Charity Shop Gold - Vintage Emilio Pucci

Hmmmm...what was it I said about no more shopping this side of the Green Man? I take it all back. I had to pop into town for some safety pins and couldn't resist touring the chazzas on the way back.

Just when I didn't think I could top my Ossie Clark maxi from a fortnight ago along comes an Emilio Pucci jacket!

Turquoise cocktail ring (Miss Magpie) and bad ass lime green nail polish (Our Em)

I found it's twin on a swanky US vintage website HERE for the bargain price of $795. Much as I love a bit of vintage psychedelia I love to travel a whole lot more so this jacket will be making it's way to Kinky Melon's stock room after I've had my fun.

I'm not sure what's going on but despite a drunken night out (which may explain the fuzzy tone to these pictures, Jon's head still isn't quite right) I'm already packed, ready for an early getaway to Wales in the morning.

'scuse the headscarf, I managed to dye my forehead as well as my roots and no amount of nail polish remover seems to be able to shift it.
It's a rarity to have no stock to load so I'm taking full advantage and packing a bastard massive amount of clothing. It is the UK and our weather is a bit schizo to say the least. I've got to allow for torrential rain, plummeting temperatures, boiling hot sunshine, gale force winds, mud, trekking across fields, negotiating portaloos in the dead of night, all day drinking and dancing like a nutter.

Obviously there's also wellies, a waterproof mac, sandals, gloves (my hands get frozen gripping a pint late at night), a feather boa, over-the-knee rainbow socks, fake flowers, garlands and bands for my hair, an array of tights in neon colours, a parasol, a heap of jewellery, sunglasses, some knickers and an umbrella.

Jon reckons his car-booted 1970s tracksuit fits the bill for a weekend of hardcore festival-ing, I'm not so convinced myself.

Emilio Pucci cotton velvet jacket worn with 1960s Janice Wainwright for Simon Massey maxi, jumble sale scarf, Krista made pendant and orange suede platforms from rock star Helga
I'm off to Asda to buy my body weight in cider, fancy cheeses and olives.
Have a fantastic weekend (seems a bit odd saying that on a Wednesday) and see you next week!

  1. And... you look AMAZING, amor! Who finds PUCCI in a charity shop??? YOU, of course!! It's like the holy grail of second hand shopping.

Hope you have a fab weekend - so many fab festivals over there! Stay dry and warm and take pics if you remember. And definitely take some video of MC Jon Dogg showing his moves.

    Love you more than PUCCI!

  2. Oh good lord, your chazzas are amazing! Vintage velvet Pucci, that's an incredible piece, how can you bear to part with it? But you're right, if you get silly money for it (and I think you will) then it will go towards a great holiday. It's really beautiful though. You are the vintage label chazzin' QUEEN!
Love the Janice Wainwright dress on you, and doesn't it work brilliantly with the jacket? 1960s heaven on that heavenly body of yours, Vix!
Judging by your packing, you'll be the best dressed hippy at Green Man, so have the most wonderful time. Jon? Hmmm... not so much, but he looks hilarious! In a good way.
Enjoy, enjoy, see you when you get back, love! xxxxx

  8. That is a beautiful jacket. I went to the link, and the price for that one seems to be a big secret. What the Hell? They wanted me to join and sign in. Just post the prices, people!

Anyway, enjoy your weekend and hide that tracksuit from Jon.

  9. Who in Walsall is dropping Pucci and Ossie Clark off at charity shops? I'm always amazed at the quality of garments that you find. What a great boost for the travel fund.
The red and purple color blocking of that maxi is perfection! And it fits you perfectly, too.
Jon looks downright scary in that track suit. Do not let him out of the house like that.
Have fun at the Green Man!

  19. That jacket is incredible. Absolutely beautiful!! Really suits you, but understand your desire to travel beats that.
I truly was in my festival element, and definitely want to do more now. Which means I could even finally get to say hello in real life! :) xx

  20. What great finds! (your jacket and the tracksuit)

I laughed at the nail varnish to remove forehead hair dye - I thought I was the only one who did that :o It does work occasionally :)

Enjoy your weekend of festivalling and I know you're not in the country yet, but I thought I'd say it in advance - welcome to Wales!

    ReplyDelete
  21. This sounds revolting(!), but I meant to suggest fag ash for removing the dye.
I have had it used on me many moons ago, (don't ask!), and it was surprisingly successful.
And, like others have said, what is it with that website that it won't just show you the price? Miiiih!
    Z xx

  22. Just have an amazing weekend :) What a CS find :)

There was me happy with the £2 vintage kitchen stool I found today in a rival shop!!

  23. that's a f'ck'n' fabulous piece!!, Pucci and Saks Fifht Avenue!!, label porn!!
you look so pretty wearing it, but I can understand there're other priorities to consider!!
And your luggage seems really perfect, without forgetting 'fun factor': flowers and feathers are essentials!
wish you have a fabulous time!
    besos & festivality

  24. You are certainly chanelling some serious chazza'd labels there, Vix! What next I wonder, perhaps some Bill Gibb or more Biba? Me likely those lace-up boots that you're taking to Green Man, too. Have a great weekend xxx

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ooooo-weeee you guys are in for a good time, as are your readers who will be here eagerly waiting to hear all about the fun.

Love Jon's track suit. Great find! As was your amazing jacket. I don't blame you for putting it up for sale though 'cause travel does trump expensive clothes in my books too.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hope the weathers good and you have a great weekend. Well done on your great find, makes your day when something like that happens. Enjoy he cider, cheese and olives too x

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can't get over that tracksuit! It's hilarious! And of course the Pucci was another totally amazing find, you just keep uncovering them! It looks great on you, but it if it can go towards your trip to India then even better. You're packing some gorgeous things, you're a seasoned traveller now, hope the weekend is great! Want some olives now!
    Oooh god that tracksuit!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Holy Moly---a Pucci jacket? You do have an amazing thrift-dar! I once found a Pucci slip at a garage sale for .25, but that was years ago and I haven't run across any Pucci since.

    Have fun at the fest!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ha ha! That tracksuit! What a lark! But he actually does look good in it...I think it's his moves that swing it.

Pucci! Ozzy Clark! Biba! I'm going to have to refer you back to our trip to Welsh Wales and ask 'what is occuring?' The rest of us have to choose between George at Asda and Primarche. But I think you are doing the right thing to sell, sell, sell. Think of the bhajis. Enjoy the Green Man in all your finery. xxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  30. I cannot believe your find - Do people have no clue at all?? Never mind, all the better for Kinky Melon and for us to admire you wearing the golden piece.
I've got hunch Jon will make friends of an unknown kind in this outfit :)

    Enjoy! xo

    ReplyDelete
  31. You've certainly got your chazza mojo working miracles, two vintage holy grails in as many weeks, now that is what I call magic!
The jacket is fabulous and looks amazing on you but if you can raise mega bucks selling it then why the heck not. I know that's what I would do anyway cause I'd be too petrified to wear it just in case I ruined it.
Your festi wardrobe is sublime, I can't wait to see the pics of you rocking it.
Jon's tracksuit makes me think of the Swedish flag, I'm pretty sure my dad had one just like it back in the day. Incidentally Jon may not be far wrong as tracksuits seem to be all the rage at the mo, they have been the first thing to fly off the rail at the car boot sales we've done recently...strange but true!
Have a good one my dear...xXx

  32. OMG who is donating that sort of stuff to charity shops round there?!?! Amazing find.

  35. What an awesome jacket and score at that. I'd certainly be doing what you're doing and having some with it and sending it to the stock room, you'd be crazy not to.

You selection of festival clothes is glorious. I remember my mum having long rainbow striped socks when I was about three years old. Oh how I'd love to nab a pair.

I do like Jon's track suit though and his pose made me laugh out loud.

Have a wonderful time and take care. X

  36. My husband who loves the hippie/psych period, but who don't know much about designers etc always meantion the pattern when I Watch Pictures of Pucci. So Puccie and you - true match!

  37. You look amazing Vix, Jon looks well hard! lol! Caddy x

    ReplyDelete
  38. WOW! The Pucci piece is glorious! But I'm with you; I typically will sell off the more expensive vintage for travel money.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jon in that track suit has to be one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time ;-) Hope he does take it along to Wales!
Score on the Pucci jacket - it looks made for you, but then again, a delicious Goan tan suits you even better, so enjoy it for a while but enjoy the proceeds from its sale even more :-)

  41. FECK ME! Your bargain beacon is going off hysterically! What a great find!
Woot, another splendid festival; glad to see that darling pink and white swimsuit in there! May the Good Weather Goddess make it a hummer!
I'm impressed at how accidentally organised you are!You might need a drinkie to get over it!
Jon looks a treat! G has a similar top in beige with brown stripes,I'm always hoping to find the bottoms that match! Rock it OUT, Jon boy!!!
Drive safe, sell hard and party ON, darling!

  42. Wow what a jacket - lush!!! :D

    Have a great trip xx

    ReplyDelete
  43. I nearly keeled over when I saw that unbelievably gorgeous Pucci jacket - that must be worth a fortune Vix!! Speaking of vintage Ossie Clark I scored some on the weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Only you can find Pucci in a charity shop! Here in London our shops are full of Primark cast offs *sob sob* :(

PS just a tip I read, smear your forehead with Vaseline before dying your hair, it apparently helps stop the staining.

    Have an amazing weekend! xx

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh my that jacket is just fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It seems that luck just follows you everywhere! An Ossie Clark and a Pucci? I wish fate liked me that much! I really love that pink hat in your collection. I'd love it for myself! xx

    ReplyDelete
  47. That's such a gorgeous jacket! Although I hear you about wanting to spend the money travelling instead. I've saved money to buy expensive items so many times and as soon as I had the money I decided to go someone or put it towards something that would give me more pleasure. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it before passing through though! xxx

    ReplyDelete
  48. I wanna put that jacket on a stick and lick it like a lollypop

    ReplyDelete
  49. Awesome work once again - I hope that jacket buys lots of plane tickets for you guys!

I have done the hair dye on the forehead/ears thing in my younger day, and my trick for removing it (works for fake tan too) is cream cleanser like you'd use on an enamel cooktop or bathtub.

    have a fab weekend!

PS. Jon looks hilarious (don't tell him I said that, or do, if it suits your agenda).

  50. My beautiful UK girl...you always look amazing but I want to say Jon is HOT!!! Woo what a sexy man!

  54. Jons track suit is brilliant. Saw a kids one the other day in red. How gorgeous is the jacket on you, but sometimes you just have to on sell.

    ReplyDelete
  55. OMG the fact that you are selling that divine jacket is testament to the fabulousity of what is already in your wardrobe!

    ReplyDelete
  56. You definitely do have the best charity shops Vix, what a find! I can totally understand you wanting to sell it on though, it sounds like it's going for stupid money and you'll always find more fabulousness. You'll always have these photos to remember it by. Love seeing all your outfits for the Green Man Festival too. If I ever get a lift instead of having to get the train to a holiday I always take advantage and pack tons of stuff, because I always have to ration myself on the train and I hate that. Jon looks fantastic in his tracky, you'll be the best looking couple there! xx

    ReplyDelete
  57. What a beaut Vix!!! Dont we just have the best chazza's in town, looking dappa!! Jon. Have fun at the festival guys and see you soon mmwwaahh xxxx

  60. Have an amazing hedonistic time in Wales, sweetie! I'm not convinced about Jon's weekend look either, but being a handsome fella he manages to pull it off more than any other man would, and as for your Pucci discovery WOW it is divine I adore the colours and patterns on you.
Thanks so much for your kind words about my Mermaid post and the poem, dear friend, it means a lot and has inspired me to write more yay!

  61. First Ossie, then Pucci - you are a magnet for Squee-worthy vintage lately! I'm headed to the Manhattan Vintage Show in October - I wonder how much a jacket like that would sell for there? I can understand wanting the money for a trip; it's just too bad it fits you so well and looks gorgeous, especially with that dress.

I wasn't sure whether to laugh at Jon in the tracksuit or congratulate him on his chutpah. If he feels good in it, more power to him! Have a great time at The Green Man - you have certainly covered all outfit and weather options with your packing.

  65. Me me me pretty please! I could die over all the Pucci I sold when I had my flea market biz, only kept a few nighties (which if they weren't so sheer or fit properly you would def see me wearing as maxis!) You really lucked out, when I think of the prices I sold at -- which at the time I thought were high but we're talking 20 years ago -- I just want to cry, I should have kept it all ): Okay Jon's tracksuit is cracking me up, he always looks so dapper, this is just... odd! Have a fab weekend! XXX

  66. What an amazing Pucci find, only you could uncover something like that. Jon looks hilarious in that trackie suit and love you in the headscarf...has the dye come off yet? Have a great weekend.

I like that it looks like a fancy rose window - beautiful print. You look lovely in it.

Whereas the 1970s tracksuit fits the bill for a weekend of hardcore festival-ing, I'm not so convinced by the Jesus sandals myself lol. Squelchy toes ewwwwww :)

    Have a wonderful time xx

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jesus wept for joy!!! What an absolutely amazing score Vix, I'm so, so glad the Pucci chose you as its latest owner, it's simply glorious! The colours, the pattern on the back - GAH! Thank god I have WAY too many jackets for the Brisbane climate, otherwise I would be stalking the shop, waiting for that baby to go up for sale. God I can even see me wearing it now ... **stop now**!!! At last you and Jon have a really relaxing weekend away ahead of you - I hope you get all the weather so hopefully we'll get to see you in every single one of those gorgeous pieces you're taking. xoxo

  88. A wonderful Pucci! What a find, and having your fun before selling is almost as good as keeping it! I found a similar jacket for next to nothing, but I haven't been able to give it up as yet.
