Frida Forever

Today I'm inspired by Frida Kahlo.

I got back from a morning spent charity shopping in another town to discover not one but three parcels of joy awaiting me. Tamera's parcel contained this incredible card she'd made featuring our mutual idol.

By weird coincidence this 1970s tiered gingham maxi dress I scored in Cancer Research Clearance for £1 this morning seemed just the kind of thing Frida would have loved. (I know, a quid, it's quite ridiculous!)

No mono-brow for me, my own eye brows are so pitifully sparse I've had them tattooed on.

Check out this amazing pendant Tamera made with her own fair hands,

I can even wear it back to front!

These earrings were hand made by Tamera using African trading beads.

This fabric Tamera sent's so gorgeous I'm afraid to cut it, it shall be made into something marvellous very soon! The peacock earrings are so very me and the disco ball ones she refashioned from some she found in a bargain bin!

Can you tell Tamera's got a degree in Fine Art & Multimedia Sculpture? She made this wall plaque for me, too. Jon's already laid claim and snuck it into Gilbert.

Right now there's a cat making himself at home on the rest of my charity shop scores so I'll have to share my buys and the two other blogging buddy parcels with you another time.

Thank you so much to Tamera, Ronnie and Mrs Allnut , you've made my week!

Welsh tapestry and Indian cotton await.

I'm spending the day with a rather fabulous blogger tomorrow, I'll try not to get over-excited and remember take a couple of pictures.

Have a fabulous weekend and see you soon.

PS Thanks for the well wishes, the man 'flu's on the wane and we were able to get to the pub last night!

  2. Yes, going monobrow would perhaps class as an homage too far...

You're looking fab as always. A quid for that skirt is madness. Even if you decided you didn't want to wear it, there's so much great fabric in it!

Your maxi is great too. I`ve just been looking at a tutorial on how to make a dress using fabric and a vest which looks very similar.

  11. Salma Hayek didn't pull off Frida's monobrow so I think avoiding one was wise!
