognition at the end. It is inspiring he raised so much money and a testament to the generosity of your population. Right now, I'm watching news stories of people protesting confinement and putting others at risk. :-(
That's so annoying not to be able to get your regular product. I just looked at a well-known British drugstore's website as I was running low of a couple of items and wanted to support them as they're paying their employees their regular pay throughout the pandemic regardless if they're at work or not and the things I want are all click and collect, I'd really rather not have to go into the town centre if I can help it! xxx
DeletePS I'm horrified by those Americans protesting on the streets, what the hell is the matter with people? xxx
Very simple and impressive skin care you have. I love Nivea, and Astral, and Ponds Cold Cream.... they worked "then" and they still work.
ReplyDeleteThere's a good reason why those old brands are still around. Indian women always have great skin and I'm always amazed to find brands I haven't seen since my childhood still on the chemist's shelves. I can't resist stocking up if only for nostalgia's sake. xxx
DeleteI’m going to try that Feature Length mascara, as soon as I can get to a shop.
ReplyDeleteI had to chuckle at the flagpole mishap, I know someone else who would do something very similar in my household (eye roll emoji).
It’s so exciting to find something in the greenhouse has sprung to life over night.
My cats always sit on the thing I’m working on too, mostly my keyboard, which makes work a little difficult.
The wall of mirrors looks great, as does your pizza. I’ll make a note of that pizza base recipe - thanks.
xx
The Barry M website's fab - they have lots of flash sales, too. Might be a nice lockdown treat!
DeleteI'm off to investigate what's going on in the greenhouse in a bit, it was too cold and wet yesterday to brave it! xxx
I also have a tendency for barefoot gardening and should really get some stepping stones for the gravelled area in order to make it easier on my feet.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with cats and their ability to sleep in the most inconvenient places. Mog usually lays right across a stripped bed just when I need to remake it.
The pizza looks delicious and I'm looking forward to trying the recipe now that I have a working oven once again. X
Did you read Beate's comment about walking on gravel being therapy? I'd still recommend a few stepping stones though, or maybe a few slices from a log if you've got a chainsaw and a woodpile handy! xxx
DeletePS We really enjoyed that pizza. Jon's tracked some yeast down on eBay now.
The stepping stones to your seat look lovely, what a perfect place to sit and while away some time with a good book.
ReplyDeleteWhilst you are making your house ever more beautiful we have the more mundane problem of fixing a leaking toilet cistern, hey ho at least we have the time to do it.
Captain Tom is a real inspiration isnt he. Last night's news brought a few tears in this house, some very sad things but he is such an amazing person.
Have you seen Professor T on Walter presents? It's a Belgian TV series and a bit different, we loved it and I know you like subtitles too! I might have to get your current book, I do love a bit of atmospheric Scandi noir. xxx
Fixing things like a leaking toilet system aren't the most inspiring ways to spend lockdown but it is really rewarding to watch a tuturial on YouTube and sort it out yourself, isn't it?
DeleteCaptian Tom is wonderful. Have you seen that he's No.1 in the download charts now?
I have seen Professor T, such a quirky series! xxx
your newest patchwork projekt will turn out fabulous - well chosen patterns and colors! and the big help of a cat!
ReplyDeletethe step stones look good in that gravel - but walking (carefully!) on the gravel is a therapy for all with problems of the legs, hips or back. it train up all the tiny muscles we usually not use but hold us together.....
your garden and weather are almost a month more into spring then ours. love to see all the sprouting - and the new veg bed!
gorgeous idea to adorne the wall with mirrors - will steal it for the summer salon :-D
oh - and many thanks for the pizza doug recipe!
xxxxx
I was worried that my patchwork might be a bit boring as I'm down to my last few pices of fabric, but it looks quite good now I'm sewn it all togethe.
DeleteI like the idea of gravel for therapy, I might have to incorporate it into my lockdown excercise regime. xxx
Never thought to buy makeup from Ebay...will be investigating. I love Helena Bonham-Carter especially since she started to take on more roles outside of the period drama genre. She came to the big London dollshouse show a few years ago and my husband saw her. Was gutted it was the day I wasn't up there working with him...her Mum is a miniatures collector and they were having a day out together! Arilx
ReplyDeleteEbay's great for make-up and a great place to look for those elusive products you can no longer get.
DeleteHow interesting about Helena Bonham-Carter being a dolls house fan, she really is one of our gang! xxx
So exciting to see everything springing to life in the garden. Mine is under tarps at the moment as we just had half a foot of snow, but it will be back to heat this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what those scraps become.
Half a foot of snow? You really need some Spring weather now.
DeleteJon's about to risk life and limb by opening the door to his music room so I can take a photo of the patchwork project. xxx
I love those Maybelline lipsticks, I think I have 4 different pink ones. They really do stay put which is great for me as I'm a lazy make up wearer!
ReplyDeleteThey're so good, aren't they? In normal times I test the colours in Superdrug and then go home and hunt them down on eBay. xxx
DeleteHi there, love your beauty routine, simple but obviously effective. You have beautiful porcelain skin. My sister has always used Johnson's Baby Lotion and also has beautiful skin. The garden is looking wonderful and lush! Love the mirrors.
ReplyDeleteHave to dash, it's a neighbours birthday, we're not allowed to go out into the street but we can take the dog for a quick walk so all of us dog-owners have decided to go down together quickly with our face masks on, of course, and sing Happy Birthday, before the police arrive and fine us 600€ each!!
XX
What a lovely thing to do, marking your neighbour's birthday with a bit of safe-distance singing, hop you managed it without incuring a fine. xxx
DeleteI'm envious of your Spring-like weather and green blooms. It's still cold here and we even had snow a few times this week. Your garden is going to be magnificent by the time we are able to go out again!
ReplyDeleteCaptain Tom is certainly inspiring and I'm glad so many people donated funds.
We've been really lucky with our lockdown weather, it's been unsaesaonably warm and sunny for most of the month, thank goodness. Sunshine really helps me stay motivated! xxx
DeleteI've started working from home and the past week has been a great learning curve, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking good. My sunflowers are sprouting and I'm so excited about that. In fact, I'm going to move them from their pots into the garden now. X
Exciting news about the sunflowers! I'm glad you're able to work from home and stay safe. xxx
DeleteHow lovely to see all your plants and seeds bursting into life. I should probably try kohl rabi again one day, my mother always used to grow it and I used to hate it as a kid! Somehow it has been easier to be on lock down with gorgeous weather.
ReplyDeleteIt's very exciting! The blurb on the packet says that kohl rabi can be sliced and fried in olive oil as an alternative to chips - Jon's interested now! xxx
DeleteThe mirrors are so cool! I am loving them!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled every time something germinates! The garden and growing is definitely my highlight of being at home! Today, I noticed my rocket is finally germinating and my peppers have too! Rotten Climbing beans are sulking in the compost though as are the Pattypan squashes. Meanies!!!
Ooh, might give that Pizza recipe a go!
How kind to lay the stones so that the tortoise has an easier path- so lovely!x
Gah! I hate it when things don't shoot up, never sure when to give up on them and plant more or wait. xxx
DeleteThat maxi is gorgeous. Seeing you barefoot in that fab dress makes me feel like the summer has arrived. :) I haven't been up to much, it's been mostly work.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ivana! I imagine work is so busy at the moment, you should just relax. xx
DeleteGood to see Frank has been helpful. Your garden is looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteHe's of great help, cats are good like that! x
DeleteI love Maybelline lippy! I used their superstay ink, the liquid one that you wait to dry. Now I love the crayon version, even easier. If you haven't tried it I really recommend it.
ReplyDeleteI was looking for a pizza dough recipe, will try that one, thanks.
Loving the arty photo of you in front of the mirrors.
Xx
Ooooh! Thanks for that Maybelline tip, I might have a look on eBay and see if I can find one to try! xxx
Delete
