I'm not addicted or anything but it has been over a month since I last set foot in a charity shop so today, despite the sub-zero temperatures and snow flurries, I pulled on my thermals and headed into town for a chazza fix.
Here's what I found:
1970s maxi by Dorothy Perkins. It's actually a slinky nightie but I'll be wearing it as a dress. (YMCA £3.49)
1960s Victorian-inspired silk lined velvet jacket with Leg Of Mutton sleeves for unleashing my inner Stevie Nicks (PDSA £2.99)
Indian-made mirror work and embroidery cross body festival bag (Salvation Army, 60p)
Because a girl can never have too many fringed gypsy shawls (Salvation Army, £1)
Hippy-tastic cheesecloth blouse by Free People, dying to be worn with my denim bell bottoms and vintage platforms (YMCA £2.99)
My favourite buy has to be this 1970s polka dot chiffon gypsy maxi by Berketex (St Giles Hospice, £10)
As soon as it was donated the shop manager thought of me and put it aside until I returned from my travels, needless to say that when I set eyes on it I loved it. It might be snowing out there but I couldn't wait to try it on.
Bring on the festival season.
Sod the snow and the hideous temperatures, we're off to the pub for lashings of real ale.
Have a fantastic weekend whatever you get up to.

I am mad for the polka dot dress. It was meant for a summer garden party with the jet set.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work on finding all those gems, and extra points for getting out in the freezing snow to show us that frock! I'm having the opposite problem over here, it's been 36 degrees or so the past few times I've tried to take photos and I nearly drown in sweat while out posing in the garden!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!! I love that polka dot maxi!!! You're so lucky there are lovely people that work at those charity stores. It's so sweet when they put aside stuff for you. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your style! Just found your blog now. Loving it. X
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that the ladies in your local charity shops set things aside for you; they're your very own personal shoppers! And what a treasure the dotted dress is, perfectly paired with the pink headdress. You are a vision of spring!
ReplyDeleteI would wear the green nightgown as a dress also; and what a stunning shade of green that is!
The Indian bag and the Free People top are both treasures, and I have no words for how I feel about black lace shawls. have you ever worn two together, tied as one? I would love to see how that looks, and I bet it would add some warmth, also.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Vix!
xo, A.
