Today's outfit is almost the same as one I wore last week but, as the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just like my Mum, I've dressed like a Rolling Stones groupie most of my adult life, I can't see things changing any time soon.
Pia & Paula of Finland, 1970s cotton maxi (99p, eBay, 2008), Fun fur jacket (£7, closing down sale), 1960s cord wide-brimmed hat by Malyard of London W1 (gift from my friend Jools) |
Faced with a morning of eternal grey drizzle and no internet connection we took positive action & accomplished a couple of tasks, paid a visit Dad and shopped for stock for this weekend's vintage fair.
Armed and dangerous. Yes, I think there's quite enough bastard jewellery there.
What did we get?
Clockwise from top left: 1970s draught excluder (Any Brits growing up without central heating will remember these snakes with affection), Harris Tweed blazer, 1960s fun fur coat, St Michael cropped wool jacket, Ariella of New York 1970s disco dress, pure silk jumpsuit, Empire Made driving gloves, 1970s wide lapel wool blazer, 1970s DL Barron chiffon maxi dress, 1960s vinyl bag, Swears and Wells belted leather jacket
My Stones badges (thanks, Clare) must have brought good luck, I spotted this book published for their 40 year anniversary in 2002 and despite the Daily Fail endorsement I couldn't get to the charity shop counter fast enough to hand over my £2.50
Young Mick & Keef = Hours of pleasure for Vix
Phwoar, that's all I can say.
Hope your week got off to a great start. Mine just got better, Jon's making egg and chips for tea.
See you soon.
PS Check out Annie HERE rocking her Dollyrockers dress.

It definitely aint broke, that maxi is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnd on the lace top comment, great minds ;) xo
oooh I rather like the look of that black chiffon maxi .....did you hear the Stones interview on R4 last week? I think it was Wednesday evening at 7 so you could probably listen again...... fabulous!!x
ReplyDeleteOh vix, Everytime I look a a picture of you in a fur jacket I just have to get one,
ReplyDeleteI saw one in a charity shop on Saturday. I didn't try it on (as such to my aversion to charity shops)... But jules in a chazza?!?! Blinking hell!!!! :p
Maybe one day I will get over my chazza shop aversion and get a fur jacket just like you, I just hope it faux fur!!!
XO
Dearest Vix,
ReplyDeletemighty fine scores yet again, the purple jumpsuit looks fabulous & you can't go wrong with a sequin embellished frock in my opinion. I could do with the draught excluder right now, it's flipping freezing in our flat, gaps here, there and everywhere letting the outdoors dreichness in. I've renamed my office room the 'Wraysbury Room' after the lake (read:watery grave) that we did our open water diving in back in February, cause it's about the same temperature. I'm sitting here with double socks, woolly hat and a knitted Dr Who-esque scarf and I'm still shivering :(
Enjoy your tea.
Lot's of love,
Jennie...xXx
The outfit is too good to wear once... and draught excluders? Never heard of them, but I sure could use some of these lovely snakes for our house :) xo
ReplyDeleteYoung Keef, hell YES! I still have a little horn for Keef, despite the wear and tear he's suffered! Mick, however, never quite did it for me! I'd love a perve at that book.
ReplyDeleteOooo,I SO wish I was coming along to that fari!! You must have the BEST goodies on offer...in more ways than one! Oooer!
Love this maxi, such a fabularse print, and you are totally rocking that faux fur!You were BORN for faux fur, darling!!! Your Stones groupie look does it for me,every time!!
Love Helga xxxXXXxxx
That dress is a beauty! Mick and Keef would be fighting over you, love! I don't think that IS enough bastard jewellery actually, can't you fit some more on?
ReplyDeleteYou got a right old haul today, love the look of the frocks, and that silk jumpsuit is amazing!
The book looks great, don't drool on it too much, and enjoy your egg and chips!
PS. Annie looks fab in her Dollyrockers frock! xxxxx
Love the Stones, your groupie look and the badges. Mr TNMA is their no. 1 fan & still contemplating buying an over-priced ticket for the London gig. I just think it's a rip-off.
ReplyDeleteThat book looks full of fab pics - enjoy! xx
ReplyDeleteYour look is perfect! Far from being broke and looks like you made an epic score with that book whilst out shopping:)
ReplyDeleteBe careful not to smudge the ink on the photos of Keith and Mick with your "sticky fingers" (Ha, see what I did there...)
ReplyDeleteI am all aflutter over that black chiffon maxi and the disco dress - I wish I could shop at your booth at a vintage fair!
It may be perpetually grey on Britain for a while, but when there's blue faux fur, egg and chips, books to drool over, a purple silk jumpsuit in your stockpile, enough bastsatd jewellery to make Keef feel naked...who CARES!?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think will sell first this week?
Love this look, thinking man's crumpet you!
Lucy x
Your maxi is gorgeous. And I need a couple of those snakes here. Maybe I'll make one or two.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Yer a sight for sore eyes on this day of drizzle
ReplyDeleteOh Mick...you lovely young creature..
Egg n'chips? Now your talking, love.
Have a great week.

i remember that book! i never did buy it but it was so good. i love your dress, your faux fur, everything looks fab on you! i bet it was nice w/o the internet for a day. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you faced dark and drizzle with blue faux fur and a Scandinavian pop print skirt. I just stayed inside all day.
ReplyDeleteWho would give up a book of yummy pics of Mick and Keef? I'm glad it's found a deserving home with you.
Thanks for the tip on the East London market. A. and I were planning a trip to the Wm Morris House in Walthamstowe, so we check the market out as well. I'll let you know how it is.
egg and chips - yes please!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous and I'm so happy those badges went to a the perfect home. That book was a total bargain, looks like there's some rather gorgeously candid photos. Are you going to watch the doc on Tv next weekend? Can't believe what a haul you got! You two are the King and Queen of Walsall charity shops and jumble sales xxxxxxxx
You're beating the weather with your fabulous style! I did grow up without central heating, but we had homemade sausage style draught excluders. The Stones book looks fab - I'm always on the lookout for music related books, but it's usually whatever teeny-bopper was popular last year! I'll keep an eye out for the documentary that Claire mentioned x
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm so behind. I just can't keep up with all your frolicking and frockifying, Vix. Never fear, I shall savor every word and vision no matter how long it takes for me to get up to speed. For I have become a Vix groupie.
ReplyDeleteLove the Stones meself but can't afford £350 for a seat in the gods so I see The Counterfeit Stones instead. It's amazing Keef is still here when you think about what his body has endured over the years.
ReplyDeleteHave we seen this dress before ? can't remember, but it's sensational especially teamed with your new faux fur.
We've got the same doormat!
Are you keeping that fabulous violet jumpsuit for yourself??? It's stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteI always preferred the more dangerous Stones to the Beatles myself!!!
love the maxi and furcoat--and yes Mick and Keef would've been brawling in the streets for your affections!!

Love your new purchases especially the faux fur coat.
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous maxi! I love your finds - the driving gloves caught my eye! Love all those tweedy jackets too! Somewhere I saw a headline that Harris Tweed were almost going to the wall but tweed coming back into fashion actually saved it.
ReplyDeleteMm, egg and chips! Fried eggs I presume?! That hat is tres cute!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your great grandfather's jacket. How great that it fits you and it looks fanastic. Can't beat a bit of family history!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosemary
my fav rolling stones books are from the seventies. one i got from a market in london and the two others i -oooooooops- never gave back to my uncle. actually i never thought about that ....wow, i'm shocked about my habits.

ReplyDeleteAnd always loving all that bijouteries you sport with your usual Attitude!!

that pattern is out of this world. LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteYou are a rockstar, not a groupie, I think that you can be a great musician even without playing, I'll buy your records only judging them by the cover!!
ReplyDeleteThe Rolling Stones book is awesome, I love Mick and Keith, but Brian Jones is my favourite, I'd love to dress like him!
Have a wonderful week!!
Lots of Love
You look amazing as always and your finds blow my mind. No one will be walking away from your stall at the fair singing I can't get no satisfaction!
ReplyDeleteI always get a kick out of your sign about hippies! Love that floppy hat on you. I am very much a hat lady myself and that one looks like a beaut! xo
ReplyDeleteI really love your coat and accessories!
ReplyDeleteFollowing you on GFC and Bloglovin!
Kisses, Lucy:)
Ha, great minds think alike; I have that same Rolling Stones book! I totally love the way they looked when they lived in France( I wanted to grow up and be Anita Pallenberg) Great haul!
ReplyDeleteOoh LOVE the print on that fabularse bastard massive maxi! Your jewellery is divine as always but what a shame you don't have enough rings... oh well, perhaps you'll get some for xmas! I know how you love xmas!!!
ReplyDeleteThe books is splendid - those boys are definitely on my Must Fuck List for when I am time travelling.
Did I miss skype last night????? Love you more than Keef! Sarah xxx
I adore your hat as it beautifully frames your face. Your maxi is glorious and so is the background.
ReplyDeleteI adore your bastard jewellery. You know what I'd love to see - a video of you walking through town in your maxi dress. Next best thing to watching royalty...
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit...you're such a vintage bombshell! That Rolling Stones book is an awesome find! Xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful as ever. Did you know Victor played in a back up band with the Rollings, and met The Beatles, chat and all that, including photos and autograps, when they were just doing pubs???

You know my love for the Stones. Mick, such a cool and stylish guy. x
ReplyDeleteI think you make a fab Rolling Stones groupie, Vix xx
ReplyDeleteEgg and chips, one of my favourite meals ever, I can't think about anything else now! I love it when you find something you really love like that Rolling Stones book. I remember when I was a teenager I found Leonard Cohen's two novels in a charity shop and I was ecstatic, so much so I still remember it obviously. xx
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! and I love the pics of Mick :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think that you just roll out of bed every morning looking this fantastic! You are totally getting good use of this jacket, it makes me wanna snuggle with you! The Stones pins from Clare are the most perfect touch and you and Curtise always look so good in a floppy hat!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I had the BIGGEST crush on Mick and I still remember saving up my allowance and buying Tattoo You on cassette! I have always had a thing for them and Girls Girls Girls is one of my fav. albums of all time! You always find the best stuff Vix!
Taketomorrow...wildhorsescouldn'tkeepmeaway!
LotsofloveXOXOXO
The print on that maxi is AWESOME. I love it so bold and eye catching.
ReplyDeleteJeaz great finds Vix. My favorites are the 60s bag and the white fun fur coat.
I'm still smirking, thinking about that charity shop worker's comment regarding your jewellery!
ReplyDeleteI have serious bracelet and maxi envy. I love your style - always have, it is vintage Cher (she was was absolutely stunning in the 70's)
ReplyDeletewww.AhkaVintage.com
Nothing wrong with dressing like a Rolling Stones groupie. I love the coat. You always look fabulous in maxis.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't left a comment for a while Vix, but its great to see you in your glam vintage rockin' loveliness again. Loving that maxi too, especially for that pattern with the spray of white flowers. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat maxi is to die for, and I love all the jewellery/knuckle dusters! "Hippies use backdoor" sign made me laugh!
ReplyDelete"Bastard jewellery" oh gawd what glory!!! I just KNOW Keef would approve and one look at you, the whole band would be fighting to give you backstage passes and free grub 'n booze!! Bloody gorgeous maxi and jacket and I adore the badges - feckin' hell!!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWow, Vix, you manage to look both hot and huggable.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I puzzled over the draught excluder until I realized it was a snake under the door. You know, like Grandma used to make :P
Love that fur jacket you always look great in them x
ReplyDeleteLove that fur jacket you always look great in them x
ReplyDeleteKeith is completely fabulous as is your jacket!
ReplyDeleteI love that white coat! And again such a great finds. .
ReplyDeleteYour jewelry is so cool. I must wear mine more often. Everytime I see your and Helga's photo's I am thinking of it, but then I'll forget again. Love the ring on the left. :)
And I think the Rolling Stone's would be proud to have such a gorgeous groupie. :)
xx
