Whilst winter lovers wax lyrical about clear frosty mornings and crisp dark nights spare a thought for us arthritis sufferers. Old wives tale, my arse, my non-prosthetic hip is murder at the moment and if having to wear lower heeled shoes to limp into town isn't bad enough then being asked if I need a hand with my shopping by a sprightly pensioner is ten times worse.
I suppose I could do the sensible thing and swallow a fistful of anti-inflammatories but they aren't a great idea with booze and I'll be damned if I'm going to Liz and Adrian's for dinner tonight and not drinking the Chilli Martini I've already got infusing in the fridge.
This 1960s ditsy play suit was one of my Clothes Show buys. Originally priced at £22 the stall holder told me I could have it for £5 as my outfit had made her week.
My Favourite Thing on Friday is a charity shop find. The fake fur hood was £2.95 from Acorns Hospice. I heard the volunteer shout to the manager, "You know that glamorous lady who comes in here? She's bought that mad fur thing, told you she would" as I left the shop.
Can you believe I've had more loveliness through the post? Scarlett sent me this fab 1970s blouse, stainless steel pendant, funky belt buckle and a vintage tea towel I lusted after on her blog a while ago.
Louise sent me these divine Indian moonstone earrings set in silver.
I was one of the winners of Ceri's Ethical outfit competition and chose a goody bag as my prize. There's soem fabulous indigo suede gloves, a ceramic Regency style brooch, a ceramic pendant, glass beads, lace butterfly brooch and a calico shopper.
A dinner party, a night out on the town, a visit to the Italian farmer's market in town and a jumble sale, this weekend's a busy one.
Have a great time whatever you get up to.
See you soon.

Alas it is true about the arthritis, my back is starting to ache with the cold and damp. (Oh its acute back pain said the doc 3 years ago- yeah right).
ReplyDeleteLove the furry hood I had one when I was child it was so snuggly
Bet you made a pensioners day - I did when one overtook me walking in town one day. Said it made such a change to be the fastest!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good night - hope the booze eases the pain - that what I'm hoping for later too. All this limping has set off sciatica - hoping a friends mulled wine will see it right later ;)
Don't you just love it when someone says that you'd buy a certain thing and then you did? It's almost as good as being called glamourous!!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your arthritis. I do know of a natural remedy if you're interested. You can post a comment on my blog or email me from the address there about it.
Cheers!

Oooh sorry to hear about the arthritis playing up. Lashings of chilli martini should do the trick. Sounds bloody delish if you ask me. Love the playsuit and furry hood. xx
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-the playsuit was made for you, it looks fabulous! Hope the arthritic pain doesn't play up too much for you, take care and have a great weekend xx
ReplyDeletedidn't know about your arthritis til one of your recent posts mentioned it - ouch. hope the glow from the martinis sort it out for tonight...
ReplyDeletewhat a great reputation to have in the chazza shops!
throat & ear infection here - have had to have a pot noodle as it can't cope with anything else apart from hot tea! x
Such a gorgeous playsuit, it looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeletexoxo.
Yey, I'm glad they arrived ok.
ReplyDeleteI've never been diagnosed with arthritis, but my grandma suffers with it appalingly and as soon as this weather kicks in my knee joints and hips are murder. Right now I have extremely painful hands too, but I think that could be RSI. I'm the queen of self diagnosis. A bit of chilli martini will see you right. Xx
Sorry to hear about your aches. I think everyone (esp. women) have at least a little of this problem starting in their 30's. But - if there's one person who can't be kept down, it's you! I'm with you. Enjoy that tasty martini!
ReplyDeletelove Jill
Love your playsuit, and you wear it so well. The fake fur hood is brilliant too, bet it keeps you lovely and warm in this chilly wind.
ReplyDeletevix! I sent ya an email!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your birthday weekend, any excuse for alcohol!!! :p
Jules x
I find alcohol is the best painkiller!
ReplyDeleteI am one of those winter lovers so I'll shut up about that. I'm sorry your hip is bothering you!
ReplyDeleteI love your red tights with that outfit.
Have a good and hopefully pain free weekend.
It may be winter outside, but in your heart it's spring! That outfit makes me very hungry for spring. It's delightful. Well done for avoiding the tablets, some people gulp them down like sweets.
ReplyDeleteI think the company of good friends and delicious food and wine are a far better tonic.
Enjoy your busy weekend, but don't be afraid to moan and have a rest. I for one would love a full on rant post from someone as positive as you.
Great parcels from the wonderful world of blogland, each one unique and suited to your impeccable taste. Cheers all round.

I'm using a vintage faux ivory-topped walking stick - it looks wicked :) Also putting 2 desertspoons of Linwoods Milled Organic Flaxseed (Holland and Barrett) in my morning porridge/baked beans helps with inflammation due to Omega 3s apparently. I can't take ibuprofen so getting pished sounds good to me! (Can't do that either - so HELLO choklit!!)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the pains :o( That playsuit is amazing! What a fab deal that she gave it to you so cheap :o) Love the CS comment - very true of course. Glad you like the parcel chickadee. Mwah Scarlett x

Such a wonderful mix of colour, I adore the ditsy print, it will look fab in summertime. I hope the pain goes away soon xxx
ReplyDeleteThat playsuit is stunning and you were given an automatic discount because of your awesome fashion sense!
ReplyDelete"Glamourous Lady" how lovely! I wonder how often they put things out betting on you purchasing it?
xx
Love the comment at the charity shop, so much better than you know that mad lady who comes in here - she bought that glam hat! Take care of yourself - fish oil helps stiff joints, if you can stand to take it.
ReplyDeleteYou look AMAZING! I love the colours in your playsuit.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your hip, i hope its feeling better soon xxx
Hope the chilli martinis sorted out your aching hip last night!
ReplyDeleteYou look like playfulness personified in that gorgeous playsuit, a bargain at a fiver and how brilliant to get a big discount by dint of being fabulous!
Love your big fur bonnet (that sounds well dodgy!) - it reminds me of a hat I had when I was a kid, lovely and warm.
Great gifts and wins.
Have a fab weekend, love. xxxxxxxx
Hope the alcohol had an anaesthetising effect on your poor hip - I guess telling you to wrap up warmer instead of wearing a teeny weeny (albeit gorgeous) playsuit would be wasted time? So there's a monetary benefit to a good outfit too - what a fantastic discount you got.
ReplyDeletex
Oh sounds like fun fun fun this weekend! and ugh sorry about the aches :( the cold does bring them on doesn't it!! Love the bright red tights & jumpsuit ~ Have fun this weekend...squeeze in a good warm soak in some salts & that should help those aches~ xoxo Heather

ReplyDeleteHope your hip feels better soon - eat garlic!!
xx
YAAAAASSSS!!! Florals, play suits, neon, and suede boots. A few of my favorite things in one rockin outfit. I love how you're willing to suffer through pain for your martini. Once you drink it, I'm sure that your hip will be the last thing on your mind. If it makes you feel better a group of 65 year olds out danced me in Hip Hop class. I was done after 20 minutes, but they continued going for 60.
ReplyDeleteFabulous playsuit, a great buy! Chilli Martini sounds like the most amazing winter drink!xxx
ReplyDeletelove how you styled your summer wear for winter season!
ReplyDeleteHonestly Vix, you are as far away looking like a pensioner as the South from the North pole wearing this flowery jumpsuit!

ReplyDeleteHi Vix, I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis playing up. That must be really difficult to live with, especially when heels and glamour are your passion. Flat shoes for crying out loud? I hope the pain calms down soon. :(
ReplyDeleteYou look completely amazing in this playsuit. I had a fur hood when I was little and loved it. Em x
