Vintage catsuit (£6.50, eBay), 1950's bag (20p, car boot sale) and scarab pendant (£1, car boot sale) |
We had grand plans for last night but they went pear-shaped and we ended up down the local instead.
We've got two pubs within five minutes walking distance from home and last night we paid The Wheatsheaf a visit.
There's been a public house here since 1535. According to local records the current building has been trading as a pub since 1801, originally it was unnamed and known only by a picture of a greyhound, becoming The Wheatsheaf in 1812.
The pub's had several incarnations since I started going in my teens. Originally a traditional back street boozer complete with horse brasses, mild ale and a darts board, during the early Nineties it became part of the Firkin chain, changing it's name to the Flock & Firkin selling watered-down lager to a banging Brit Pop soundtrack. In recent years it's back to being known as The Wheatsheaf, become a free house and now sells a tantalising array of cask conditioned ale with live music every weekend.
How loud do we look? Our vintage prints are positively deafening.
The lads scrub up rather well.
What a happy bunch.
Liz and I have been friends since we were five but nearly forty years on we still find plenty to talk about.
After a couple of pints I went on to halves to make room for curry.
I know some of you like a bad ass biker as much as I do. The local chapter of Hell's Angels were in last night and a couple were more than happy for me to take their photos. This is Dave.
I forgot to ask this chap's name, sorry.
Our town might get some bad press but I guarantee that you won't visit a friendlier place. We had a laugh with these guys whilst Jon was having a smoke.
We had to pop to the offie (off-licence) for some booze to take to the curry house. £10.50 for three bottles of Blossom Hill? A bargain if you ask me.
This is our new favourite Indian restaurant. The food's excellent and cheap, the building's Georgian, it's only a couple of minutes walk from the pub and the off-licence is opposite, what's not to love?
Can you see why? Yum! Vegetable Rezala for me (chili hot).
Chicken Madras, fish bhuna and chicken & mushroom saag for the carnivores.
The decor complimented our outfits.
Cheers!

I love those loud prints especially the one with the ducks! You've gotta love a pub that's walking distance from home.
ReplyDeleteE :)
Love the clothes matching the decor!! Bad ass biker photos are fab too. xx
ReplyDeleteSo, did the three of you consult on your color and patterns - or did it just turn out that way???
ReplyDeleteI was thinking exactly what Rebecca was - there had to have been a phone call or two about the frocking co-ordination!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe, after all the booze, that you're up'n'about and compiling a whacking long post like that! Walsall's Trade Ambassador - you're doing a grand job for the town xx
Hahaha your cheeks look a little rosey in the last picture is that from the rosey wine :) ~Fabulous dresses OH you make me want a vintage outfit so bad lol!! There are Hells Angels there really?? We had a huge gang in California where I used to live they weren't friendly though. Looks like a wonderful time. There is a very large Indian population here I am not sure if I told you that?? So I am just loving all the Indian food thats pretty much all we have been eating. I am really enjoying it. And the grocery store near our house the whole back of the store is the beautiful Indian clothing frocks, tunics and scarves all embroidered. It is going to make it very hard for me to stay focused when I am getting the groceries...Ok enough rambling on from me~Great pictures & fabulous Outfits ~Love Heather

That jumpsuit is so fabulous, you've inspired me to dig out my jumpsuits now...haven't worn them for a while.
I love the duck & fish print halter frock, that's right up my street.
Adrian's shirt is a total triumph too, well done that man!
I get very excited when I see a guy who is NOT wearing superdry, Gstar or some dread-awful teatowel check shirt....or baby pink, I can't handle guys wearing baby pink, especially if they also happen to be an estate agent or a city banker...the stuff of nightmares, muhahaha!
Lot's of love,
Jennie

ReplyDeleteI'm loving the wild prints on all three of the ladies! Amazing, that the same building can stand for so long...and only convinces me that things in the USA are often built to be destroyed.

ReplyDeleteI love the way you spin a story about your outings/socialising/friends/encounters. I think I'm beginning to think of you as 'amazing catsuit woman' - I mean: how many fabulous catsuits can one woman own?? And here's yet another one! What a dash you all must have cut wandering along the pavements together - three seriously stylish couples.
