It's The End Of The Road

We're just about to set off to sunny (hopefully) Dorset for The End Of The Road Festival. Sadly it's the end of the road for dear old Gilbert, too. On the eve of his last road trip with us he decided to conk out. Thank heavens for an old mate of Jon's from his punk days who came up with an ancient trailer tent. I just hope we manage to work out how to erect it before nightfall because the rest of the gang aren't arriving till tomorrow morning.

I bought this Hilo Hattie Hawaiian-made maxi and the leather money belt when I was out with Liz yesterday and I managed to get my roots done, too.

It's gorgeous at the moment but, as usual, my bag is packed to cover everything the British weather chucks at us including thermal underwear (thanks for the tip, Lynn), a bikini, fake fur coat, wellies, flip flops and a sun dress.

Vintage maxi dress (£5, Save The Children), leather money belt (50p, Birmingham Settlement)

See you next week!

  1. stunning outfit Vix, I didn't realise you were close to Lichfield, thought you were further south, but it explains why we couldn't find any thing in the charity shops:))

YOU, on the other hand, look full of health, life and excitement, ready for another festival-ing frenzy. I just knew you would get everything sorted in time - roots done, suitcase packed, a day with Liz AND that fabulous maxi. You are wonderwoman.
    Have a great time.
PS. Just looked at an email from Judy's Affordable Vintage fairs (affordable being a relative term, of course) and they are at End of the Road, so you'll have some vintage rummaging to do as well xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hawaiian clothing's always so colourful and happy! I'm glad you got everything sorted -- woman you are a powerhouse! Have a cider for me, I miss the UK so badly and can't get decent cider in the states ): But most of all have a fab time with sun shining the whole time so there's no use for those thermals but only the bikini!

  45. Have a great week,Vix!
Seems we haven't been as close as of late and I miss you!
i think my 'not as vintageyness' may be part of it, though i found the best frock yesterday and had to have it and though of you!
i tend to go in spurts, and this summer really kicked my creative butt.
Now that autumn is on it's way, i seem to be scrambling to wear my beloved summer things whilst nabbing up fall things like crazy!
    I am on a tweed/wool binge....
    and suede square toed shoes/boots.

    Sorry bout Gilbert.
    Have a great week.
I'm off on Sunday as well for a week at my mom/dad's in the country. The air always clears my head.

Then, after the holiday madness is over, we will be getting some fur babies :)
    I so miss Boo.

    love always,

  47. Oh no, Gilbert has to go? He's got a special place in my heart because he reminds me of the days our family travelled through Canada... We managed to sleep 6 people in the camper van (2 on top, my parents and a toddler in the back, 1 toddler over the front seats)...
Hope you have fun at the festival, Vix - the weather should be fine.

  59. Oh no! I had no idea Gilbert was so poorly ... I hope he can be restored, you've had so many wonderful travels together:). You look glorious in your new maxi - I love those Hawaiian frocks, the frill is gorgeous and the off the shoulder look has me in a tizz. The money belt is gorgeous - I would have to wear it everyday - who'd think something so practical would be so awesome! Hope you don't get rained on and have a wonderful time:)) xoxoxoxo

  63. I'm so sad to hear about Gilbert - can he be saved? My ex, Nick, used to have a purple VW van which recently reached the end of the road, and although it's ten years since I last rode in it I felt really nostalgic about it. Hope you have a fab time at the festival and the weather's dry at least.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh dear - RIP Gilbert, and hope your borrowed trailer tent comes up trumps. Mind you, it could have been worse - my friend's family camper van burst into flames in France this summer. They managed to scramble out, but lost everything in the blaze...
Goodness, you're looking as vibrant and lovely as ever in that maxi. Great belt too. Hope you have great weather at the festival (bound to - term is about to kick off and the sun ALWAYS comes back out when school/college is on the horizon!)
