How cool is this 1960s psychedelic frilled blouse my friend Jo sent me? Just the thing for a dreary day like today when everything seems so blinking drab.
Barry M Silvery Lilac worn with my Indian bought bling and Krista's purple onyx ring and handmade bracelets (on the left) |
Jon just about managed to take a some pictures before the heavens opened, again.
The beautiful Hope Adela at Pink Champagne just started selling her vintage treasures on Etsy, check out these stunning lucite-like earrings I received and this groovy Oscar De La Renta wool scarf
which adds a certain something to my beaded peacock bag.

As you probably know I don't use foundation or powder. I get lots of sweet comments about my skin so I thought I'd share what's currently on my bathroom shelf.
This is the sum total of my beauty regime, Poundland's own brand baby oil for removing eye make-up (£1) ; Superdrug's Vitamin E scrub (£2.99) for cleansing, Vitamin E SPF 15 Radiance Cream (£2.99) for day time moisturising with a hint of a sparkle, Vitamin E Night Cream (£2.99) for bedtime and Avene eye cream (£9)
All cruelty-free (obviously).
Don't believe the hype, nobody needs to spend a fortune on posh lotions and potions. For decent looking skin it's just common sense - don't stuff your face with crap, get plenty of fresh air & exercise and drink lots of water. Who cares about fancy bottles on your bathroom shelf? Save your money and have fun instead.
Purple blouse worn with hand made lime green bell bottoms, suedette platforms (£5. local boutique), beaded bag and Nordiska belt (50p & 20p, both car boot sale buys) |
See you soon.
I'm loving the pigtails :)
ReplyDeleteVIX!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your blouse!!!
And... great beauty tips! I may have to invest in them myself! Gorgeous tips! :-)
just sent you a quick email!!
xo
I love the piggy tails too! I wish I had long enough hair for them. Saw a rockin' lass the other day in a 60's shift with knee high boots and piggy tails, made me wish I hadn't cut all of my hair off. I'm going to check out your hair and chazza shopping blogs right now! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blouse and I love that colour combination.
ReplyDeleteI used to use Lush creams and what not but I can't really afford them, so it was nice to see Superdrug started doing cruelty free products.
Your pigtails look great. That blouse is fabulous. I totally agree. You don't need lots of fancy products for your skin. Most of them are crap anyway.
ReplyDeleteOoh - LOVE that colour combo, amor! The belt is spectacular and I adore that fab blouse and those gorgeous EARRINGS! I absolutely agree re cheap and cheerful skin care products and the other super important tip (especially for Australians) is SUNSCREEN! Love you more than spectacular handmade pants! Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your hair in this one!
ReplyDeleteI agree about skincare. I do wear a lot of make-up (for style rather than to cover flaws) but my main beauty buy is nivea soft, Lidl face wash and witch hazel. Keep it simple- the harsh truth is genetics, smoking/not smoking and a healthy diet make much more difference than creams do!
The pink and green combo is absolutely lush - one of my favourites. Yep, I'm with you on the beauty products. Cheapo Superdrug cleansers and moisturisers are my preferred products of choice. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Vix.
ReplyDeleteI love those trousers, colours great.
Agree on the skincare front, do feel it's more of what goes on inside a lot of the time.
xx
Save money and have fun-never a truer word said!
ReplyDeleteI hate fancy cosmetics.
And btw, that shirt and belt are FAB!
The rains have hit here too i need to make some neon necklaces!
Love,
Shubhi's Revels!
Well you are the perfect advert for Superdrug's Vit E skin care range, you always look radiant! Yeah, the high end stuff is such a rip off, all about the advertising and packaging.
ReplyDeleteLove that gorgeous lilac blouse, aren't the ruffles pretty? And your homemade flares always brighten up a dull day.
Good to see the Vix brand of wisdom is spreading across the internet - that book/TV deal is getting closer, I can feel it! xxxx
Ohh love the colours! and the ruffels. and the trousers..and the jewelry..
ReplyDeleteSoooo sooooo true about the cosmetics...My grand mother had fab skin as well as hair and all she used was coconut oil, Pond's cold cream and some home made concoctions as facepacks...I love love love you, your blog and your bling
ReplyDeletehttp://iloveagudbargain.blogspot.com.au/
I love the new blouse and you have a breathtaking figure to wear pants and bell bottoms, you rock these lime green ones! I love your long hair and I've just read your interview about it, I'm trying to grow mine longer and I should find the products you use!Now I'm going to "study" your adventures on the Oxfam blog!
ReplyDeleteLots of love!!!
xxxx
I absolutely love the colour of those trousers! You gorgeous as always xx
ReplyDeleteWise words Vix... you are living testimony that there is no need to spend a fortune to look fabulous
ReplyDelete:-)
I love a frilly blouse and yours is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the handmade bracelets and the lucite earrings too. I have a thing for acrylic jewellery.
Dx
You look perfect in pink, it really suits you! The outfit is so Yootha Joyce - she was soooo stylish!
ReplyDeleteYou are just fablolous and you are picture in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteNot only do you have such radiant skin, I was thinking you have such lovely looking smooth hands too. I agree though with what you say about products. I use a natural shampoo and conditioner as well as facial products. In fact I've been using an organic rose hip oil on my face for a while now and it's the best thing I've ever used and I have used some high end products back in my early 20's.
I love your new white blog backgroud, I can see you much better.
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear friend for the link to the car boot sales.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You're a blog superstar! I'm all for cheap products - the pink oil of olay moisturiser is very good. I bought a NYC make up mascara recently and it's really good and only £2.99. Not that I ever turn down the expensive stuff if it's offered. You look gorgeous, I love the blouse - what a find! That scarf is fantastic and I love your bright green trousers!
ReplyDeleteThere's a great hair braid tutorial that would really suit you here: http://asteria-sparkle.blogspot.co.uk/
Wiser words have never been said Vix!
ReplyDeleteLooking as lovely as ever.
X x
Love those trousers on you Vix! I have to confess I use some pricey (not THAT pricey, but to me they are) skin products but only cos it's the only stuff that works on my 30 year old teenage skin :(
ReplyDeletelove the Star Trek Klingon belt!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that you don't have to spend lots on beauty products - these days I think most products are pretty similar - you're just paying for the brand name with the more expensive items. also loving that frilly pink top.
ReplyDeleteAwesome accessories, love your earrings and belt! :)
ReplyDeleteHi sweetheart!!! You look extra cute today in your pigtails and beautiful lilac blouse! I also love your handmade pants, that color rules! You do have the prettiest completion and I agree that drinking water and keeping your skin moisturized and protected from the sun are very important.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off the read your interviews and check out Adele's shop.
takecarebabygirlXXOO~
Krista
I love the green on you! The blouse is super cute and great nail color kind of looks like a gray silver. That purple ring is really cool also. Darn it I told Mother Nature to send you some sunshine but I guess she has her own plans! Have a great weekend Love Heather
ReplyDeleteWhat lipstick are you wearing? I love it x
ReplyDeleteI love those trousers! They are just all kinds of brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beauty tips, it's nice to know people get lovely skin like yours without shelling out a fortune on silly products!
xx
Love the color combo and wow your skin is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteYou should often be seen in pink and green, it's very cute! I find a feast and famine regime works on my skin - a few weeks of slapping on the lotions and several months of forgetting all about it seems to be the secret!
ReplyDeletexx
Love this! Those earrings are fantastic and so are those green pants you made. I would feel great in an outfit like this.
ReplyDeleteI'm lusting over that ring on your ring finger I think on your right hand. Looks like labradorite maybe? It looks handmade too. Beautiful!
You do have incredible skin.....fun to see what you use.
ReplyDeleteI agree....sunscreen , lots of water, and stay away from junk food.
I think its all your fun and happiness that glows out of your skin. You're right, expensive creams aren't at all necessary, my gran used rich moisture from Avon or ponds her whole life and she still has great skin. Xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing post, I love all the rings.
ReplyDeleteLove your beauty advice!
ReplyDeleteVix, I am so pleased that you like the blouse. It looks lovely with your complexion.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting about Superdrug. I went there for the first time when I was in London and bought some Barry M. cosmetics on your many recommendations. Even got a free nail varnish for spending more than 6 quid.
Loved the interviews, too.
You brighten up any day no matter what you wear!
Totally agree. I just buy Simple or Nivea (or Superdrug/Boots/Tesco own brand). Didn't know you could use baby oil as eye make-up remover. Will try that tonight as it'll be less harsh than my normal cleanser. xx
ReplyDeleteI am a purple fanatic! Such a Gorgeous top and those earrings!! OMG those earrings! Loving the title of this post too. I am a Huge Jimi Hendrix fan!
ReplyDeleteLove the combination of pink & green. Still haven't bought the Superdrug radiance cream but at least I know what it looks like!
ReplyDeletethat lime green pants are fabulous and you look so gorgeously colorful!
ReplyDeleteand love your words: Save your money and have fun instead!!, yeah, you rock!
besos
how can i possibly love you more? i've been telling people for decades that it's not what you put on your skin but rather what you put in your bod. buying lotion is easier though so there is nothing we can do about that. excellent skin is inexpensive and easy.
ReplyDeleteoh and btw, love, love what you are wearing. i'm going to check out your posts and your friends etsy site after my pool party, if i'm not too drunk.
xo
Awwwww, loook at you with your girly bunches!!!!! The shirt is just perfect! x
ReplyDeleteYou and those trousers lately! I must work harder to dig some up in my neighbourhood. These are awesome pieces. The scarf looks perfect with your bag. And I liked your interviews and how you keep it real. It's true how crushing it can be to try to fit into an environment rather than the other way around.
ReplyDeleteLove you beauty tips!! I can't see spending $50 on some skin cream that promises me the world!!
ReplyDeletelove your outfit!! The lilac and lime look awesome together!
Tamera

My beast beauty tip - don't smoke.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are 14 and want to look older it works. Fast forward to 45 and you look 55 +
The pink and green are just perfect together.
ReplyDeleteI love you beauty advice Vix - I couldn't agree with you more. I don't spend that much on my "beauty regime" either and often get asked about how do I keep my skin clear - but its just from trying to live as well as I possibly can, not really rocket science!
I have been to the Pink Champagne esty store too - there are some lovely things, I bought a vintage square dancing frock from there and it arrived last week - must post about it soon.
Have a lovely day and keep dry - raining here too!
I adore the color of your ruffled blouse. It's so pretty. You look fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteI use the Vitamin E handcream and it's amazing. I kind of don't care about skin care (sounds bad...) in that I don't have the money to buy fancy products so I try and stay healthy and hydrated. My skin doesn't seem too bad! The bellbottoms are fab x
ReplyDeleteSuch a fab colour combo and your blouse is so pretty. Love the belt and earrings also - both so unusual.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with Superdrug stuff, have used it for years and now they have a loyalty card it gets even better. xx
Amor, love your hiptastic groovy pants with purple frilly top.
ReplyDeleteYou have radiant skin!
Superdrug is my fave beauty store. I use vitamin e capsules an oil of olay cheapy creams. And yes comes down to genes and of course no smoking or drinking too much.
Gonna go check you out.
besones
VIX!!! Baby you're always look so beautiful, fly and ahh amazing!! That blouse is a dream and I want your jewelry....

ReplyDeleteI see you wear a lot of pink. It is my fav, too.
ReplyDeleteThat belt looks like big-arse pearls. *swoons*
Love the shirt. I also use Superdrug products. I love the cleanser you wash off with a muslin cloth. A fraction of the Liz Earle price.
ReplyDeleteGreat look, and the pants are so stylish fit! (sorry for my poor english)
ReplyDeleteSweetest pigtails ever! That blouse is just dreamy and mixed with those pants PERFECTION. xx
ReplyDeleteLovely blog.

I think your awesome skin is a payoff for putting up with the terrible weather! Fab skin is one thing I noticed English people have in spades when I was there, English people look way younger than Aussies, on average, I put it down to having no strong sun.xx.
ReplyDeleteonly you. so adorable <3
ReplyDeleteLove these two colors together! :)

You never cease to amaze me with every corner of your style and life. The interviews were brilliant, as are you in stunning purple and green.
ReplyDeleteHi Gorgeous
ReplyDeleteYou are right about all those beauty products, i have minimal stuff - I have one expensive little jar of cream, it is a serum by Vichy- it works wonders, it is the best thing i had used - Plus i use Avene products as well and Jojoba oil -
Loving the blouse, green and pink is lovely -
Great Oxfam article, so cool!
Ariane xxxx
love this whole look!
ReplyDeleteLove your blouse x
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about over-priced skin care products. Recently I began to take something called HA for minor arthritus. It has had an amazing side-effect--clearing up a couple of blemishes on my face! But, it's also doing wonders for all of my skin. Nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit you look gorgeous i love the colours there a beautiful combo. I use superdrug vitamin E products to i love there facecream in the range and have been using it for ages ;-) dee xx
ReplyDeleteFIERCE psychedelic frilled blouse for the WIN! :D Stunning!
ReplyDeleteIndian bought bling is so awesome; you have the most beautiful jewelry. A jig is in order!
You are so right about the potions..your skin in absolutely beautiful. I think people forget about the water bit, and it really is so important. You hit the nail on the head! XOXO

I love your hair and outfit and if I can get your fresh-faced look I'm off to look at the Superdrug stuff tomorrow. I'm vegetarian and have been using Boots 'Simply Sensitive' moisturiser but I really want to try something new and within my budget. I really really must buy that barry M nail varnish too!! wantitwantitwantitwantit! xx
ReplyDeleteYou are beautifully colourful today! Those green pants are absolutely amazing, and your hair looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI use that body scrub! Smells lovely and it's good stuff. I love the colours you are working here - go really well together. x
