Being the useless blogger that I am my camera batteries died halfway through Damian Hirst's opening night so the only photo of me in my finery is this arty action shot. I could have posed in my frock today but after the weekend I've had the sight of me would probably give you nightmares.
This was what I did wear - a flouncy 1970s maxi dress (from the vintage fair a fortnight ago), a vintage fake fur (from a car boot sale) and some original leopard platforms (via eBay).
Here's a sneaky preview of some of Damien Hirst's work, on loan to the town for the next 12 months. Not everyone's thing but I was beside myself with excitement with finally seeing the infamous sheep in real life.
Walsall is in the running to host the 2015 Turner Prize, wish us luck.
After a couple of hours of knocking back free wine and doing the cultural thing we hot-footed it to the pub, drank more than we should have and ended up in the curry house.
What kind of an evil scout troupe organises a jumble at that time on a Saturday morning? Our local one, that's who!
Despite feeling a tad rough we scored a fair bit and thanks to yesterday's sunshine, it's all laundered, tagged and added to the pile, ready for next Saturday.
This is why I don't take many indoor outfit shots!
This was Saturday night's outfit. A '70s jumpsuit (from the divine Sarah Misfit), a beaded bag (from Thursday's boot sale), neon platforms (from a local boutique) and a Lamani gypsy coin pendant from India.
This was the outfit in action.
We had to limit the drinking as we needed to be up, on-line and with our wits about us by 9am this morning as Glastonbury 2013 tickets went on sale.
The website continually crashed and after an hour and a half of trying we were convinced that next year's Glasto wasn't going to happen. Thankfully our genius mate, Jon, managed to get a connection and snag some tickets before all 240,000 sold out in record time.
Bring on next June.
After all that excitement I'm a total wreck, I'm off to have a lie down and a perv over watch Damian Lewis in Homeland.
See you soon!
See you soon!
Oh vix, I'm just about to watch xtra factor!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do love your fur coat, lustng over it!!!
xo
Love your fur coat.
ReplyDeleteI find that 'pickled sheep' thing really horrible if I am honest I guess it makes me feel icky!
Well done on getting the Glastonbury tickets. xx
I'm so jealous of these festivals you go to! Lucky woman!
ReplyDeleteEven tho the 1st outfit pic is a bit blurry I can see you look amazing, love the yellow tones. xx
ReplyDeleteWow what a fun filled weekend! From art to frocks, I'm loving it all. And I'm so glad to hear you managed to get the Glasto tixs xxx
ReplyDeleteHa, love that clip of you getting your groove on, Vix!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mix of activities this weekend - art and culture, booze and curry, jumble sales, dancing, and preparation for business!
Love your yellow maxi and the jumpsuit, we know how fabulous you look in both of them so I can forgive the lack of outfit pics!
I think art should challenge and provoke a action, otherwise what's the point? We don't have to like it, but we should be able to think about why we feel as we do about it. How exciting to have the Damien Hirst exhibition in Walsall, and fingers crossed you get the Turner Prize in 2015.
Glastonbury next year? Hurray! xxxxxxxxx
Your weekend kinda looks like mine!
ReplyDeleteHow brillantly chaotic and colourful and crazy! AND you got the tickets!Thank goodness!
I'd like to get down and disco with you, baby!
Love Helga xxxXXXxxx
Lovw your dancing queen clip - you can't beat a nice bit of Ska to get everyone up and jiving around. Looks like you had an amazing weekend.
ReplyDeletelovely watching your outfit in action!, fabulous dress and great bijouterie (as usual)
ReplyDeleteGlad you've enjoyed a complete weekend, including some drinking, some jumble sale hunting, and some Glasto dreaming!, and some Homeland watching!
besos & fun
That's a pretty action-packed weekend! Well done to Jon for getting his hands on those coveted Glasto tickets :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fab weekend :) love both your outfits ...
ReplyDeletePhew, what a weekend, makes me feel quite tired just reading about it. I bet your outfit was as much admired as Damien Hirst's work. Surely no early JS starts could deter hardcore jumblers like yourselves ? Glad you got some bargains..and your Glasto tickets. x
ReplyDeletelove, love your outfits vix. so awesome you got tix for glasto. how fabulous. where do you get your energy? you need to bottle it and sell it asap! xo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend to me - some art, frocking up, curry, dancing and scoring festival tickets!! Love to see you grooving in the fab jumpsuit; there's very little opportunity to go dancing here so I have to shake my booty vicariously through you.
ReplyDeleteI don't really 'get' art. Whilst the sheep is pretty ingenius, I don't understand its concept bla bla bla. Haha, sadly art isn't my thing but I do love to look at it all the same. Very envious of your weekend as I spent most of mine tucked up in bed and failing to get Glasto tickets. Never mind! Glad I'm not the only one who has a bit of thing for Damian Lewis! ;) x
ReplyDeleteChrist Glasto tickets on sale already? I have a funny story to tell you about Damien Hirst but I might send it you via email!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab weekend.
ReplyDeleteCan't believe you managed to get the tickets.well done. What a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a fab weekend I loved the painted sign about people making connections we would never have dreamt of, so true I always get a little buzz thinking who could have worn that dress before and what there story might be and I bet you do too. I managed to score some fab berketex boots on saturday and when i googled berketex to see if they would pop up at all you did about 30 times haha have a great week Vix x
ReplyDeleteGeez, ya busy? Only you could wear yellow floral, leopard and fake fur and make it work. I would love to see the Hirst's exhibit, wonder if it will come here? That loud crash was me falling off my couch with laugther! 10 am sound pretty good, some crazy people around here open their yard sales at 6am!
ReplyDeletePS: I'll send you all the heat, if you send me some fall
Vix, i can't believe what you do in a day much less a weekend! Love the video clip of you partying with friends!
ReplyDeleteAwesome that you got tickets to Glastonbury. After I read your post, I had to go to YouTube and watch my one of my favorite David Bowie live performances of Heros from the 2006 Glastonbury festival. Here's the link:

Were you guys there? What a great vibe! And the summer festival photo of you and Jon is fab. :)

Linda
great way to kick start the Halloween season by going to Hurst's exhibition :) HOpe the human body parts are plastic and not real.

LOVE that last photo. You look so fabulous in it and the shadow actually makes it very cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, it sounds like you had a waaaaay better weekend than I did. Lol. ;)
I'm ready for a lie-down too after seeing all your weekend shenanigans!!! And done in such style! You KNOW I love your leopard platforms and oh god I'm so happy to see them here again and since you're coming in to the winter season, I hope to see much more of them! Sarah's gifted jumpsuit is an absolute treasure - like both of you - and your accessories are fecking gorge!!!!!! Congrats on getting Glasto tix - Glasto without Vix is unthinkable!!! God I hate it when people do jumbles early, except here in Brisbane where people seem to have this obsession with getting up and starting their mowers at the crack of dawn, jumbles ALWAYS start at 8am. GAH!!!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThat last pic is awesome. A bit artistique. And in the first photo you look so very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfits. Do you pre-paln outfits like that? I have my weeks outfits up on hangers but they do usually end up with changes.
I quite like you're artsy shot! I love the yellow frock too and I would have LOVED to have attended that exhibition with you.
ReplyDeleteI've dreamed about going to Glastonbury since I was a teenager - Rich does want a holiday in the UK in a couple of years to celebrate completing his masters degree - perhaps we'll have to plan it for June so we can go!
Not sure if my other comments worked,as on new pc but connection bad, hopefully you will have had them. Loving your dress, another great jumble sale and with a great clothes rack. Still following your blog even if comments don't make it on :)
ReplyDeleteBAA BAAA says the excited sheep!!
ReplyDeleteThis post has too much fabulousness in it!! First of all I really like all your outfits: the yellow maxi dress and the jumpsuit are the best!
Damien Hirst's exhibition seems great and full of his artworks, I thought it was just a little collection and not such a big retrospective!!
Have a great new week darling!!!
Love
Sounds like a brilliant weekend, I painted the lounge on Saturday and the dining room on Sunday, talk about watching paint dry lol. Jealous about the Hirst show, I would love that. We are hoping to go to Sunrise Celebration next year with the little guy, probably not as cool as Glastonbury, but more family friendly lol. And since I am a festival virgin it will break me in.

ReplyDeleteI'm loving all your dresses and well done for not piling on the layers yet.
Looks and sounds like you had an amazing weekend Vix. And very organised for next week too.
ReplyDeleteX x
Great little clip of you and your friends getting on down and boogy-ing! Love your yellow poppies dress being matched with the fur and leopard platties - a super outfit xxx
ReplyDeleteseriously - I'm never bothered by Glasto, but next year promises to be amazing - you lucky thing. I can't wait to come and see that exhibition. I saw the famous shark in 1997 at a YBA exhibiton at the RA (sorry for the poncey talk) - I loved it, he also did one with rotting meat and flies.
ReplyDeleteAnyway - back to you - your outfit is stunning, that yellow dress was a killer find. I love your platforms too! All that dancing looks like great fun and I fancy that curry right now! Saturday nights outfit is also gorgeous!
Phew, what a fab and fun weekend!! Looks like you scored heaps of good loot too, let me know if that red anodised 'apple' doesn't sell, I love them.xx.
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy weekend !
ReplyDeleteLove the action pic !!
Ermahgerd SO MUCH EXCITEMENT! I am quite disturbed by the pickled sheep (rrarrrhhk!!) - I love the action shot! and both outfits look fabularse, as always. Are you planning to send me that gorgeous foot stool with the flower? Why, thank you darling - it's gorgeous! SO HAPPY you got Glasto tickets, otherwise I would have killed myself and then put you out of your misery. Love you more than festivals! Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat post !
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures and articles!!
A blog like this should definitely be followed so here I am :)
Stop by mine when you have the time!!
Love,

I love both your night out outfits Vix and it's great to see you in action dancing about. Your weekend sounds great fun and you got Glastonbury tickets, yay! I know what you mean about indoor photo shoots, it's very difficult for me to find a tidy spot for a photo too. xx
ReplyDeleteHey Vix looks like you had much fun ! Oh and i really adore that Saturday night's outfit its amazing ! XX Tani
ReplyDeleteNothing beats you dancing, Vix! Though I do love the arty action shot, too. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so cold turkey about jumble sales and second hand buying, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Since we came back from England, nothing, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yey for Glasto! The Hurst exhibit looks really interesting, i've seen some of Hurts's work back when I was doing art in school and on our tips to trawl around London's art galleries. His work is certainly challenging and intriguing!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an exciting time. Plus, doing it in such style adds to the fun.
ReplyDeleteI am doing my HAPPY DANCE for you and Jon right now...Glastonbury, look out! This rules Vix! WOOT WOOT! Now I am just hearing all the stories you guys shared in my head.
ReplyDeleteThis art by Damian Hirst is friggin creepy awesome! The sheep is it stuffed, that is a trip! How could anyone pay any attention to anything with you wearing that gorgeous yellow dress? The one and only picture shows how beautiful you look! The pictures form the Curry House make me a lil sad because I wish I was with you! And I am trying to enlarge your stash for the next fair, dang look at all the stuff, I WANT IT ALL! Your second jumper is super sexy too. But I think your shoes are what really make me weak in the knees.
I love you sweetie!
XOXO
and miss you tons~
Krista
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThese pics are incredible and such cool stuff.
That fur coat is my fav.
Beautiful blog - beautiful you!
peace
Hi my dear!! well done for snaffling your Glastonbury tickets and fabulous pictures of the Damien Hirst exhibition too!! Have a good week ahead xx
ReplyDeleteI love the last outfit!
ReplyDeleteYay to the Glastonbury tix!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the video of you with your fab outfit in action!!
you scored some goodies at the jumble sale. Why can't we have good sales like that here instead of the craptastic ones???
The sheep is PICKLED??? Gross but cool in a freaky way!!!
Sounds like a brilliant weekend, I'm so happy for you that you got Glastonbury tickets xx
ReplyDeleteWow you got Glastonbury tickets - nice one! I hope Walsall gets the Turner Prize, I like the fact that it's not so London-centric anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou do live the most hippie happy life ever! Love those flowers in your hat, vix!!<3
ReplyDeleteShubhi's Revels!
The 'Your clothes go to Oxfam...' one made me smile, being on a blog about chazza shops and jumbles! Art from life and life from art!
ReplyDeleteI wish that viddy was longer- you are a delight in motion and still! I bet that floral frock, fun fur and leopard platforms were a work of art in themselves. Muahz!
ReplyDeleteboth dresses are glorious! Well done on getting Glasto tickets x
ReplyDeleteThe Damian Hirst exhibition sounds like fun although I have never much fancied the pickled sheep thing, beer and curry is much more my thing!Glad you managed to get your Glastonbury tickets!
ReplyDeleteOh, that Damien Lewis is a hottie!
ReplyDeleteWow the Damian Hirst exhibition looks amazing. He really challenges what we think art is, or is not. Love the top with the massive sleeves - refashioned from a pair of flares in your earlier post - the fabric is amazing.
ReplyDeletePersonally I enjoy Damien Hirsts work, glad you had fun at the exhibition and that Walsall is more culturally interesting than my fair hometown!!
ReplyDeleteLxx
I am in love with the first maxi! It looks like you had a splendid time. Yay!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for Walsall getting the Turner Prize! I worked it when it was in Liverpool and Mark Wallinger won. I haven't made in to the NAG, but A has worked there a few times and says it's a fantastic gallery.
ReplyDeleteI love all your outfits and congrats on the Glasto tickets!
